The Academy Drum and Bugle Corps has announced that they are cutting their cymbal line.

I have a lot of feelings about this, and I’ve attempted to write about it several times. Unfortunately, I can’t seem to find the right words or keep a calm tone. Chelsea Levine of Seavine has written a post in the DCI/WGI cymbal page, and I’ve attached it below. I’ve also attached a petition which I urge you all to sign.

“Hey guys,

I unfortunately have some experience with a corps cutting their cymbal line dating back to after the 2010 Summer at Crossmen. Due to some major rallying from the alumni, members, and fans the decision was ultimately reversed. It’s important in times like this that we all as a community supportThe Academy Drum and Bugle Corps Cymbal Line. We need to vocalize the importance of the cymbal line’s existence within the drum corp. I think we can all agree that this crazy cymbal thing we all do is on a positive upswing and we need to do our best to continue that trend. Here are a few things we should all do if comfortable and willing.

1. Here is a graphic that I think would be great to all make our profile pictures. In doing so, please tag The Academy Drum and Bugle Corps so that the photo can start to trend. Their official page has an american flag as the profile picture.

In the caption of this post it would be great to not only tag the drum corps but also say something along the lines of why you want the line to stay around and also urging people to also communicate with the below people if they feel the same.

2. Please tell your friends, students, family, etc to continue to sign the petition.

3. Write a short letter and email it to the following people expressing your support for the Academy Cymbal Line and urging them to reinstate the line.

Who knows what will happen with all this but I personally want it to be known that hundreds of thousands of people support the existence of The Academy Cymbal Line.
