So I watched TROS...

I watched it with my sister and she is not a reylo shipper but I am, and I asked her about what she thought about Ben's death and she said that it was okay for him to die, that it was expected. But I just can't get my head around that?? I'm not even seeing this from a ship's perspective but from a character's perspective, why did Ben have to die after he was finally redeemed? That just doesn't make sense. Why wouldn't you give a character that had suffered so much throughout his entire life a happy ending with the person he loves??? I just don't get it. Can someone explain to me why Ben's death was okay?.

Bro, love him or not he was a villain. Yes he had his redemption but he still needs to be held accountable for his actions. He was never going to get his happily ever after, and he knew that. But you know what? That’s okay. Peace and freedom are what he got in the end, which is the best damn thing he could have gotten. You think if he existed irl you would be as pissed as you are now? No. You would want him to pay for what he’s done. Destroying planets, murdering innocents... that shits not okay, no matter how freaking cute you look. If you love the character you’ll see that he had a great ending. He made peace with Han AND Leia, and saved his love. If that’s not the best you were hoping for then you’re delusional kid. No way could he have gotten any better. He wouldn’t be allowed to live without trial, and he wouldn’t have gotten away with what he did. Sure he was being manipulated, but so what? He chose to do the things he did and that will never be okay.

I get it, I love him too. But get over it

Petition to change the ship name??

Here’s what we know now. Rey loved Ben Solo and Ben Solo loved Rey. Kylo Ren canonically died before Ben Solo ever ran like hell into that room, saved her life and had the biggest SMILE on his face.

Out of respect for all of this, how can we continue to call this ship Reylo? I’m just one tiny voice and it’s a big fandom with tons of momentum behind the existing name, but I can’t help but make a motion for — ReyBen? (Sounds too much like Ray-Ban?) BenRey then?? Help a girl out; I just need some of those healing powers(TM) for my heart right now and this seems like the thing to do.
