Favorite Albums of 2016:
1. Thomston - Topograph: Thomas Stoneman has long been one of my favorite artist. He writes such personal, real, and emotion music that I relate so easily too. I get lost in this album every time I hear it, and each time I find some new little piece of it that makes me love it and appreciate the time and energy spent on creating it more. The Shortchange and The Outskirts are my favorite songs, but I go back and forth every time because I can’t skip a single track on this album.
2. Gallant - Ology: This album is full of different sounds and textures and it makes me so happy every time I hear it. The first time I heard Weight in Gold I knew Gallant would be one of my favorites of the year. Episode and Counting are my favorites on this one.
3. Shura - Nothing’s Real: This album is a real winner. Nothing is wrong, and everything melds so sonically and the writing is superb. My favorite tracks are What Happened to Us? and Tongue Tied.
4.Tove Lo - Lady Wood: I’ll be honest I thought Tove Lo was all hype but the second I heard Cool Girl and then True Disaster, I was on board. Keep It Simple and True Disaster really are the stars of this album and made it one of my favorites of the year.
5. Banks - The Altar: I loved Banks first album so much, every word she sang resonated so deep in me, but then she pulled this bad boy on us. I’ll be honest Fuck with Myself is a stretch for me but Weaker Girl and This Is Not About Us truly show why Banks is and always will be one of my favorite artist.
6. MAALA - Composure: I found MAALA by chance earlier this year on twitter, and his song Feels So Right is honestly a song I can listen too on repeat and never tire of it. Breathe Out and Hush are easily among the best on this album.
7. Broods - Conscious: I discovered Broods in the midst of the post Lorde craze. Their first album was stellar and they went full pop on this one. While I find it less interesting, its still amazing. We Had Everything and Bedroom Door are among my most played of the year.
8. Tegan and Sara - Love You to Death: I feel in love with T&S when I saw them at Hangout in 2013. This album really pulled out everything I loved about them. U-Turn and Dying to Know are just great pop songs.
9. The 1975 - i like it when you sleep…..: Wow just wow. This album is so different from their debut but is sort of the same. If I Believe You and Loving Somebody are two of my favorite songs this year, and the choir on If I Believe You gives me chills every time I hear it.
10. Two Door Cinema Club - Gameshow: Been waiting for ages for this band to make a come back and this album does not disappoint. Lavender is an amazing song and I love just riding down the roads around my house listening to this with the windows down.
