Old comic. Never stop exploring
I put a peach as my avatar as an homage to Louis’ bum and whenever I share something it jumps happily and it makes me happy.
Spontaneous “caceroladas” (using a pot and a kitchen spoon as a drum) are taking place in Barcelona during daylight (we usually do this at night) in protest for the application of Article 155.
Donald Tusk implies press manipulation and lies in Spain
Speech by President Donald Tusk at the 2017 Princess of Asturias Awards ceremony
Majestades, Premiados, Autoridades, Señoras y Señores
I am happy that thanks to the decision of the Princess of Asturias Foundation, I am receiving tonight the Award for Concord European Union. And at the same time I am very proud that the same award - for Literature - is being received today also by a Pole, a great poet, Adam Zagajewski.
We met forty years ago, even if he doesn't know about it. I was still a student when I read his brilliant poem about censorship, in the time of the Communist dictatorship in Poland. Together with my friends, we printed this poem in our illegal printing house in several hundred copies. With time, Zagajewski became for my generation a symbol of the freedom of speech, of the independence of thought, and of our longing for Europe - not in the geographical sense, but in political, intellectual and axiological ones.
We both participated in the mass “Solidarity” movement, together with millions of our compatriots. We were beaten, thrown to jail, forced to go on exile. But we never gave up on a few simple principles: that violence doesn't solve anything, that dialogue is always better than conflict, that law should be respected by all the actors of the public life, and that harmony is better than chaos.
For all those years we both dreamt about a united Europe, where concord and truth prevail. And today, here in Oviedo, I want to underline that to me concord is a synonym of unity. And today we are in fact receiving the award of Concord, at the same time bearing in mind that there is no genuine concord without the truth.
In many parts of our world, people feel that they are surrounded by lies, manipulation and fake news.
But I deeply believe that truth is invincible. And that this ceremony is also an expression of this invincibility.
In fact one of the most beautiful poems by Adam Zagajewski talks about the truth. Together with my friends we have translated a fragment into Spanish:
El territorio de la verdad es claramente reducido, estrecho como un sendero al borde de un precipicio. ¿Eres capaz de no salirte de él? Acaso ya lo has abandonado.
Thank you very much.
"The territory of truth is plainly small, narrow as a path above a cliff. Can you stick to it? Perhaps you've strayed already."
Polònia - Forget Catalonia
Today, Spain’s government, with the support of the second majoritary party and the agreement of the EU, has approved to start the procedure to apply Article 155 in Catalonia, with which they will assume direct control. The measures expected include: removing Catalonia’s elected president from office, taking control of taxes (of course) and police.
Omnium Cultural, one of the civic organizations whose leader has been imprisoned, recently made a video in English regarding our situation, but I don’t like, it, so I’m gonna share Polònia’s parody instead, in which the dramatically over the top woman of the original video has been replaced by an actress as Soraya Saez de Santamaría, Spain’s vice-president.
Have a laugh, and please share!
Why Robbie Reyes ruined season 4
I just finished watching the 4th season of Agents of SHIELD, and after reading many awed reviews about Ghost Rider, I have to say my own piece.
WTF.
Villains aside, we’ve had two instances of murderous characters before: the first one, Daisy’s father was absolutely insane and enjoyed killing in a perfectly insane way. When faced with him, the agents called him murderer and treated him as the murdering crazy disfunctional being that he was. The second one was Andrew, who turned into Lash and was regarded as an extremely dangerous individual and locked up.
Then comes Robbie Reyes and suddenly everyone turns permissive about it. I don’t know how the character is in the comics, or what he’s done to earn such hype, but for me it was a poor, badly writen character who made solid characters around him behave unnaturally.
Sure, there was here and there a comment thrown about how it is not up to him to decide who lives and who dies, but it felt wrong. Characters as May and Jemma should have had a stronger reaction to a double personality character, considering their relationship for the first and experience for the later with Andrew.
Did they forget about him? And most importantly, did the writers expect us to forget that I-have-a-double-personality-and-the-other-one-murders-people is exactly the same plot we had with Andrew/Lash? It doesn’t matter that the second personality is actually a being from another dimension and can be passed on to someone else, it’s still the same character. At least Andrew assumed his own actions, wrong as they were. Robbie kind of shrugged it off, like ‘Oh, well. They deserved it’. Dude, not your call.
As a character, Robbie is little more than a conduit for Daisy’s angsty antics. It’s very difficult to empathize with him, I mean, ‘My brother is in a wheelchair so I killed some very bad people to blow of some steam’ is not an acceptable life choice where I come from. By the time he revealed his origin it felt like a sob story, a sub-plot within the sub-plot and a predictable one at that.
But even if we accept that Robbie is driven by a being from another dimension and is unable to stay home quietly because it forces him to go looking for trouble, the agents should have treated Ghost Rider as a parasite they had to get rid of, not accept it as Robbie Reyes’s fate.
And honestly, the framework and AIDA were awesome, and having this guy show up uninvited for the finale to shove a deus ex machina down our throats was underwelming.
It’s sad, because the aesthetic of Ghost Rider is really great, but without a solid character behind it’s like ketchup without french fries.
Just imagine the superwho lock fandom if this happened. Jesus so much chaos

YOU'RE FROM FUCKING DENMARK SO DON'T TALK ABOUT AMERICAN POLITICS BITCH
If you don’t want people from outside of America to say anything about American politics, then maybe America should stop shoving it down our throats. You can’t do that and expect us to be quiet about it.
I can’t believe this is happening right now
can we quit without saving?

next time someone tells you Muslim countries oppress women, let them know Pakistan, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Turkey, Kosovo, Kyrgyzstan, and Senegal have all had female Presidents or Prime Ministers and 1/3rd of Egypt’s parliament is female but the US has yet to even have a female vice president and can’t say “vagina” when discussing female reproductive rights
I just cracked my screen I reblogged this so hard.
