ilsyongjuâ:
( friday the thirteenth, with @ilsseongyiâ )Â

BOOM !Â
thunder splits her eardrums. the lights flicker briefly, and in that window of darkness, someoneâs hand has taken the opportunity to shoot through the opening between the shelves and clasp around her wrist. a chill strikes her spine.
âwhat the fuck!â
instinctively, she grabs the hand back and pulls, slamming the person on the other side into the shelves.
seongyi shakes runs his hand through his damp hair again.Â
he had been waiting for a stormy day like this ever since he had arrived to ilsang. it was perfect, to binge horror films in the dark. snacking on chips with nothing but the pitter-patter of rain against the windows of his dingy home. as much as he had hated it, he had to admit it set a certain ambience for the vibe in completely devoting himself to consuming scary content until his brain could handle no more for one day.Â
hence the dreary journey he made to the library with nothing but his black rain jacket that had done poorly to keep the long tufts of his bangs sticking out dry.Â
he had been in the library for a few minutes, browsing and picking up three films until he began his intensive search for a copy of the wretched. despite having been released a few years back, he had yet to give it a proper watch and after the urging of those who followed his theories and conspiracies blog and podcast he finally gave in.Â
seongyi figures it should be able to find the movie with the limited selection that the library seems to have. if they have it to begin with. but after a good five minutes of going through the bookcases, one by one scanning all the movie spines individually on each shelf heâs about ready to give up. until he spots the cover of a dvd from the other side of the bookcase.Â
where it with space showing just enough that seongyi can read the title, he breathes a sigh of relief knowing the library actually has a copy.Â
like the spontaneous lightning striking outside with the storm though, seongyi catches onto the figure of someone walking into the aisle on the side of the film he has his eyes on. and he thinks - what are the chances?
well. chances are he was correct because he sees them immediately reach for the dvd case and in a moment of desperation, as another bolt of lightning strikes outside flickering the lights with it this time, his arm darts through the opening of the shelf to grab their wrist.Â
the seconds that follow prevent them from taking his dvd, yes. but- seongyi is also aggressivlye slammed into the bookcase without warning. (though fair considering what he had done). the force of his body stumbling into the old bookcase is enough to have it vibrating for a moment before seongyi starts shouting and shaking his arm.
âhey man what the hell!â seongyi yells loudly before heâs able to break his arm out of their grasp. heâs quick to make his way around the shelf to confront them as he continues shouting.
âare you trying to rip my arm off?â

it seemed that as each day celebrating the festival passed by, there was more and more reason for seongyi to hate being a part of it. in all honesty, that meant his future looked pretty grim considering he was the owner of isang wonders. and therefore, obliged to take part by default whether he wanted to or not for the rest of his life. or, for as long as he continued to reside in ilsang.Â
the question was, if he were to step down from being the current owner of isang wonders, who would pick up the job? would the mayor personally handle that considering how much revenue and attraction the business actually brought in? would the business just die out? would he get disdained for letting go of it from the community? maybe his parents?
man, oh man. he felt a migraine coming on.
as much as he had hated it, it was the perfect time to catch a ride on the ferris wheel. to just get stuck where no one could come to him for help or anything. bother him with questions. he wouldnât have to interact with anyone. and he could just get some peace and quiet.
thatâs exactly what he thought he would get. until heâs being ushered through the line to the front where he gets mixed in a large group of people who are all too rowdy and loud and demanding for what he was expecting such a quiet ride to have. and then there are hands pushing and pushing, some more yelling and arguing before heâs stumbling into one of the ferris wheel capsules.
he immediately takes the chance to sit and stretch his legs out. just as he thinks heâs free of the crowd, someone else comes stumbling through the door and into the other seat.

seongyi didnât particularly want to partake in anything that had to do with the townâs annual festivities for âfounderâs dayâ... but a quick visit from mayor choiâs wife quickly changed all of that. alongside the water gun racing stall he had to prepare for â as the owner of isang wonders â he also had to make preparations for a float as well.Â
a long dig into the files and folders of his late grandfather found him an eccentric artist living in the outskirts of ilsang who had already been preparing the parade float from months prior.
moviez moviezz⊠zzzâŠÂ with @ilschaeriâ
boy. had it been a long day. and by long well⊠seongyi was stuck doing a lot of things he hadnât wanted to. first off, he wouldnât have been at the carnival at all if it had been his choice. there were so many other things that he needed to get done. so much research on wendigos waiting in his room at his fishy home. podcasts left unlistened that he hadnât had the time to catch up on since coming to ilsang because of all the responsibilities he suddenly had.
responsibilities that came with being the new owner if isang wondersâŠ
he wondered if it was too late to change his mind at that point and tell his parents he didnât want to start over in ilsang anymore. honestly, a boring desk job in the cities might have been the better option⊠but he supposes⊠being the owner of isang wonders did allow him a lot more flexibility to do whatever he wanted during a day instead of slaving away to a corporate business that gave no time for their employees.
either way.
the issue at hand here was that as the owner of isang wonders, seongyi was required to present at the carnival to host an amusement stall. not only was he forced to be somewhere he didnât want to be, he was now also forced to interact with everyone in town that decided to join in the festivities. and it honestly drained him.
so come time for his break and trading off shifts with the other isang wonder part-timers, seongyi made a beeline for the movies. perfect to say that he was still present if the part-timers needed any immediate assistance. but also perfect because he wouldnât have to interact with anyone and could actually get some peace to himself.
the beginning of spirited away starts and seongyi feels himself relaxing at once. perfect for some calm time considering that out of all the movies that were going to be playing through the week, he thought this one was the most tame.Â
and before he realizes it, his eyelids begin falling without much struggle and he falls into a deep sleep faced up, head cushioned with his hands crossed underneath it.
no congrats winner with @meiilsâ
seongyi stands there, unamused as he watches the young girl fail at winning the race yet again. for the milliionth time it seems, she slaps down another 2,000â© before he winds the game up again, resetting the horse target to the start. at this point, thereâs not much holding back the small eyerolling and grimaces he has after the numerous times heâs watched her lose at the water gun race.Â
heâll admit, it was fun the first few times around watching how determined she was to win despite her aim being horrific. but when that incessant flame refused to die and she continued going and going, even after the amount of others had come to join and leave with their own smaller prizes⊠it seemed she just wasnât satisfied with winning a small prize.
heâs lost count of the amount of times sheâs tried at this point. sure it was a pretty buck out of her sheer will power not to lose. but was it really worth the cost? with the amount of money she spent, seongyi was sure she couldâve bought something much nicer of much better quality too somewhere else.Â
so when seongyi finally hears the bell of victory ring a big âding!â he immediately perks up to see that she did it.
âcongratulations miss,â seongyi says, doing his best to offer an encouraging smile and delighted tone. âwhat prize would you like to claim for your win?â
event starters plot call hi guys! some of you have i have yet to respond to and i apologize! however, whether we were in the midst of plotting or not, if something below interests you and youâd like a starter from seongyi, please reply with which youâd like!
as newly officiated owner of isang wonders, seongyi is obligated to be at the water gun racing stall forcing him to be present at the carnival. maybe youâll find some entertainment during your time at the carnival with him.
no congrats, winner â okay. maybe youâre not too proud about it. but youâve definitely spent over 20,000â© at the water gun racing game. so what, you have bad aim okay. but hey! you finally won and it was worth it because you want that huge oddly shaped stuffed animal hanging on the corner of the tent. andâ what do you mean âi canât have that? I won it fair and square.â seongyi seems unremorseful in telling you that while the prize hangs there openly because âsome other kid won it firstâ. will you settle for a different prize? or barter for something better?
moviez moviezz⊠zzz⊠â youâre enjoying the spot youâve picked out at the front of the drive-in theater out front, blanket laid out, tasty snacks and more importantly, a great atmosphere with all the other viewing townies. everything is going great! that is until you hear the wretched sound of someone snoring softly, but loud enough for you to hear. you look around and it doesnât seem like anyone else notices it until you spot him. seongyi sprawled on his own picnic blanket just a few feet away from you with his mouth wide open. do you wake him up orrr do you start throwing snacks into his mouth until he wakes up himself?
hi, iâm the owner â amidst all the carnival fun, you notice an odd silhouette slinking back towards town hall before disappearing inconspicously towards the back of isang wonders. it seems completely suspicious if you were to be honest and maybe a little alarming. oh, and most definitely despicable that someone would try to rob the shop while everyone was busy with festivities. i mean, what else would they be doing? you follow them and find them picking the lock until it gives and they waltz inside without a care. what happens when you catch the thief aka isang wonders newest owner, nam seongyi?
fishy company â you want to ride the ferris wheel and end up getting pushed into one cart with seongyi in the midst of some confusion as a few people complain about how many can fit in one and who wants to sit with who among their large group. everything seems fine until you look at seongyiâs face andâ omg why does it look sick? Is he afraid of heights? and then you see him point at the fish odeng your holding in your hands.
a bed of rocks with @ilsyena
something about how the way that the ray of lights hit the water when the sun dances on the horizon is just right. especially after a day of hot weather, warm enough to induce sweat on anyone who steps outside. making the surface layers of their skin sticky and clammy. itâs when the sun sets that you know the day has finally truly begun as the temperature falls far enough that you can walk outside without dreading every single second that youâve existed in the heat.
more so, when you can bask in the warm caress of the sun without feeling any burning lashes across your bare skin.Â
that is the case for nam seongyi.
sprawled across the slightly rough ground of the ocean pier, a good walk away from the fishing port that reeked of - well - fish.Â
seongyi had come across it by accident. having forgotten that it was even there until he had taken a very angry walk one day to try to escape the smell of the town that had begun to stain every fiber of his being.Â
it had hit him like a brickstone wall.
when he had realized that he no longer smelled fish. and ever since then, the small pier had served as some sort of comfort to him whenever ilsang was becoming just a bit too much to handle.Â
such as the previous night.Â
cats that refused to keep him company in the safety of his home, meowing outside his window all morning. the old air conditioning box in his home, broken in far too many ways for his comfort. and the smell of fish wafting around his room with the janky fan he had pulled from the closet to help cool him down.Â
sure, maybe his bad sleeping habits didnât help the fact that by the time he was ready to knock out, the town had already begun waking up. the elderly vendors shouting across the streets and cheering heartily about plans for the day while he could do nothing to shut the sound or blinding sunlight out.
so alas, here he had found himself. seeking refuge on an oddly placed pile of rocks.
a better substitution for his dingy mattress at home compared to the broken and prickly pile of sticks lining the shore.Â
two hours lain on the ground. with no one or anything to bother him.
it might just have been the best deep sleep he had gotten since his arrival to ilsang.
â caught in a stitch â with @ilsjihyunâ tw: cuts, blood
his leg bounces up once. twice⊠three times before the grandma sitting opposite him slaps his knee with the newspaper in her hands.Â
âyouâre disturbing my peace with that incessant tapping of yours son,â she chirps loudly before returning to reading, eyes glued on her paper through the entire one-sided conversation.Â
seongyi doesnât do anything to reply. simply keeps his foot glued to the ground before pressing the small towel on his hand harder, to keep the pressure applied.
he had never taken his grandfather to be the type to hoard. it seemed over the years, his grandfather had built up quite the collection of random items. however, seeing as he was also the owner of isang wonders, it had started to make sense to seongyi when he saw just exactly what kind of things the shop sold to tourists.Â
â fishing for food â with @ilshaileyâ
âhave some of the grilled mackerel! here pass the plate! my husband caught them fresh this morning!â
âtake some the steamed monkfish, you know itâs my specialty!â
âtry the pollock stew, itâs extra spicy. aya, donât pretend like you canât eat spice!â
âhereâs the fried cod pancakes! i just finished cooking them so theyâre hot!â
the chatter of all the neighborhood adults and elders flows effortlessly around seongyi as arms come and go, crossing in front of him as plates and platters are traded across the set table. young children are heard in the background as they run around, throwing rocks and catching crickets before their mothers and grandmothers tell them to sit at the table properly for a warm meal.
itâs when a hot steaming pot of fish stew gets passed underneath his nose that heâs snapped from his silent daze. his nose scrunches in absolute disgust and it takes everything in him at that moment to not gag openly over the uncovered food. so he takes a deep breath â a BIG mistake.
the scent immediately fills the hollow sides of his cheeks and he has to turn to the side to hide the retch from his throat in the corner of his elbow, hoping that all the noise around them is enough to drown his disgust out.Â
when mrs. cha had invited him out for the neighborhood dinner, he hadnât imagined it would be his biggest nightmare ever. every single visible inch of the table covered in dishes that contained his biggest enemy in some way or form. FISH.Â
as if living in a fish infested vendor street wasnât enough, along with the smell ingraining itself into every piece of clothing he owned in the smalle home of his late grandfather⊠he had to be haunted by itâs stench on the table that was meant to finally be the first real meal he had since arriving to ilsang. cup ramen was only so appetizing after so many bowls you see. especially at the rate seongyi had been emptying out the local corner marts of their stock.
despite being quite unreligious and indifferent in generalâŠ
seongyi resorts to praying.
âgod please.â
âif you send someone who offers me something â ANYTHING â other than fish, iâll, iâll stop eating cup ramen so much and start iâll start cleaning the house. iâll have a better attitude about being in ilsang please.â
âiâd rather suffer anything else than this.â
ilsseojunâ:
you gotta be kitten me!
@ilsseongyi
now, seojun knew better than to be out alone at night, but, here he was, jogging on the portside trying to get in some cardio before bed. was he a little paranoid? of course! he knew that he could be attacked by ghosts at any minute, and yet he chose to keep running for the sake of his workout routine. that was until he heard a strange noise. no, it wasnât a ghost nor a goblin; it sounded like a deranged catâ a lost, miserable, deranged cat.
this was how it started; seojun watched movies like before. first there would be a mysterious noiseâ a bump in the night. the side character would cautiously follow the sound, like a sailor under a sirenâs hypnosis, and then, boom. they would never live to eat another rice cake again. and yet, despite having all of this knowledge, seojun subconsciously called out to the lost soul, like a mother cat comforting her crying kitten. âmeowâŠ?â seojun howled into the night sky, cautiously wandering around yeonhwa-gil.
ever since seongyi had moved to ilsang, it had been one mess after another. getting legal paperwork figured out for his grandfatherâs business - isang wonders. going through all the paperwork that was left behind for the businessâ plans. answering everyoneâs questions about why and where heâs been and what heâs been up too. and more paperwork for the residence on yeonhwa-gil he wholeheartedly wished he could sell to get a better apartment.
at the least, for one with working electricity.
because if thereâs anything he hates more than the smell of fish seeping through the walls into the old house and the plumbing not working, itâs when the electricity suddenly shuts off because of all the old wiring.Â
so of course, when itâs 3am and all the lights in his room go dark leaving him in the silence alone, seongyi leaves immediately.Â
to find a companion that is. because as much as he hated being inside alone in the dark, it wasnât any better outside. so he doesnât hesitate to do everything he can to coax the neighborhood stray to keep him company. the only thing is, the darn catâs buried itself behind all the dying potted plants and cardboard boxes in the small alleyway between the houses and seongyi canât reach it.
which â ultimately â leaves him no choice.
âmmmeoorrwâŠâ

âmeOOWâ
âjust come out, itâs creepy out here alone at night,â seongyi sighs under his breath before rolling his eyes as he gets down on his knees, leaning forwards to start shuffling the clutter aside.
and then he hears it.
a âmeowâ from somewhere behind him⊠in the streetâŠ
he freezes where he is on the ground, because⊠whatever is mimicking the cat sounds confused. it sounds like those really bad animal actors. but on the off chance it was another cat. one he might be able to catchâŠ
there was only one thing to do.
