The vulnerability in his comment took her by surprise. She knew she’d have to be very careful with what she said. Jason Todd wasn’t one to open up to just anyone, and she’d hate to do anything to hurt the tender heart hidden by all that rage. Unable to find words that would properly express what his trust in her meant, she wrapped her arms around his middle and gave him a tight squeeze.
He softly stroked her hair before they were called back to the exam room, and Chel was plopped up on the table with her belly exposed. Jason sat in the corner shaking from nerves.
After exchanging pleasantries, and general questions about how she was feeling, or whether she was having any odd cravings, the doctor began the exam. Chel laughed nervously when the doc smeared jelly on her stomach.
"So, are you excited?" she asked. "Today we can find out if you're having a boy or a girl, if you want to know."
The acrobat nodded slowly. She was feeling equal parts worried and excited.

Did you get that from Alfred?” Laughing as he pulled her up, she remarked. “That’s good, because my center of gravity is way off-balance from all this extra weight. I kind of felt like a turtle on it’s back. Probably couldn’t have gotten up if I wanted to.”
"Might have. Who else do we know thats wise?" He took her hand and lead her inside to wait for the doctor.
Sitting there running his thumb over her palm he took a deep breath.
"Chel, I… thank you… even if… how we love each other is different. Thank you for letting me love you, for not pushing me away and telling me to stop."

She swatted his side, giving him a mischievous look, before turning serious again. “Yeah, you’re probably right. Part of me feels like I’ve grown up a lot since then. At the same time, though, I feel like I’m just as lost and confused as ever.” Chel stared up at the sign outside the office building. “Are you going to help me up?”
"Someone told me that the real sign of adulthood is knowing that you don’t know anything." He shrugged and opened the door. "No I was going to let my pregnant… a pregnant woman try to waddle herself out of my ridiculously low muscle car."
He reached down and took her hand to help her stand.

He mumbled something uder his breath about fingers and pies before sighing.
“‘You’re just a kid’ you would have said, ‘we’re family, i’m no good for you baby boy, I love Kor, or Brandon, or who ever…” He pulled over to parl at the office. “That’s how.”
