Why I Stay Home
I get asked frequently “How do you NOT go crazy being home all of the time?” and “Don’t you ever wish you had a job outside of your home?” and to answer both of those questions…
I don’t go crazy being home, because I don’t have time to. I spend all of my time cleaning, planning, and then taking care of my son in between all of it. I have very little time to just sit down and relax. I have to make sure my son has his breakfast at a reasonable hour, do the laundry, dishes, all of it by myself. The way I stop myself from feeling like I’m trapped in my house all day, is I give myself the weekends off. I treat my home job like an actual one. The weekends are for me and that’s it.
Do I wish I had a job outside of my home? Well, sometimes… but, daycare is SO expensive. If I had a job outside of home, daycare would be most of my paycheck. To me, that isn’t worth it. You might as well not work if you’re paying so much for someone else to watch your child. I’d be working for nothing, honestly. Plus, I’m an introvert. I don’t talk to a lot of people outside from my family. I have maybe 3 friends that I talk to on a regular basis. Versus the 20 that I had before.
So long story short, I have a busy life. I juggle so many things at once… but that’s the life of being a mom.

Joven, 1909 by Pierre André Brouillet (French, 1857–1914)
Happy birthday to French artist Paul Cézanne, who was born on this day in 1839. He interpreted our world through radical use of colors, brushstrokes, and composition, but most importantly endures as a master of Post-Impressionism. See his work in our New European Galleries.
