I’m so happy I can finally talk about this!!! I had the privilege of co-writing a song on the upcoming Dollar Signs album. I wrote it in the middle of an emotionally taxing move during a time when I was feeling vulnerable and at the mercy of the hearts of my friends and loved ones. The first draft was a duet about falling in love, but then Erik suggested we rework it to be about loving the people you already have as they are, a theme that I in all my angst have seldom touched on in my art. We ended up coming up with something that was silly, rude and imperfect, yet sincere and promising, which I think is the only way I know how to love so far. I can’t wait for you to hear it. My time with @dollarsignstheband have been one of my favorite parts of being a musician. From the first weekend The Dandelions spent with Erik in LA in 2014 (that was my first tour!) to our stop in North Carolina when we finally got to meet the whole band and the rest of the beautiful Charlotte scene. That was in 2017 (my first national tour!) when we somehow found time to squeeze in a house show, the best open mic of my life, a brand new episode of Twin Peaks, and a front porch conversation that lasted until the sun rose into 48 hours. Quarantine may have kept us apart 2020, but I’m so glad it didn’t keep us from collaborating. I love you all so much.
