Dish Duty||Hans & Kristoff
It was a set up, he should have known it from the start.
“Oh Hans, my lovely and dashing prince, my servants are beleaguered with illness and exhaustion and must rest or they shall perish! Would not a noble, young, gorgeous and heroic prince take up the most terrible task of washing dishes for them!”
Well, that wasn’t an accurate quote, but it was close enough, and he out of the kindness of his heart (and some sort of evil magic he must have not seen) had agreed to wash dishes like a servant.
Stepping into the kitchen and coming face to face with a certain ice harvester was not one of the discussed points between them however. He blinked for a second before mustering some sort of response to the man.
“I think I was more conned into it at this point, but yes, yes she did.” He took the hand and shook it. Best to be civil after all. Not like either of them really knew each other, outside the fact that he was a smelly, reindeer talking ice harvester raised by magical trolls. Sounded like a fairy tale character when looking at the whole picture.
What a brilliant plan Anna. Throw Hans into a room with a burly individual who was very loyal to the sisters and was currently surrounded by an assortment of sharp, bladed tools with which to stab with. Not like Anna could EVER have a BAD idea, but this was possibly one of them.
Nonetheless, whether he was going to be stabbed or not, Hans would act properly as was expected of him. He rolled up his sleeves (thank God he had the sense to wear something more mundane for the situation) and took a spot next to the sink.
“I suppose she talked you into this without knowing I would be involved?”
Kristoff looked Hans over. Hans looked much less…fancy than he had expected. Kristoff pegged Hans as the type that would always be decked out in a three piece suit. Hans still was dressed better than Kristoff, but that wasn’t hard at all. Even with Anna’s help in picking out some new clothes Kristoff’s wardrobe was very simple. Since Kristoff couldn’t really scoff at Hans’ clothes he had to find something else. Ahhh, the sideburns, those ridiculous sideburns were definitely worthy of an internal scoff. It was petty, but Kristoff needed a moment to bask in disliking Hans before he began seriously attempting to play nice.
“I was….convinced to help too. Anna wanted me to help out the poor poor servants who so badly need some time off. She really made it sound kind of tragic. She’s..ya…very convincing.” He tried to make it sound like he wasn’t completely at Anna’s beck and call, even if he was.
“Anna said she was gonna get someone to help me, but she didn’t say who. I really didn’t think it would be you . I thought she might be sending Olaf” he chuckled. “But, I guess I should have expected this. Anna said she wanted me to meet you because apparently you two are friends now?” Kristoff raised an eyebrow quizzically.
He paused for a moment as he pondered whether he should press one of the questions that was heavily weighing on his mind. He felt like it would eat him alive if he didn’t so he decided to just go forward with it. “Why did you come back to Arendelle?”
A small pit formed in his stomach, the challenge of trying to word the frustratingly complex new found friendship between him and Anna. They had somehow becomes friends, that was for sure, though how or even why was still eluding him. He rubbed his brow, trying to push away the brewing noise in his head.
“It is… complicated, as you might imagine. The best way I can put it is that somehow Anna thought I could be trusted again.”
He didn’t clarify his own thoughts on whether that was wise or not, as quite honestly he didn’t think it was deep down, but Arendelle was almost a haven from his family, and it was much better to spend his time here where he was relatively left to his work and quiet time than be kicked around from place to place in veritable exile.
Hans shook his head and grabbed at the first pan he could, picking up a soapy rag before starting to clean down it in an attempt to clear his thoughts.
“I should have seen this coming to, I must admit. She speaks highly of you.”
So far they were both well behaved, but Hans nonetheless felt it better to keep a few feet of distance, just in case something were to happen. Kristoff looked like a thick man but Hans was quicker than he looked, which might help an escape if he had to.
But how did Anna think that Hans could be trusted? That was the puzzling thing. Anna never did seem to have the best judgment afterall. there was also the way Hans worded things that made Kristoff suspicious. He didn’t say that he could be trusted, just that Anna thought that he could be.
Kristoff grabbed a dish towel from the drawer to dry off the dishes that Hans was starting to wash
“Wait...she does?” he asked in shock. He knew that he and Anna were at the least very good friends, but it was something else for her to be speaking of him to Hans. “What had she said?” Kristoff took a step towards him.

Being a queen no doubt came with a lot of work, but Elsa never seemed to not be working. Elsa needed a break, that much was sure. Given the nature of her powers it was probably for the good of the whole kingdom if she reduced her stress even a bit. Kristoff had decided to take it upon himself to try and trick her into getting her to go somewhere, anywhere, away from her desk and her pile of papers. He felt guilty that he was about to lie to her, but he knew she’d never agree to a day off on her own free will.
He took a deep breath and knocked on her office door. “Sorry Your Highness, but there’s an emergency at the stables. You have to come with me” he said frantically. Just hopefully she’d buy that.
Today like any other day had started with Elsa eating little for breakfast and then shoving her face into her work rather forcefully. It was obviously taking its toll on her, since several of her hand maids had inquired about her health.
Still, Elsa being Elsa- had waved off their concerns with a smile and continued about her business as perusual.
One stack down and a deep breath- Elsa had been suddenly interrupted.
“Kristoff? What? What do you mean? Why can’t the stable master handle it?”
Elsa was smart, much smarter than Kristoff. She could likely see right through his lies and she’d refuse to go. He could always just physically pick her up and carry her out of the castle, but he’d rather not alarm the castle staff with here being a kicking and screaming queen.
“It’s…uh…it’s a big problem. The stable master is on a break too. It’s just…I can’t even explain it to you. You’ll have to come see for yourself.”
She looked at him with a raised brow. What ever it was, it wasn’t what he was claiming it to be. The stable master would more than likely come -off- break if the issue were this pressing, to get the queen involved after all it had to be.
More realistically Anna had some plan she had goaded Kristoff into being a part of. Elsa figured she better check it out before it became a disaster, like Anna’s ideas often do.
“Alright, alright. Lets go take care of this Problem quickly so that I may return to my duties.”
“Oh…good” he nodded. She honestly had given in quicker than he had thought she would.
“Ya, it will be fairly quick….but it’s still a big problem that needs a queen’s attention. Quick, before it gets worse” he grabbed her hand. Actually, he planned on her being away from her desk for most of the day, of course he couldn’t tell her that now though.
The struggle now would just be getting her into his sled once they reached the stables. She’d obviously see fairly quickly that there was no crisis and she’d likely try to run off.
As his large hand clasped around hers, she felt a wave of anxiety almost cripple her ability to breath. Despite all of this new found control, she was still very nervous about contact with other people.
Lucky for her, he was dragging her a long so quickly, she had little time to react.
What ever Anna was doing, had better be resolved quickly or she’d make sure to put ice in her bed while she was sleeping.
Still, despite the inconvenience, Elsa had to admit she was going insane staring at those papers all day, and this was in fact- a much needed break.
He kept dragging her quickly along to the stables. Once they arrived there he pushed the large doors open and pulled her inside. Now this was the hard part.
“Oh would you look at that, the stable hands must have come back from break and dealt with this afterall” he chuckled nervously. “Well since we’re already in here we should just go for a sleigh ride eh?” Okay....that wasn’t very convincing.
