More signs that this is PR…
1.) She gets a mainstream spotlight and gets to be seen as a big Hollywood player rather than just a famous person's kid. Being linked to Harry gives her a level of visibility she hasn't been getting on her own lately.
2.) He gets to be in the news every day without having to do interviews, answer questions, or actually be open about anything—all things he famously avoids when he can. We’ve, and I know I have, all said if he could make music and only perform for his job, he would do it in a heartbeat.
3.) Engagement and marriage rumors popping up in big outlets within days of one another is not real reporting. It's a way to keep the story escalating and get more clicks from people who are emotionally invested.
4.) When real celebrity couples get engaged, it usually comes out in one announcement (I’m not a huge TS fan, but she made the announcement)— it’s not a slow drip of "sources" teasing it for weeks. The slow drip is a PR move.
5.) Every set of photos from this "relationship" looks weirdly polished. Even some of the “organic” photos. Clear faces, good angles, everyone seems aware of the camera. Real paparazzi photos of celebrities who aren't calling the paps are usually blurrier, more chaotic, and a lot less flattering.
6.) The fans who have been around for years—the ones who have spent a long time learning how he talks, how he moves, what he actually says—called this almost immediately and almost all at once. That means something.
7.) PR campaigns aren't made for people who are already paying close attention. They're made for the general public, who will take the story at face value. His team clearly built this for casual audiences. That's a bit of a slap in the face to the people who have been here since the beginning.
8.) Not a single person in his real fanbase got anything good out of this. It didn't make me want to watch her movies. It didn't make me more excited for him. If anything, it made me more tired of the whole machine. I will still support, love and respect him. I listen to the album everyday, but you add the stunt on top of all the backlash, it’s a lot. It’s tiring.
