Dear Reader, for some daily unsolicited advice, and coming from personal experience, allow me to say this:
Don't censor your friendship.
In a similar vein to that post telling us not to hide our stuffed animals, I believe there are aspects to our person and interests we shouldn't hide from our friends (or potential friends).
Over these years I've been on earth, I've had to learn--often painfully or through embarrassment--that among the worst things for a friendship is to hide a part of yourself because you fear this-or-that person might reject you.
Of course I'm not speaking on taboo or morally-shaky territory (perhaps consider fixing that...) but insofar as sharing interests or hobbies; tastes in music or fashion; and even general likes and dislikes. Too often, it seems we try to "prune" ourselves in order to fit into an idea or mold in the hopes of not being cast away. Again, it may very well be different for you, Reader, but for me, this has been a lifelong struggle.
It is my hope that the lessons I've learned the past 30-odd years have informed me in a way that I can contribute my whole, authentic self to my friendships, and not sacrifice myself to some concept or misguided notion of what said friendship "ought" to be.
That said, take care, and be well, my friends--M
“You and I are of these people. All the silence is like space between us, but not like time: it does not separate us, it only determines the extent of what we have in common and makes it very wide.”

In reference to the previous, I'll very easily go from Bach to bbno$, then back to Hildegard von Bingen, and everything in between.
I thought so, too
