𓆩ꨄ︎𓆪 This is a blog dedicated to english fan translations/summaries of 头七怪谈 (touqiguaitan).
▲ DISCLAIMER : 头七怪谈 is a Chinese horror visual novel involving dark topics such as graphic descriptions of violence, cannibalism, child trafficking, abuse and more. Every character is person who has done something immoral at any point in the story. This does not reflect my own values, nor does this reflect the fans’ values.

vv translation summaries below
𓆩ꨄ︎𓆪 I am by no means completely fluent or an expert in chinese culture. I just want to help other non-chinese speaking people interested in touqi to access this series, and also to practice & improve on my own chinese skills :)
𓆩ꨄ︎𓆪 Not a professional translator — Touqi uses a lot of slang from mainland China and dated phrases, as well as words related to spiritual practices, hence it's a little hard for me to translate. (T^T) I will write notes to indicate parts I am unsure of. Please let me know if I get anything wrong ! I’ll only be about 80-90% accurate. I appreciate help!

Touqi has an English wiki on fandom, but it seems to be incomplete.
After the forum thread about the family of three stops receiving updates for now, another new forum thread pops up.
[Story] That Girl From My Childhood (1)
• A user by the name 青城山下 (" Qingcheng Shan Xia ", Below Qingcheng Mountain) says that the reason they are telling this story is also to looking for a missing person.
• " A long time has passed, I think [this person] can't be found anymore, but if there still is hope I still want to try. "
• They say their parents used to be part of a theatre troupe that performed plays, and that they would be invited to sing whenever there was a big event in the village.
• After they were invited to perform for a wedding, everything changed.
• That day, there were many village children backstage, and amidst the noisy children, QingchengShanXia saw a girl wearing red clothes.
• The girl's red clothes were plain and dark red, and wouldn't be obvious in a crowd of people, yet Qingchengshanxia says he remembers her because her face was distorted.
• She had white face paint, but didn't seem like it was any of the common face makeup*, and instead her face was fully painted white with distorted 五官*(wuguan, the five facial features) drawn on it.
A drawing of what she looked like.
• Another user 逍遥仙 (xiaoyaoxian, unconstrained immortal) remarks that the face makeup is like the kind used in dance performances involving sacrifices/offerings to ghosts.

The forum thread ends here for now.
*The face makeup being referred to here is 花脸(hualian), which refers to the facepaint/makeup commonly used in Chinese operas. Usually there are different common types of makeup for different kinds of characters being played in the opera.
*Wuguan is a term referring to the five facial features of the face in traditional Chinese medicine. These are the eyebrows, eyes, nose, mouth and ears.
At the same time of this forum thread popping up, the previous forum thread about the family of three updates.
[Asking For Help] The Family of Three That Lives Next Door Is A Little Strange... (2)
• Linglingling remarks that they felt way too tired today, so they asked their boss for leave. At 0:57 AM, they send an audio file of a baby crying.
• Someone's voice in the video says, " Why.... Why...? Ah..... Ah... The one that should die isn't me.... "
• The other users in the thread wonder whether OP has been possessed.

The forum thread ends here for now. None of the forum threads seem to be updating, so Li Yuting decides to take a break.
[Asking For Help] The Family of Three That Lives Next Door Is A Little Strange... (3)
• Upon opening the forum thread again the next day, it seems the audio clip has been deleted, and the rest of the forum users who weren't there ask what they missed after seeing the previous users' reactions.
• Choosing to ask moderator Shasha about it, Shasha says that the voice clip was deleted by Linglingling themself, around 2 hours after it was posted, and says that the voice clip does exist.
• Back in the forum, Linglingling says that the family next door have been getting weirder and weirder, and they also think that the family is possessed.
• They saw the mother carrying a statue of a god wrapped in red cloth, and she gestured for OP to come over and look, that the statue is her daughter. But the statue is of the Goddess of Mercy, so Linglingling thinks the mother has lost her mind.
• They said they went to sleep early yesterday, but heard the girl at his front door again, hitting the door with her head quite loudly. They'll complain if this continues, and will have to cut off good relations with their neighbour.
• User 淘淘不高兴 ("Taotao bu gaoxing", Taotao is not happy) suggests that because Linglingling opened the door the other night, maybe whatever was in their neighbour's house entered their home. The user suggests Linglingling to check for their own safety.
• Linglingling agrees and says they'll do it this weekend.

I haven't posted in a while, I've been busy, but I'll update the eng translation summaries soon. As of 14/08/2025, Touqi's full game has released on steam! Highly recommend to support the game if you can, it's pretty affordable for the sheer amount of content in it.
It's fitting that it came out in August - The 7th month in the Chinese calendar, as well as the month where the Hungry Ghost Festival typically starts.
The game starts off with you, the player, logging onto a forum website called " 骰七 " (tou qi). Here you are able to to choose the gender of your protagonist, Li Yuting.
[Female] 离雨婷, [Male] 离宇亭 (both read as Li Yuting, just with different chinese characters)
Following my playthrough, I will be using the female MC. Images taken from the wiki.
Li Yuting works for 西封杂志社 (xifeng zazhishe), which roughly translates to " West Mail Magazine Publisher ". It will be referred to as " Xifeng Magazine ".
Upon logging in, Li Yuting receives a message from Xifeng Magazine's editor-in-chief and also receives her work ID.
" 1. We need you to investigate the strange stories on the forum that were posted around the same time, and find out how they are connected. "
" 2. If there is something you want to find out, you can send a message to the moderator 'Shasha'. "
" 3. You can conduct an offline investigation if necessary, I've already helped you make all the relevant contacts, when the time comes just show (them) your ID. "
" 4. Don't reveal your identity to anyone unless you have to. "
" 5. If a criminal case is involved, please call the police. "
" 6. We are simply journalists, don't intervene, don't deal with, don't resolve, in addition don't get attached to any of the people involved in the situation, cause and effect is self inflicted. "
" 7. At the end of each case, please make a post to sort out the case. "
" 8. You are only an investigative journalist, please remember this, if there is anyone or any situation that involves you, you can contact headquarters to settle it. "
" If you have any questions, you can ask Sister* Qiu, she will answer you directly. "
Different forum threads will update and be posted as you look through the forums, so I'll try to summarise the story of each forum thread. I will refer to the forum original posters with "they" because we don't know their genders as of now.
[Asking For Help] The Family of Three That Lives Next Door Is A Little Strange... (1)
A user by the name of 铃铃铃 (" LingLingLing ", the sound of bells) remarks that their neighbour is unusual. The daughter would come out of the class at 12.57 am in the night.
Linglingling is the original poster for this thread, so I will refer to them as OP sometimes.
Linglingling says that they work the night shift, and since they live in a run down area, he can hear the creaking of the iron gate whenever she comes out.
The neighbour family often came to take care of/check up on Linglingling, and they gave him some cookies. But apparently, it tasted moist/damp, like it had been left out for a while. Linglingling ate a bit of it and threw the rest away because it didn't taste very good.
" In a moment I'll take a video for you guys to see, is there any experts on the forum that could take a look? Is this some form of evil, it looks like (she)* got possessed, this girl's family doesn't seem to care. "
In the video attached, Linglingling records a view of their front door slightly cracked open, in view of the staircase (assuming OP lives in an apartment).
They say there is a girl outside his door. There is a thump noise, as if the girl had bashed her head against OP's front door. She continued walking up and down the stairs. A baby's crying noise could be heard, which didn't seem to be coming from the girl. At the end of the video, the girl appeared in the crack of OP's door.
OP says that they are alright but didn't expect her to suddenly appear, luckily shutting the door.
OP comments on the thread next morning, saying they just woke up and don't know why, but they feel terribly tired, as if they had been beaten up by someone.
Forum thread ends here for now.

Notes :
*In Chinese culture, it is common to refer to others as 'Big Sister', 'Big Brother', 'Little brother', 'Little sister' etc, even if you are strangers. It doesn't necessarily mean you are biologically related.
*I sometimes add pronouns when directly translating quotes, because Chinese sentence structure tends to not use pronouns as often as English does.
