Belated Birthday
Hello there, in celebration of my birthday, I thought sharing a post might do me justice, considering I haven't posted anything on my main socials, I thought it would do me some good. Honestly, I haven't got a clue what to say but considering I'm just talking into the void as we speak, why don't I share a birthday scenario that I had cooked up during my big day. It was just a little comic that Shea had drawn up when they were sulking (birthday's aren't really a happy day for us) but nontheless please enjoy. It took a few flicks before the lighter caught sparks and ignited, the singular flame flickered to life, and it burned bright against the dark expanse of the dining room. Holding the lighter carefully as they lit both candle wicks to the single-sliced birthday cake they bought on a whim that day. It was chocolate-flavoured, their favourite. As they watched the dim light of the candle burn slowly, the wicks burning black and curling into themselves. They merely watched it burn for the longest time. Leaning their cheek into their hand, they watched it flicker from their breath. Their under eyes, heavy and bruised from the lack of sleep. Yet they could only meagerly wish for sleep to reach them soon. They hummed the familiar tune of the happy birthday tune from under their breath as they thought back to a decade ago, almost laughing to themselves to think they were so naive to think that they wanted to grow up so soon. Never even realizing the trials that would be thrown at them with the speed of a bullet train, altering their livelihoods entirely. Changing the stary-eyed child that clung on to their dreams like a lifeline. When they finished the song, they stared into the flames again. Wishing it consumed them whole, "Happy Birthday, little me. Wish you were here right now," they said quietly before they blew the candles, enveloping themselves in a familiar darkness. It's not much honestly but I like to think Shea appreciated the effort regardless, considering we didn't really get any gifts and whatnot. Just a gift from me to them.
We're back?
Well it has certainly been a while, we never thought we could find ourselves crawling back here, even after the stuff we've been through, didn't think we'd make it this far again (Who are we kidding, life is a cunt) but much many has changed with us and who we are as one person. Many changes. Both the good and the bad. So certain fandoms we no longer associate ourselves with, some new, and some haven't changed (we're looking at you The Hobbit, you are literally are our roots.) Can't wait to show off what we've learnt from our time being away. While we won't be posting for a while, maybe a few months, just to finish our finals and what have you. We'll certainly try to be more active. Maybe actually join in discussions and be relatively more alive than how we left the husk of this blog and more excitingly post more. We certainly have improved (hopefully; we'll let you be the judge of that) and hope to contribute more to the blog and just build it in general. Maybe we'll dwell more about ourselves and show you a little bit of our personality. But enough rambling, hope to see y'all real soon and blessed be to all of you reading.

The history of the elves had countless variations and tales, whereas those of other races were a minority in comparison. Less exposed, but not entirely lost to those who continued to dig, even in an improper environment. For a place that encouraged research and diving deep into the roots of the past, the Arda Institute of Elvish History wasn’t too keen when the topics strayed a little underground.
Bilbo’s mind had always drifted away from a repetitive history that was far easier to unlock. The lost dwarven race that had disappeared some several hundred years ago, though, now that was exciting. It hardly aligned with the purpose of the A.I.E.H, but Bilbo had always somehow managed to make his case. Yet the real question was if any of them cared–which seemed to be a less than satisfactory response whenever Bilbo asked.
Today I thought I'd share a BagginShield Fic Rec List with all of you. Some of these are notoriously unknown and deserve alot of love for the sheer creativity.

In this au, Bilbo is Fae-Born from Belladonna, a hobbit fae, and a mysterious dwarf.
This story goes beyond the actual quest, and I would hazard to say it's only a halfway point to the actual plot and atagonist. It gives each scene a new storyline and dialogue while staying somewhat true to the OG story.
I have never been so invested in such a wild spin of world building and character/race design as this one. A must read, and definitely an ALL TIME FAVORITE.

In this au, The timeline has been reset. Bilbo and the others have no recollection of the previous life. The only difference? They sent Durin the Deathless himself back to try and save his lineage.
But, the catch is he's trapped in a beautiful stone. A stone that was founded by one Belladonna Took and given to Bilbo as a faunt. Bilbo seems to be the only one who can see and talk with the dead king.
This time around the quest is going to be MUCH different. And so is Bilbo.
Such a unique take on this genre and the descriptor doesn't do this story justice at all. Durin ends up adopting little bitty Bilbo and isn't too impressed by his descendents.

This fic is the embodiment of "The world says he is lost to me and I cannot save him. I say 'watch me'.
I think aside from 'Fae-born Hobbit', this story is one of my favorite characterizations of Bilbo. He's more Took and less Baggins, so more adventurous and bold and less likely to faint.
Each scene is a unique twist to the OG timeline, and I adore the buildup of relationships between Bilbo and other characters.

This fic is another example of amazing character development and psyche dive into Bilbo and the others. I think the only gripe I had was Bilbo didn't get as close to some of the dwarves as others in this one.
Besides that, it really is a must read, so well written and fluid.

This is another variation to the timeline in which both Bilbo and hobbits themselves are more than they seem.
It does take a few paragraphs of background history before the story really picks up, but from the first chapter onwards I was hooked.
Hobbits are special agents of the Valar and are gifted with 'knacks' to help keeping the peace in Arda. In order to keep hobbit-kind safe, their purpose and abilities are kept secret.
Until Gandalf comes along asking for one Bilbo Baggins.
This is such a comforting fic of dealing with greif and family bonding. The hobbits play a more important role than you would figure in this fic and the quest itself. A must read

This one actually confuses me a little bit. I'm not quite sure what the general idea of it is or where it's going, all I know is that it is probably one of the funnest fics to read about Bilbo.
His characterization and skills are entirely unique, though similar to previously listed stories. They're are strong fae-like qualities to this story and Bilbo, which I'm starting to grow attached strongly to as a trope.
Bilbo is also been adopted by Tom Bombadil and Goldberry, which is how his fae like attributes come into play.
Whatever you're thinking this fic is going to be, think again because you're wrong. I really don't know how to describe it but it is a fantastic fic and definitely in my All Time Favorites.

This one is more of an add-on fic to the OG timeline. It is a scene from their stay in Laketown where Bilbo is tasked with playing burglar for Bard, even though he is already quite sick.
The dwarves are very protective and only get worse when Bilbo is kidnapped.

Another All Time Favorite of mine. It's still in WIP and I am in desp wait for the next chapter. Bilbo arrives in the shire in horrid condition, heart broken, and pregnant.
At first the shire tuts and gossips about 'Mad Baggins', but then they find out Bilbo is pregnant and one of those dwarves left him to walk alone back to the shire..
Then the hobbits take it personal. All dwarves learn the hard way what it is to be on the wrong side of the shire. (Hobbits have somewhat fae like abilities in this)

All Time Favorite. Bilbo is forced into a leader role to save the remaining hobbits from a orc raid on the Shire. The terms are he has to marry Thorin in exchange for his remaining kins safety in the mountains.
I think I actually cried a few times this story is so well written in handling greif. The idea of dwarves fading after their ones pass and the effects, the hobbits trying to move on ... What an amazing story. I really can't describe this to you, you will have to read it.

The dark! Pirate / Mer fic you've been waiting for. Bilbo gets keelhauled into being a navigator for pirate Thorin Durin's ship on his quest to reclaim his homeland from the dread terrorist Smaug and Azog.
But theirs a catch, no one knows what Bilbo really is, and rumour has it Azog and his men are hunting for mythic seafolk.
Bilbo and the dwarves have much darker and cynnical personalities in this and wow is it worth a damn read. It's a fic I come back to now and again. I adore this trope and this story in particular.
Let me tell you, I am a sucker for Bagginshield fanfics, so just seeing this-
