I went on an adventure yesterday, it was surprisingly nice weather for the time of year
Autumn is nearly over,
There was a fiber fair in town so I bought a bunch of pretty things to spin!
Now that this project has been delivered to its recipient, I can brag about it online a little.
I made this Elizabethan petal hussif for a friend who received an award for her historical costuming work. Hussifs were often used as sewing kits with spots for all of the notions you need for a project. Wives would send them with their husbands to war with extra uniform buttons and repair supplies. This one has an inner pouch area that can fit a small project or pieces thereof.
So I took a little (a month) break from the Internet, (I highly recommend it if you're feeling overwhelmed by the amount of stuff you have no control over) and after a few hours of being very bored I decided to reduce my fabric stash,
The rules are I can buy new fabric if I need to, but I have to end up with less fabric to put away,
So far I have made 2 nightgowns (not pictured),
A corset, this was is my third attempt at a corset and I think I kind of know what I'm doing now, I reused all the bones and busk from my previous corset so I didn't have to buy anything.
A vintage apron, (very hard to get a decent photo of)
Except for the red ruffle I didn't have to buy anything for this either,
And then I got sick so I made a jacket for being unwell in, this is made of material I already had, but I am considering buying some large buttons or toggles for it.
I think it is my favorite thing I have ever made, I feel like Bilbo Baggins, and also like I am wearing a blanket, (it is lined with polarfleece which breaks pretty much every rule of lining, but it is snuggly so I don't care)
Once I recover from this horrible cold I want to do something with this,
Because I am determined not to let it languish at the bottom of a box because it's "too beautiful" to make anything with.
I am currently having Brie problems, every two weeks or so I make the exact same recipe and before Christmas every batch turned out perfect. Since Christmas I have had too hard Brie, Brie that grew no mold at all, and now this....
I've had bries on the softer side before but I think this is my first case of actual slip skin, I opened the fridge this morning and it was just sitting there in a puddle of liquid cheese. I don't know what I'm doing wrong because I'm getting very different results with the exact same ingredients and process.
On the plus side the cheese still tastes fine
For his 21st my brother requested "medievalish" food, a perfect excuse to make marzipan fruit
The meat

It's the middle of summer, obviously the perfect time to sew up a woolen blanket,
(I am trying to reduce my UFO pile, it's getting ridiculous)
Fruit!
Cheese making day, feta, ricotta and my first successful mozzarella (without using citric acid).
I was planning on making Brie but I am currently out of white mold so that will have to wait for next weekend, I'm making pizza tonight so the mozzarella will be gone pretty quick, I don't really like ricotta but it seems like such a waste to throw out the whey when it could be used for something, I'm sure someone will eat it
Pizza!
With a sprinkle of Romano cheese I made last autumn for flavor
Success!

Finished!
Now I need to figure out something for around the collar
The yearly pea picking expedition,
My next piece of embroidery, I'm only using white thread for this one, I think I'm going to have to look up some more outline stitches.....

Did you know you can buy moulds for making resin dice?
And there is nothing stopping you from using toffee instead of resin?
