No doubt any grumble that would have been issued forth would have been an overly loud one, Nor instead settling for a considerable roll of his eyes. “Says the one who’s covered in fur,” he hissed.

A surprised grunt, Nor shifting his head backward to stare down at the other with a furrowed brow. “Do that again and I’m shoving you out of this space,” he grumbled, the Argonian looking like he was very much not enjoying current things.

A devious grin split her lips, trying not to chuckle at the Argonian’s obvious discomfort. “What is wrong? Nor ha-...” She stopped suddenly, a thought occuring to her. “How will Nor shove? Door is lock, yes?” Did he mean to shove her through the door?

Her eyes widened in hurt shock as the mer cackled at her words. Lysa furrowed her brow, feeling her face get hot. “No, I, I didn’t think that! I just know this will probably be the only time I get to do this. I shouldn’t have come at all!” She set the bow beside her, standing. “I should go, I’m sorry to have wasted your time” she turned to make a quick exit. 

How embarrassing, she’d only meant that it wasn’t something she was ready or willing to take on right now. Maybe someday when she had another person to help run the shop, thought she’d only ever heard talk of getting another employee. She’d believe it when she saw it. As far as the book keeping, basic potion making and traditional healing for visitors, the shop was her responsibility and hers alone.

She hadn’t meant to offend the other. Etivia had thought this’d be the only time too. She’d had to coerce, barter, weasel, and even pay the girl just to get her out here. And that was all she’d wanted, just the one afternoon. She wouldn’t drag the girl off, she understood what hardship came with scraping out a living. Just like she’d understood how capable someone is, even if a few things are missing. But explaining that hadn’t gone to well either, now had it.

With a sigh, she ran a hand through her hair. Why was this bothering her?! She didn’t care if she offended people. Well... usually. For one, that girl, Lysanna, had been sweet as could be. Hadn’t even thought to pity her when she saw the prosthetics. And certainly cute. Which was pretty much just her type.

Another sigh, hanging her head. She got up, collecting her things, and heading back to town. She had things to do, and an inn to get back to. Perhaps, it was time she went out and got back to work.

Her nails bit into the skin of her palm as her hand curled into a fist. She controlled her instinct to send a fist into someone’s gut. This… ‘brother’ could be interesting, she had to keep that in mind. “Pardon, Keeper?” Her spirituality may be lacking, but she respected the view of the Brotherhood. The Original views that she’d learned at her indoctrination.

It was a jest, surely it was, but such a boldly stated observation made that curled grin melt away from the apples of his cheeks, even his skin seemed to pale– even more than his already sallow complexion provided. Flirtatious, and a date, instinct told him to recoil in terror at such unscrupulous endeavors. He had to wonder, doubting himself suddenly, if his behavior was too forward and perhaps he should tone it down…

He managed to peel his eyes away from the table top when he realized she had finished her round and was offering the knife to him for his turn. As it dangled, the light vaguely danced across the edges and polished surfaces, almost teasing him and his misguided loss of self confidence. Personal relations wasn’t exactly his strong suit, not that it ever was, but knives were his specialty, so he gently plucked the blade from her hands and positioned his own for another spin.

An apprehensive chuckle rumbled from his throat. “Surely, Sister, you give Cicero far too much credit than he deserves…” It was an attempt to diffuse her playful banter. 

Then he began, taking the blade and probing each space between his fingers and outside his hands. Each strike followed an even faster stab, his face fell stoic and his voice silent so that only the thumping strikes against the wood penetrated the still quiet of the room. The last one, outside his thumb and the knife landed a millimeter shy of skinning his digit. Seems he was moving too fast for his eyes to catch up. 

“Cicero’s just an old fool with… meager intentions.”

That... had not been the reaction she was going for. Why, the jester almost looked terrified since she’d made the suggestion. A very... curious reaction. Then again, perhaps he thought she’d been semi-serious? She did tend to keep herself distanced from the members of this sanctuary. There was no reason he should know that she was not the dating kind.

She watched his round, noticing how close he got with the last stab. Hmm, had she really rattled him? She frowned, especially as he opened his mouth again. “My apologies Keeper. I did not mean to step over a line. I assure you, I have no qualms about your intentions.” She sighed, her playful mood diminished. That is what happened when she went out on a limb. Things snapped. She held out her had, wanting to take the blade so she could begin her own turn.

Lysa gaped for a moment at the contraption under her teachers clothes. She’d seen some pirates and sailors who were able to function and work with missing limbs.. but she wasn’t sure she’d met or seen amputees outside that line of work, besides beggars. It certainly did make the mer more impressive in her beauty and seeming societal status, but…

She wasn’t sure what to tell the Altmer, it wasn’t just that she wasn’t sure of herself. Lysa had responsibilities, she couldn’t just leave the shop all the time. The fact that her father had asked her to not used weapons from a young age was also relevant despite how she was breaking the rule at the moment… 

After moments of silence the half Breton nervously met eyes with Etivia. “Well you’re right.. and I’m glad I did this.. you’re a good teacher and obviously really strong and able but.. I have a job right now.” She frowned tilting her head.

The mer was curious, watching the other’s body language. While the shock was understood, she seemed... distraught? She was hanging on the girl’s words, waiting to understand what was going through the other’s head.

She burst out laughing.

Oh, she couldn’t help herself, and held up a hand. She didn’t mean to laugh at the other. “T-thank you for such a kind rejection.” She sputtered a bit more, before getting herself under control. A few good breaths, and she was fine. “My apologizes. I didn’t mean to laugh. But, did you think I planned to whisk you off to be a master archer?” Her brow raised as she teased the other with the question.

“Of course I understand you still have your life here. The only thing I’d planned was the little lesson today. I didn’t even know if you’d want to continue after. Don’t get me wrong though, I’d be happy to teach you more. But if that doesn’t work for you, that doesn’t work.” She had a satisfied smile on her face, as she smoothed her pants back into place.

ena had groaned  rubbing his face trying to get rid of his pounding headache. odd, he was in a bed. last he remembered him and dzra weren’t staying at the inn because they didn’t have enough coin. but here he was laying n a comfortable bed with a horrid hangover. his spine coiled at the sight of hair that wasn’t his own making him close his eyes with a groan. hopefully if he was quiet he could sneak out before she woke.

“uh no just uh, just a headache.” he shrugged rubbing the back of his neck awkwardly. “um should i go? or what?” he asked unsure of what to do now. she seemed interested but it had also been so awkward he wanted to slink out. besides, dzra was probably looking for him.

Eugh. He was too focused on himself to be fun to tease. She sighed, a little peeved, and rolled over. “If you’re dying to leave so soon, don’t let me stop you.” Honestly, no concept of manners. She may’ve been a one night stand, but she was still a person. As she went to get out of bed, she felt a small RIP. “...shit.” She tugged at the sheet, seeing that her prosthetic had managed to snag a small hole in it. Well, it was the inn’s problem now.

She blushed, “I just did what you said to do…”  Lysa nodded at the idea of more shots and again ran to retrieve the arrow. On her return she shot and ran three more times, one of which did stick in the very edge of the target. 

Her arm finally tired too much to go on and she sat at the base of the target tree. “It’s fun,” she admitted, smiling up at Etivia. “I didn’t think it was remotely so um, doable..i suppose.”

Etivia watched her next three shots. Still alright. She was still good for a beginner, she just had to keep practicing to learn how to adjust better. She smiled as the other admitted to enjoying it. She chuckled at the unsure admittance.

“You’d be surprised how many things are ‘doable’. You asked if I use blades earlier? Well, of a sort.” She leaned against a nearby rock, pulling up one leg of her pants all the way to the knee. It showed the metal prosthetic that she walked on. Even where it attached to skin at her knee. “The key is, you just can’t let things stop you because you can’t do them like most people.”

She listened carefully, glad for the mers help with positioning again. A bit higher than the target, so.. Lysa drew the string back carefully remembering how she’d done it before, the arrow had flown far and fast so she must’ve done that bit right at least. 

When the fletching was near her ear she set her sights on a spot in the tree they’d chosen. About a foot wide and too tall to see the top of. Steadying her breath for a moment before she inhaled, releasing the string. As her eyes lost they arrow they flew to the tree. It wasn’t there either. She frowned, taking a few steps forward and examining the target. There was a cut in one side deep enough to take bark off but not quite hit the mark. “I almost hit it!”

Etivia was more used to watching arrows fly, so she kept sight of it longer. She managed to see how close the other had gotten. “Very good. Especially for a first shot with a new bow. Even more for first time ever. Want to try again?” Now that she’d established where the arrow sights were, she could adjust to actually aim. No one ever got it right on the first try. Not unless they were extremely lucky. Even then, it wasn’t something repeatable. But this girl, she showed some potential.
