you're pretty weird for a girl who tried to be normal her whole life
Everything on repeat 🔁🤍
enamored with the subplot in pluribus about. what if you stumbled your way into writing a wildly successful speculative historical romance adventure series (romantasy) (you hate romantasy) (it’s even straight to your chagrin) & then Every Person On Earth loved it & loved you & wanted you to keep writing it even when your world ended. & even with all that love you still find a way to be the loneliest person on earth. & you still don’t even like romantasy
Little outfit swap ^_^
My name is Manousos Oviedo. I am not one of them. I wish to save the world.
also they always make characters who have no reason to know english magically speak it perfectly so they don't have to address a language bareer or god forbid use subtitles. so it's nice that after carol gets called out for only wanting to talk to english speakers and misses out on the possibility of human connexion because of it, she attempts to talk to manousos in spanish even if it's terrible, and as a result manousos actively learns some english on screen to try and communicate with her, and when he meets carol he speaks to her in broken english and she speaks to him in broken spanish in return. and then for the entire episode they're just. walking around using the google translate app for every sentence and both speaking their language with random words of the others' language slipped in there.
i just like that they didn't do what usamericans shows/movies love to do and just go "somehow he speaks english now!" and didn't shy away from the loud ass google translate voice shadowing everything the protagonists say during the entire finale. in the middle of an important scene when carols talks over google translate manousos tells her to slow down and she has to stop and repeat slower so he can hear the translation. it fucks with the 'classic' dynamic dialogue pacing you'd expect from a finale but it's so much more real and human and contrasts with the hive who knows all languages but, if it gets what it wants, will have nobody in the world to speak any of them with- vs the human need to seek connexion despite a language bareer, the trying to find ways to communicate despite the differences, to make the effort to learn the others' language so you can know them better, and in doing so be less alone
Funnily enough, the translator they use doesn't translate in a literal word-for-word way like a machine would, but instead it's more like an actual human translator, where it's the meaning of the text that's being translated to be better understood in another language (and sound more poetic, too)
LOUDER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
