Morning Update!

     (OOC): WHAT”S THIS?! Yes indeed my followers I have decided to start reworking my icons. I have yet to settle on a style (I really like the gold coloring but a few icons just don’t make it work) but it is a matter I am working on! Turns out that there just isn’t a nice, high definition or anything related looking Swan Princess XP

In other news, I recently mentioned having come to a conclusion about the name of Derek’s kingdom. Originally I had been almost settled on using Lebedschwane, but every time I said that out loud to myself I bleh-ed about it. So to make it smoother on the tongue and generally more appealing, I am pretty much decided on using Lebenschwane. If anyone thinks the change is an improvement or not let me know! I like to get follower input! :D

Final note, I have been a tad bit busy, so I appreciate all of my followers patience and I look forward to getting the rp back in shape here! If anyone has suggestions on making icons look stylish I am also happy to hear!

Follower Opinion Diving Time!

     (ooc): Hello all you beautiful, sexy people! I’m in need of an opinion or two. As anyone whose seen the movie knows, The Swan Princess seems to have absolutely refused to put a darn name on any of the kingdoms. That being said, I’ve delayed making one due to not having an Odette to do so and fear of pushing a headcanon on one that might appear. However, it is high time I did something about it, so after some thought (and the magic of google translate), I am putting this name out there for the name of the now unified kingdom that Derek rules over:

Lebedschwane!

made by combining the Russian and German words for Swan Lake (the two cultures most inspirational and relevant to the very fantasy based movie) and jamming them together: Лебединое озеро=Lebedinoye ozero and Schwanensee. If anyone is interested in saying anything, what are your thoughts?

     “Woah!” Suddenly a small hand, possessing more strength than it should of had, was dragging him off to the side under the shade of a bakery. He was barely able to keep up when she started moving and he nearly fell over once she had stopped. Quickly regaining his footing, he barely caught her question.

“The lake?” Derek debated with himself, whether it was smart to talk about this. He didn’t know everything about what was up with it, but Rapunzel seemed safe. Glancing around to ensure privacy he leaned in and spoke in hushed tones.

“It is. It’s had a long history, but I do know lots of magic was practiced in and around it. Some good, some bad. Sometimes strange things happens because of it too, things no one can really explain. What I can say for sure is that it’s definitely no normal lake.”

“I didn’t know… real magic existed elsewhere! I always thought it had to, and people tell stories, but you never know when a story is real or not.” Her hand found the short, choppy ends of her layer hair style. “Do you know about my hair? Or… about what my hair used to be?”

Derek seemed safe. If he’d seen real magic, it couldn’t hurt to tell him about the properties her hair once possessed. Especially now that it no longer did.

     Truth be told, Derek sort of wished he never knew as much about magic as he did, but his kingdom was rife with a history of magic, so he guessed it was inevitable. He noticed her playing with her hair as she spoke, and a sudden feeling of empathy came over him. The way she was acting it seemed to be touchy to her.

“I’ve... heard something about it having been longer once... and blonde.” He scratched the back of his head a bit, worried over jeopardizing a new friendship, with a fellow royal no less. “It’s none of my business really, but I heard people saying something about a flower and... things.”

What are your hobbies?

     “I’m a bit of a sucker for archery! Every day I try and get up early to practice some. It helped me get some focus growing up, something I could get good at that I actually loved. I sort of didn’t have any interest in my future as a prince until I got older and realized the good I could do. Perhaps I am a bit too good pf an archer though, according to some people. I’m not permitted by Lord Rodgers to join an archery contest in the kingdom anymore.

Other than that, I guess I sort of enjoy typical things. Hunting is a similar hobby of mine. but I also like falconry and swimming. If it’s outdoors I tend to feel good while doing it,, but I’ve also gotten fond of chess, cards, and a bit of ballroom dancing. I’ve… also tried to write some poetry, but I don’t ever seem to be able to find the words.”

Not As It Seems~

Mid-morning was always Esmeralda’s favourite time of day; the smell of fresh bread baking, the morning bells Quasimodo would ring, children playing after their chores had been complete. It was the most peaceful time of day until the afternoon, when everyone would be rushing to get home, make dinner, or have a night on the town.

But it also meant it was easier to get people to pay a little coin for her dancing. Not that Esmeralda had a hard time getting coins when she performed, but it did help a little bit!

The sound of her tambourine echoed in the square, her colourful skirt flipping about her ankles, showing just a flash of bare skin. Her raven locks curled and twisted over her bare shoulders, emerald eyes their fierce green in the morning sun.

Esmeralda had gathered a moderate sized crowd about her, so she would smile at them and give winks sometimes to those she found handsome, or just to entice a little more coin.

     It was a simple trip. Visit Paris, get chummy with the royals, get a feel for the court, don’t say anything that would get him and Lord Rodgers in trouble, etcetera. Nonetheless, Derek wasn’t one to be cooped up, and in the free air of the mid-morning he quietly slipped out of his guest quarters and wandered the city.

Paris was certainly nothing like his home. Colors, noise, and sound stirred Derek’s curiosity, and each street he turned down seem to hold another view to enjoy. Between eyeing up some smoked pig and checking out a jewelry stand, a musical sound caught his ear.

Derek looked down the street, his eye suddenly being met by a woman, dancing her heart away and banging on a rattling hand drum. Locals were gathering or walking by, throwing in a few change here or there into the hat on the ground.

“That’s not anything like home” he muttered, but still he found himself getting into the small crowd and watching. 

While no skilled dancer, he still found himself smiling and enjoying the music, hands clapping a bit here or there as she swished about. Quickly he reached to his side and pulled out a small bag of gold, giving it a light toss into the hat. It was probably a bit more than she usually got (and more than Rodgers would have wanted him to give) but it seemed like the right thing to do.

The weekend is hardest hit at work for us, so I might be on at night to do some replies, but right now it looks like Sunday is my next good day (a day off at last!) so I should get most replies done that day or the next.
