“That’s a relief,” Ridley murmured, once Scarlet had called the all clear with the first set of officers. She pulled up the roster and sent it over to the holopad he was using - the connection pre-established when they were on their way up.
“You should have the roster now, Captain.” She stated, leading them to the briefing sector where already people were starting to gather. Funny how quickly people can pass important information to each other. She greeted several of her crew, asked them how they were doing, and some in return were asking if she was going off for her weekly sporting session. The answer, this time, was no.
She waited until everyone was present, before nodding to Scarlet and his crew to say that they could begin.
“You’re probably wondering why I’ve called a sudden briefing,” she began, “We currently have some visitors from Spectrum on board this station, as you can see, who are here this week to aid in our security checks and system maintenance. They’ll be working around and completing reports that I and the commanding officers down on earth will be reading. There is nothing to be alarmed about however, and I’m sure that some of you will be relieved that it is during this already very busy week and not another week. This doesn’t mean you can slack off of work though, I do still expect a lot of hard work coming from everyone. That should be all.”
She turned to Scarlet suddenly, “Anything you would like to add Captain?”
As Scarlet and his team followed Captain O’Bannon to the briefing sector, he accessed the data pad that now had the sent roster list. “Ah, thank you Captain.” He found the crew members that had just come on board and checked off their names. He then copied and sent the file to the other data pads of his officers.
Once they entered the large briefing area, they stayed out of the way so that Captain O’Bannon could continue to gather and notify her crew. Once everyone was present, she made the announcement concerning Spectrum’s presence. Understandably, there was a few quiet murmurs at that - Spectrum was known as part of the global elite, special forces. When she addressed Captain Scarlet, he stepped forward with a nod before introducing himself and his people behind him.
“We aim to make this inspection and maintenance check as quick and painless as possible. We do not wish to cause too much disruption.” Scarlet assured. “To make that possible, we need you all to remain in this area until we are finished. Secondly, the satellite will be on temporary lockdown until the checks are complete. This includes any spacewalks or scheduled outside maintenance.” Again, there was soft murmurs, but there was no sudden outbursts. It seemed that O’Bannon had a disciplined crew.
“Jensen and Hamada will be taking quick, non-invasive individual scans of everyone and asking some questions. The quicker we can perform this data gathering and analysis, the quicker we can get you back to your regular schedules.”
Finished, Scarlet left the crew to their murmurs and spoke in quiet words to Ferguson and Matthews. The pair left the room to do the physical sweep of the satellite.
“Now that we got that out of the way, I wish to have a private word with you, Captain.” He addressed Ridley in all seriousness.
