I genuinely believe fanfic is deeply personal and people write for themselves, but FEEDBACK MATTERS. Reading someone's work and not leaving kudos is like going to someone's house, eating their food and then leaving without saying thank you. It's not nice.
Only the ones who wore the crown know its true weight. No other saying has come close to the truth for Rikkai Daigaku Fuzoku Chuu’s Boys’ Tennis Team. With each year of winning the championship title means it’s another year of them having to defend their throne.
With every win, their training becomes more merciless. Running drills takes out the air in the members’ lungs until nothing is left. Their practice matches will continue for hours until they’re too exhausted to move, arms dangling and numb.
It is gruesome, to say the least. Others may say it’s excessive, going through rigorous routines all for a sport and a middle school club. But none of their opinions matter, for none of them will understand. This needs to be done.
In Rikkai Dai, excellence is the standard, and winning is the baseline. All in the name of continuing the legacy handed down by their predecessors. All so they’d remain as the undisputed, the undefeated.
To keep the crown on their heads and the titles on their backs, pushing past their limits and overcoming great challenges is the bare minimum. They need their skills and talents to be unparalleled.
And they were, for most of their matches, until they weren’t.
Yukimura Seiichi sighs, water dripping down his face and neck, soaking the collar of his club uniform. Only now does he feel the excessive heat from the match and the summer weather, sending shivers, like a thousand prickling needles, down his arms and back.
“… I lost,” Yukimura mumbles, fist clenching, his head hanging low. His team had held on, fought against contenders aiming for their crown, while he fought for his life. And when he came back, they, without a second thought, handed him their utmost trust, believing in his skills, his prowess.
They gave it their all, and still, the throne, the title, the crown were all snatched from their grasp.
Yukimura Seiichi, one of Rikkai Dai’s Three Demons, the ‘Child of God,’ let a first-year student from Seishun Gakuen take it from him.
How can he face his teammates now?
“Seiichi.” He would’ve missed the call, thinking he imagined it with the whispers of the wind, for how faint it was. But when the stomping on the ground grew louder with every step, Yukimura knew he was no longer alone.
“Senpai,” He says, stunned. He didn’t know he would come, for the last time they’d seen each other was during his predecessor’s graduation, when he handed Yukimura the metaphorical torch and his blessing to lead the team.
“You did well, Seiichi. You wore the crown well.”
Yukimura’s eyes fall to the ground. He doesn’t want to hear it, the obligatory ‘well done’ or ‘good job.’ Nor does he want the consolation prize.
He doesn’t want his reign to be remembered as the year Rikkai Daigaku Fuzoku Chuu’s Boys’ Tennis Team lost.
But they did lose.
He doesn’t want to be remembered as someone who failed.
But he did fail.
“You made it look easy, senpai, guarding the crown and what it stands for.”
The crown was taken off his head and put on another.
Yukimura Seiichi’s reign has come to an end.
“It’s heavy, isn’t it, the crown and all that it represents.”
me: i haven't watched or read anything about the prince of tennis in years
also me: now, i want to write a drabble for my favorite prince of tennis middle school *whisper* rikkai dai *whisper*

Set a timer for 15 minutes (or however long you want) and then write. Do not stop. Don't edit or delete anything. Don't hesitate. These 15 minutes are just for you and your writing. Afterwards, you can leave the work as it is, delete it, or edit it. You can either move forward with it or move on from it. But for these 15 minutes, get it all out of your system.
How much can a person change in such a short amount of time?
It's the first question Takeshi Muroi asked after seeing his "old friend," Fujita Tatara, perform during a not-so-typical ceremony in front of the entire student body.
Do you have any tips for how to slow down time in a story?
How to slow down time
To slow down time in your story you need to use a mix of different writing ingredients: you need different descriptions that capture the reader in the moment as well as internal monologue and different sentence structures.
Detailed Descriptions:
Sensory Details: Use the five senses—sight, sound, smell, taste, and touch to describe what the character is seeing, hearing, feeling, smelling, and tasting in intricate detail.
Detailed Observations: Zoom in on small, often overlooked details. The sound a tea cup makes as it hits the ground, the way an expression on a character's face changes, the turning of heads as someone enters the room.
Slow Motion: Manipulate the time by describing how it feels like slow motion to the characters: "Time slowed down, and it felt as if the whole of humanity had decided to stop breathing for a moment."
Physical Reactions: A detailed description of the physical aspects of a scene. The movements a character makes, how their gaze turns, their breathing changes, their body begins to shake.
Psychological Aspects: Focus on the anxiety of a character looking at a clock that never seems to move, their nervousness seeping out of them
Internal Monologue:
Memories and Flashbacks: Add context by showing memories or flashbacks that relate to the situation.
Pondering: Let the character reflect on the situation, their feelings and their plan for the next steps. Let the reader explore the character's inner life.
Dialogue:
Reduced Dialogue: Dialogue brings a scene into real time. Use it thoughtfully and sparringly, with lots of inner thoughts and reactions in between.
Silence: Make use of silence between the characters which can be filled with more descriptions.
Language:
Smaller Steps: Write out each action taken, no matter how small, and focus on describing each step that happens.
Control Pacing: Use your sentence structure to create long descriptions that slow it down, and short, impactful ones to pick up the pace if needed for a moment.
How is this possible? Narumi stares at the screen hard, unblinking. It shouldn’t be possible, that is. There is a reason people are calling him “The KING,” and with all capital letters in the gaming community, mind you. No one could ever beat him except for BEEZ, so, again, how is this possible?
“O-One more,” Narumi stutters, fingers ready on the controller’s buttons, his hands shaking slightly — in utter disbelief or frustration, he doesn’t know. Maybe both.
“Are you sure, captain?” You say, smirking, yet your fingers are already in position, itching for another go. In the back, you hear the rest of the First Division members barely concealing their amusement behind their drinks. They clearly relish at the sight of their captain losing his wits whenever the screen screams ‘VICTORY’ in your favor.
Narumi’s night wasn’t supposed to go like this. Talks about the Defense Force’s newly implemented ‘Team Bonding Activities’ have reached his ears. Still, he didn’t put much thought into it, believing he could sneak away, lock himself in his office, and avoid the whole thing entirely.
But apparently, his division thinks otherwise, as just a few hours ago, they all came barging through his doors, chips and drinks in hand, with Hasegawa himself in the lead, completely overthrowing Narumi’s plan of an all-nighter gaming session.
They even dared to say, “It’s called ‘Team Bonding Activities’ for a reason, cap’n. And last time we checked, you’re part of this team!” Downright ignoring his pained expression.
As members of his squad, shouldn’t they listen to what he has to say — their captain? The freaking traitors.
Team Bonding: what a ridiculous notion. Narumi scoffs, his fingers aggressively pressing the controller’s buttons, eyes dry and exhausted from staring at the same screen for hours. How many rounds have they played already?
“Oh, no. Not again,” You say, the faux shock and sympathy grating on Narumi’s bones, especially with the big, bold letters flashing on the screen, seemingly mocking him. Oh, how badly Narumi wants to throw the controller at the television or, better yet, kick everyone out of his room so he can focus on the new game he bought.
You sigh, dropping the controller like it pained you to even hold it. “Captain, this is such a boring game; it’s not even difficult to defeat. No thrill, no challenge.”
Waiting for Captain Narumi’s reaction to another victory of yours has the corners of your lips twitching, subtly tugging into a teasing smile. You’ve always found his reactions endearing and, without a doubt, entertaining. There are no restraints, just wholesomeness and honesty, with a pinch of silliness.
No, a bucketload of silliness. But that’s what makes him magnetic.
So when the opportunity arises, you take your chance. “Or maybe the king isn’t that good, and it’s time for him to be dethroned. I guess it’s just right to crown a new queen instead?”
And Narumi lost it.
Safe to say, the First Division’s first-ever ‘Team Bonding’ was… quite a success — in the squad’s opinion, but not so much in Captain Narumi’s.
hello, it's me. how have you guys been? i know i've been gone for quite a while, and i haven't posted anything in months, but i just want you all to know that i always see the likes and reblogs you all do for my works. and i appreciate them so much 💖
so, when i finished writing this little drabble for narumi gen, i couldn't wait to post it ahead of time. i'm like:
jeuel: *schedules posting date and time on tumblr*

so... here we are! 🙌🎉
also, you guys might be confused as to who BEEZ is. don't worry; it's an ign (in-game name) of an original character (of sorts) for another narumi gen tumblr i'm working on. yeah, there's a ton of girls running around narumi gen's sphere lol
What do you mean you don’t know when she’ll wake up?
Captain, please, the impact on her head when she fell from the attack did a damage to her skull, leading to her current state. There is nothing much we can do but wait.
Huh? What— what’s going on? What are they talking about, and is that… Captain Narumi?
Nothing? No. We have the best facilities and the best equipment. What do you mean there’s nothing we can do!?
Captain Narumi, stop! Let go of the doctor now!
Master Moron, you need to calm down.
Wait— what is going on? Nothing is making sense.
I’m sorry, captain. We did our best; it’s all up to her now.
Every day, I hear them come and go, the soft clicks of a door closing, the tiny creaking noise of a dragging chair, and the constant beeps copying the rhythm of my heart. Sometimes, I can sense the cold wind on my skin or calloused fingers brushing my cheeks and grazing my hand. But I’m not too sure.
Everything is reverberated with dullness, like how I can hear the voices but never make out the words. It’s all muted and unclear.
How long will you keep sleeping? You’re worrying everyone, you know.
I don’t know, I want to say. I’m trying — really, I am. But everything is so heavy, like my muscles are too lazy to function, and every fiber is on a strike, not wanting to do its obligations.
You need to wake up, you hear me. You promised to follow me into battle, to have my back as I have yours. I’m holding you to that promise.
I remember. I did promise him that.
My finger twitches, and I hear a gasp. Already, moving a single finger feels like lifting an enormous boulder with my entire being only an inch off the ground. But the same calloused fingers grab my hand, warm and encouraging — cheering me to push forward and out of the abyss.
You need to wake up. Who else would pull me away from my games if not for you? Who else would control my impulsive buying? Who else would I listen to?
Ah, he’s right. Who knows what may happen if I leave the captain alone? He’d probably make Hasegawa-san want to pull out his hair — and that’s saying something when he’s already bald.
I chuckle. It probably sounded like a concerning wheeze. But it doesn’t matter, for all I can think of as I forced my eyes open is, “I cannot let Captain Narumi down.”
And what a sight for sore eyes he truly is.
How bad were my injuries? Did you really try to hurt the doctors who took care of me?
Can I still fight? Will you still let me stand beside you?
Did we succeed with the mission? What else did I miss?
Have you set the First Division up in flames yet? I pray and hope not.
How long have you been waiting, captain? Did I make you wait long?
I’m sorry for worrying you. Though, I can’t promise I won’t do it again.
I want to say so much and ask so many. But all that comes out is…
“He-hey, Gen.”
jeuel, did you just write a 500+ word drabble? well, yes. yes, i did.
and let me tell you, it shocked me as well.
if you're new to my inconsistent and random drabble posting, i normally write for whatever fandom i feel like with whatever concept i can think of — mostly angst, not much on comedy. and usually, they only end up within 100 — 300 words, never 500!!
so this, for me, is a monster drabble 🤯
idk what happened, i just kept writing. and when i was editing it, i just couldn't keep it within my preferred word count range. when i took some paragraphs out, they didn't make sense without them. so, i just said, "screw it!! leave it like that."
There it goes, the final whistle. A sign of the end and a basketball player’s — no, a basketball team's — worst nightmare. A call for all the players to gather at the center, bowing heads as a sign of respect amidst the loud cheers and claps and ‘good jobs,’ before moving on to their locker rooms, where the winning group parties and the losing team pack their bags, forcing their tears to stay put and not show itself — not yet when there are spectators.
Those rules don’t apply to you, so you let the avalanche of tears go.
Undoubtedly, it was one of the fiercest battles you have ever witnessed, with their teammates barely keeping up or completely letting them run their own pace, knowing they would just be in the way of their Miracles — a match so intense that the entire venue hardly breathed a word.
“Ryota,” You whisper, hands on your mouth, shutting down the whimpers wishing to escape as your heart shatters at the sight. Of your boyfriend buckling on the ground, his ankles and knees giving, and over-exhaustion taking over his muscles.
You are just relieved his teammates are there to share the burden with him, to carry the weight when it becomes too heavy — never abandoning him.
Good members build a good team. You think, and before your tearful eyes, you know Ryota is in better hands.
Even with a heavy heart from their loss, finally, you can breathe.
sooooo, i'm probably out of my mind for writing about a character/fandom that i haven't seen in years 😬 and i think it's showing.
honestly speaking, this drabble drastically changed from my initial idea to what it is now, and i am still not 1000% satisfied with the outcome. but i just don't know where this is going anymore. and if i sat on it for far too long, i'll end up scrapping it. and i don't want that 🙁
I just think people write out of obligation too often.
"How do I motivate myself to write through the boring part of my story?"
"How do I make this boring scene not boring?"
Don't write it.
Don't write boring things just because you think the structure of the story demands it. I promise it doesn't need to be there.
If your characters need to have gone shopping for a later part of the story to make sense you can just have a sentence about how they went shopping and move on.
You are not obligated to write the boring parts. No matter what those parts are.
You are not obligated to make the parts of your story that you're not excited to write interesting somehow.
You can just write the fun and interesting parts and gloss over and summarize boring things.
Your audience will thank you and you will thank yourself.
She didn’t know it would feel like this. The media, the people, and the news made it seem like the Japanese Defense Force was unstoppable — always victorious. But it was all a facade — a rose-tinted image to ease the public’s worries and fears.
She sat on the cold tiled floor, a blink away from hurling whatever was left of my already empty stomach into the toilet.
“You did your best. You did your best.” She chanted. The image of a town, once full of life and happiness, forced to its knees by just one kaiju appearance surfaced. She can still smell the sizzling wires and rubber. How the dust-filled air engulfed her lungs, covering every inch. And the sounds of silent pleas and whimpers between the rubbles haunt her all night long.
It was a harsh wake-up call, a sledgehammer to the back of her head.
“Why— why!?” Why, what? She doesn’t even know. She was barely coherent, drowning in the darkest pits of her thoughts — a scene constantly tormenting her. “Why!?”
“You need to stop, or else you’re going to hurt yourself.”
“Vice-captain Hoshina?” He sounded different, quite unlike his usual self — quieter, more subdued. Or is this how he truly is — entirely the opposite of his fun, carefree, and always-laughing self? Was it all a front to protect himself — to hide away his vulnerabilities?
“How can we move on from this?” She asked. She didn’t need to clarify; her meaning was as clear as the vivid images inside her head.
“We don’t.”
And he was right. They are the Japanese Defense Force, and it is their duty to save and protect the citizens at all costs.
“Go to sleep. We still have work tomorrow.”
and i'm baccckkkk!! 🙌 🎉 it's me, hi. how have you guys been?
i had this idea waaaaay before i took a break from writing/posting, but since life tends to smack me in the face, i couldn't write it until the last leg of july.
anyway, here is a what-if scenario: "what if they, the third division of the japanese defence force, encountered a mission where not all citizens were saved during a kaiju attack? how would it affect them?"
WIP stands for work in progress. This usually refers to the most recent work of an author that they are currently working on. But it's also possible (and very likely) to have more than one work in progress at the same time.
WIPs are still works in progress even if no progress has been made on them for a while. They can only lose this status in two ways: the author intentionally abandons them for good or by finally completing them.
