it’s not that darcy doesn’t have a soft bone in her body, it’s that she was taught to be on the offensive at all times. she has never been rewarded for being nice, and with that comes an unwillingness to do it. everything that has gotten her places has been cruelty and seizing power whenever given the chance, so that is what she focuses on. that being said, her affection and loyalty does come strong when earned, it just takes a very long time and a whole lot of respect to earn it.
