"Well there's no way id loose to a creepy manipulatior like you!" This cel is out there!! I've seen it on rubberslug i love how she looks genuinely pissed of , id love to get in contact with the owner but I've had no luck finding a way to contact them to ask if they would be willing to sell 😞

I want this shot of anthy her eyes closed before she stabs utena shes contemplating whats she's about to do its a gorgeous shot , i have seen 1 shot from the sequence sell , i think it was a pan shot or just a standard cel i cannot tell because the screenshot is very very old and blurry but its possible that more escaped the studio if one is to ever sell it'll surely cost a fortune i only hope il have enough of that ever happens 😭

Thought id do a fun post about shots from utena id die for production material of!

My holy holy holy grails are anything from ep 34 especially anthy being stabbed by the 1000s of swords of human hatred id just love to have one!!!

Also this shot of her being stabbed in episode 39 is stunning (was kept by the studio though no hope getting her 😭)

Episode 39 in particular id love to get sketches of i have a sketch of anthy reaching out to utena and id love to get a matching sketch of utena and if im lucky of their hands reaching out , id love the cels but they're hard to come by and i think I'll be a while before id get my hands on them

Also the shot of anthy falling is suchh a grail for me!! Id give a kidney no joke

Another ep 39 utena shouting "ANTHY!!" in absolute anguish always pulls at my heart i know it was sold with its background a couple years ago (if the person who got it sees this if you ever thinking of selling it hit me up)

Episode 38 god the shot of akio backing up while anthy looms over is very chilling like she already knows whats about to happen her eyes being blank really add to it , id love to get the full cel set up background n all

Utena moving to protect anthy her eyes are so confident while anthy is so conflicted shes confused bewildered utena is going of the script i love how you can see the genuine emotion on her face we dont see it much in the show but when she is showing emotion its so so impactfull i would do anything for this shot but i assume its in studio archives

I love this scene visually anthy is pacing around disorientated almost while utena is beating aikos ass !! I love the flashing light and how fast utena is swinging at him while anthy just looks on, like the rose tinted glasses are cracking bit by bit , id love a shot of utena absolutely lunging at akio beat his ass girl!!

This shot in particular of her lunging at him!! Such a need

Also this shot of utena saying "this room just torments anthy even more!"

And her saying "im gonna be a prince " i love this shot soo much her eyes are gorgeous and she's so determined!!

I have been TRYING to find the name of the brands of cel paint(s) used in the 80s and 90s so I can find a color sheet for the ideal limited pallet to draw from for good good fake screenshots. I’ve seen Animex and Toei Animation Paints listed but I can’t trust that these are the accurate or only brands of the era. It’s totally possible that the paints used were from now defunct companies. I see a mention of Nicker paints used on backgrounds of Ghibli movies and other series ア-トセル or art cel paints seems to be a brand. Cel Vinyl Paints are listed for Disney in the late 80s with custom paints beforehand

I hope these colors are useful for anyone trying to make fake anime screenshots

We have a new song out today!!!!

“Think Fast” has been in the works since 2022. That year, we were busy writing songs for season 2 of The Owl House. We wrote “Think Fast” for the episode Them’s The Brakes, Kid - detailing Eda and Raine’s first meeting. But we never had the time to record it back then, and the song was forgotten.

…or rather, it was forgotten by everyone except our intrepid drummer, Alex. Alex believed in this song when none of us did, and was always asking when we were going to finally record “Think Fast”. And after releasing our album MAPMAKER last year, we realized that it was finally time to bring “Think Fast” into the world.

So we returned to the Boiling Isles, but with a MAPMAKER mindset. We gave “Think Fast” a pop-punk makeover, with big guitars and even bigger drums. We even threw in a synth solo and some banjos to give it that Oh Geeez, Not Again flair! 😎🪕

At its heart, “Think Fast” is a song about finding finding someone who inspires you - a friend who makes you feel unstoppable. While the world may try to keep the two of you down, your desire for adventure always breaks you both free. For Eda and Raine in The Owl House, that was a freeing moment, and we hope that there’s someone you’ve met on your journey who’s made you feel the same. 🧡
