When you arrived in the glade, you and Ben created a very strong bond. You didn't knew why, but it did. Maybe it was meant to be. Each time he went back from a day in the maze, you were waiting for him infront of the doors and you were spending the rest of the evening together. It was your routine and you hoped it would never change. Today, as always, you saw him running between the two big walls. "Beeennnnnnnnn! - I like when you're there and wait for your valiant knight. It makes me feel... powerful. - If only Newt loved me, I swear you'd lose your high title. But, for now, you can keep it, lovely Benny. - How many times do I have to tell you never call me like that? - Hmmh... more than one million. Come on!" It always been like this. You had a very strong level of sarcasm, almost as much as Minho. You liked to see Ben's reactions who him was quite serious. "When are you going to tell your cutie Newt about your feelings? - Ben. - Y/N. - Don't talk about this. - Too late, we already are. - You know very well that he doesn't like me and he will never! Hey where the shuck are you going?" Bored to hear his lecture, you were simply gone. The conversation always ended up with this and now, you were more than pissed off. "I'm going far from you and your life lessons! - But... Who's gonna draw my map? - Minho's arriving soon. I'm not the only who can draw!" The evening went slowly. You talked with other gladers than Ben and after you went early to bed. You wanted to talk to your best friend, but you had too much pride to admit you were wrong. The next day, you did the the same thing as always: you put seeds in the earth, harvest the crops and again and again. When the sun started to leave, you went to the gates and waited for Ben. But this time, you only see Minho. He usually shows up after Ben, cause he runs two sections instead of one. "Hey Minho! Did you see Ben? - Weirdly no. Maybe he hurt himself or he took a break, I don't know. - Hmmh... okay. Well, thanks." You felt guilty. Was he mad after your little quarrel? He usually recovers fast and it doesn't affects him that much. Where the hell could he be? "Y/N, Ben is trying to strangle Thomas! Come and get him!" You saw Winston shouting at you. As soon as he said it, you run where the gladers were gathering. You saw him and a pang caught you. His hair was dirty and messy. He had many open wounds on his arm and his leg. His face was terrifying. Blood was streaming down his nose and his eyes... God his eyes were black. Shocked, you didn't moved. What happened? Ben never ever been violent and he neither never spoke to Thomas, the Greenie. Then, why he is all over him and punching his face? "Ben, stop that!" You screamed. He didn't hear you. You tried to stop him with words, but your best friend seemed to be in a transe. Like if someone controlled his moves and his words. You finally decided to surrender him with your arms. "Calm down, Benny. It's me, Y/N. - A griver... Stung me." His words frozed your blood. You never seen a Glader in what they call the transformation and you neither never wanted to see this in your entire life and even less your best friend! You hugged him tightly while he cried in your neck. Alby and Newt arrived quickly and snatched Ben from you. Alby lifted his shirt (A/N: revealing his abs oh god srsly jk) and what he saw gave him right. The stung was spreading all over his belly. "He got stung." You almost said a sarcastic comment like: "no, really? I thought a griever shucking hugged him!" Instead, you asked the question that would turn your world upside down. "He won't be banished, huh? Newt, pinky swear me he won't be banished! Please! The tears were streaming down your face. Losing your best friend would be the worst thing that could happen. "We have to make a decision, Y/N... He attempted to kill a Glader. He transgressed one of the three rules... - Can't you see that he's not him? You can't judge by his behavior 'cause Ben is not Ben! Someone is controlling him and making him crazy!" You were now shouting and crying while Zart and Winston tried to keep you with them. Clint and Jeff carried to the Med-Jacks room your inconscient best friend. FOURTEEN DAYS LATER "Y/N? - Ben!" You ran across the small room and tightly hugged him. Ben has been comatose for two weeks. All this days you were sit on an incomfortable chair, watching and protecting him from his nightmares. "What happened while my absence? - Well, there was a vote about you know, keeping you or not, Minho ran a lot and Thomas recovered from his injuries. Oh and... I did it. - What? - I told him about my secrets feelings and you know what? He felt the same way! - Nooooooooooo, you don't say? - Wow Benny. I didn't know you could be sarcastic. At least the grievers did something well.
