Jess knew Sam had saved the world. But she didn’t quite know the details. He had started it too? How? That was another question she had to ask him… It seemed like she would have to see him again now. No matter how painful this was going to be. She just… had to know. He had to know what she was thinking. She had to make him see… or he had to convince her other wise. And that would probably take a lot right now…
She frowned. Leviathan? Wasn’t that… fish, or something? “And you need Sam to do your dirty work?” Jess wasn’t sure where this was coming from, talking to him like this. She had no idea what he could do to her…
“I’ll see him. Yes. But like I said, not for you. This has nothing to do with you. If you want Sam’s help find him yourself…” She adjusted the bag on her shoulder, raising her chin once more. “Sorry. We’re fully booked tonight…” Then she turned on her heel and walked away, hoping and praying he didn’t bring her back…
He could see the wheels turning. She was going to talk to Sam whether she really liked the idea of it or not. He'd planted just the right doubts, both about himself and about the demon Sam Winchester had been playing house with. He rolled his eyes. "No not my dirty work. I'm perfectly capable of doing my own dirty work. But I need the help of an expert. Sam Winchester is my expert darling." Her attitude had taken a very quick turn, but he reigned in his anger. The meeting had still gone much better than he'd expected.
"Good. Don't do it for my sake. Sometimes Sam needs help seeing the truth. I have faith that you could do him some good, Jessica Moore. You did once." He laughed. "That's alright. I wasn't really looking for a room anyway." He smirked as she walked away.

Humans were so easy to manipulate. It was no wonder Crowley’s business was booming. They’d follow you blindly over any cliff imaginable so long as you said the right words in the right order. Lemmings. That’s what they were. It almost made the demons preferable to humans. At least the demons were smart enough to know a good con when they saw it.
He could see just how easily he’d gotten Jessica Moore to listen to him. At the slight frown on her face he gave a sad smile. “If there are questions you have, ask me. I’m an open book.” It was clear she wouldn’t trust him completely, but he would get as close to completely as he could.
It was clear that demons were a hot topic for her. She didn’t seem to quite realize that from the moment Sam was six months old demons had been manipulating his life. She was part of that. She had been the ploy of a demon. Roman had done his research on the Winchesters. Castiel had made it quite simple actually all of the information in one place. He really should send that angel a fruit basket.
He gave a soft laugh. “Do it for what ever reason you think you need to. I don’t care why you’re doing it. I can understand why you wouldn’t trust me. The most important part is that you do it.”
Jess narrowed her eyes. “Why? Why is it important? I don’t want to see him hurt, but what does it matter to you?” She didn’t think he meant Sam any harm right now, but he definitely wasn’t here to help him either.
She realised how stupidly she had been led along but she couldn’t deny that he was right. Demons should not be around Sam. They had controlled his life enough. She crossed her arms as she looked at him though. “What are you?” she whispered. “Tell me. What do you really want from Sam?”
Roman had to hand it to her at least she was smart enough to ask that question. "Truth be told, Sam Winchester and I aren't exactly on friendly terms. But there are much bigger fish out there that I have to take care of. Sam just happens to be a very useful tool in doing so. If there is one person out there that can stop the world from ending it's him. And he has before. Granted. The last time he did, he was the one who put all of that in motion only to bring it to a screeching halt right before the finale. It was admirable."
He chuckled. Finally, there was the question. He could see she was getting angry now. Not necessarily angry at him though. Much of it seemed to be aimed at him, but there were other causes. "Well, I'm not a demon. Much older than they are. Therefore wiser. The old testament calls my kind Leviathan." He pauses. "What I want from Sam is simple. I'm in need of a hunter of his caliber. There are plenty of hunters out there, but Sam is special. I really do believe he can help me with a... pest problem the world seems to be having."

Jess listened carefully to his words, biting her lip. She really didn’t know if she could trust him. But… but it just made sense. She should have seen it before. Ruby was a demon. That’s what they did, they lied. They killed people…
She frowned slightly. Repeat itself? What did that mean? She knew Ruby had done bad things but this seemed more specific… had she tried this before?
Jess shook her head. She had no idea what to think. And she thought she was doing well. Getting away from all this. From him. It would be horrible. Going back, convincing him his girlfriend was using him… again. He wouldn’t trust her… he’d tell her it was jealously talking. In the nicest way possible, yes, but it would be something along those lines.
Ruby had obviously done her job well. He was blinded by her it seems, if she could do it to him twice… Jess hated that. The idea of Sam being so easily mainpulated by a demon…
They had killed her…
Jess looked up at Roman with steely eyes. “I can try… he won’t believe me. But I can try…” And then she flinched back. “I’m not doing this for you though. I still don’t trust you…”

Jess flinched back slightly as he reached out his hand but she let him place it on his shoulder. She didn’t really know what to think. If he did raise her, if he wanted her to do something, why did he leave her for so long? And why introduce himself like this?
But if he needed her, if she had to help Sam, then surely she had to trust him, just for now…
She had no idea what else to do. And no matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t forget Sam… even if he had forgotten her.
Wringing her hands and looking at her feet, she thought carefully for a few moments before looking up at him determined. “But what can I do?” she asked quietly.
He had expected her to be wary of him. It wasn't everyday you had to face the fact that the supernatural existed. Not to mention she had absolutely no idea what he was, or what he could do. He could tell she had many questions. It would be easier to answer if she would only ask her questions out loud, otherwise it would get exhausting trying to find ways to get them from her.
He could see all of the worry she carried for Sam Winchester. He had to admit it was an endearing part of her character, even if she was right to do so. Sam was one of the supernatural world's most wanted, and eventually his time would come but that wasn't the most important part right now. Now, he just needed to make Sam unattached. He knew there was likely very little that would be able to do it. But he knew the Winchester quite well. They'd spent a little bit of time together, and one of the answers was the girl standing in front of him. Sam's connection to her would be easier to deal with.
He smiled kindly at her when she asked what she could do. "What can you do? You can help us convince him that he's in trouble. We know that one of Ruby's associates is on the lookout for him. This demon looking for him is very powerful and very pissed off. Ruby has worked for her a very long time and when the time comes will give in to this demon."
His deal with Lilith actually seemed to be coming in as a handy excuse. It was just too bad the demon would be turning the Winchester boy over to him. "You need to help him see that history will repeat itself with her."
Sweet Tooth
Jess didn’t really understand what he was saying but she wondered what he meant be the last statement. The least of Sam’s worries… and the way he spoke. Ruby meant he was ‘attached to hell’. Of course he was. Once again, a demon was controlling his life.
And Jess gasped. Why hadn’t she realised it before. Ruby was playing him. Of course she was. She was a demon… how could Sam trust her?
“Is she…” Jess trailed off, swallowing tightly. This man seemed to know what he was talking about, what was going on with Sam. She knew she hardly knew him, heck, she knew he probably meant Sam harm…
But he wasn’t close to Sam every minute of the day right now. A demon was…
“Is she dangerous?” she asked suddenly. “Is she going to hurt him?”
Roman smiled at her sympathetically. Inwardly he was grinning. Oh, now he'd caused quite a bit of trouble for the younger Winchester hadn't he? He tried not to laugh. It was funny how the truth could actually be so much better at that. The demons really did know what they were doing. The truth hurts worse. Of course he'd thrown in a little white lie. Maybe he could get this girl to trust him. Especially if she thought he was the on that had brought her back.
He reached out a hand and placed it carefully on her shoulder. More contact it would help. He needed to understand what she was thinking about. He raised an eyebrow. He had to wait for her to finish her question. He could be patient. He needed to play reassuring now. He sighed when she did finally find her questions.
He didn't answer right away. "Ruby? Ruby is indeed dangerous." Not actually a lie. The demon was dangerous to most. Just maybe not Sam. Or himself for that matter, but details were unimportant. "She has. It's pretty widely believed she will again." Also still not a lie. This game just got more and more fun as it went.

Dick had expected that kind of surprise from her. It was always interesting to see the terror in a human’s eyes. It manifested differently in many of them. Her’s was nearly pure and clear on her features. She wanted to know more, but she was avoiding calling attention to the two of them. He just smiled at her and followed her.
When they stepped outside, he looked at her with a knowing smile. “You know… exactly what I’m talking about.” He said quietly from behind her as he kept within an easy distance. He could tell she was struggling to deal with this idea that he could know what she had been through.
He chuckled a little as she asked her questions. “Maybe. I can’t possibly give myself away that easily. You and Sam were awfully close weren’t you? Shame he’s running around with that other pretty blonde now. I had hoped we could break him of that habit.”
Jess turned to face him slowly, frowning. She was scared, of course she was. She had no idea how to handle this. And the last time she had met someone like him… she’d ended up dead. What was he? How did he know about her?
Still, she listened carefully to his words, her stomach dropping as he mentioned Sam, flinching slightly. She didn’t need reminding of that. That she wasn’t with Sam anymore. That she had to start a new life somewhere else because there was nobody that wanted her, that needed her anymore. She was quickly forgetting how well she was doing with it…
She tilted her head slightly. “What do you mean?” What was he trying to say? She shook her head. “I won’t let you hurt Sam.” She said quietly.
He could tell his words had struck something in that pretty head of hers. He was still waiting for the question. He wouldn't give an answer until she verbally asked. He knew there was no way she wasn't wondering who he was and why he knew so much. Of course, now he was hoping she believed he had been the being to raise her. It did raise an interesting question. Since he wasn't, who was? He sincerely hoped the other being didn't take offense to his taking the credit for now. He assumed it would be soon enough when she found out.
Roman gave a sad smile as she flinched at his words about Sam. The girl cared about that towering idiot. He wondered just how much she knew about why Sam had been in the hospital. He had studied up on his Winchesters enough to know the boy had been through more than his fair share of hardships. Having the archangel Lucifer in his head, though. That part was interesting.
"Hurt Sam? Certainly not, then I'd have half of Hell, his brother, and part of the host of heaven after me." He sighed. "I did need him unattached to Hell however. The demon he's hanging out with does raise a problem. I'm surprised his archangel friend hasn't smote her." He knew that most of what he said most likely wouldn't make much sense at all. He was talking to try and confuse her. "Of course calling him an archangel is a bit of an insult to archangels seeing as he's spent the better part of the last... several millennia downstairs." He gave a sly smile. "Believe me. I'm one of the least of Sam's worries at the moment."

Jess froze, eyes widening. She torn her hand away suddenly. She glanced over to the woman behind the counter. She was distracted with something but Jess didn’t want to draw any more attention to them. She adjusted her bag on her shoulder and looked down heading towards the door. “I don’t know what you mean…”
She headed outside walking down the road slightly. She should have expected this. She was brought back from the dead. She was part of Sam’s world now. There must have been something that brought her back, something that would recognise for what she was…
And the desire to know was strong. She didn’t turn to face him but she knew he had followed her. There was no point denying it. She could tell by that smirk on his face. She knew. “Was it you?” she whispered. “Was it you who brought me back?”
Dick had expected that kind of surprise from her. It was always interesting to see the terror in a human's eyes. It manifested differently in many of them. Her's was nearly pure and clear on her features. She wanted to know more, but she was avoiding calling attention to the two of them. He just smiled at her and followed her.

Jess was slightly surprised when the woman behind the counter gave him the cake for free. In fact, she was slightly taken aback by her entire manner. She kept staring at him, eyes wide, like he was famous or something. Was he? Did Jess just have no idea who he was? And she had just spoken to him like she would everyone else… He didn’t seem to mind. And really, she did have a good excuse… being dead means you miss out on a couple of things.
Jess blushed, tugging her hair behind her ear. She got the feeling he was indulging her naivety slightly but she couldn’t complain. Not if it meant she got some extra business. She smiled at him. “Thank you, sir. I’ll make sure we’ve got our best room ready…” She looked over at the woman behind the counter once more before holding out her hand to the man. She was smiling brightly. She’d found something she was good at again. It felt good. Especially after those first few ideas. When she had no idea which way was up. After meeting Sam again. Her face fell slightly as she tried to block the memory but it attacked her all the same. She pushed it back and smiled before letting go of his hand. “It’s good to meet you Mr Roman…”
Dick Roman could see the surprise at him seemingly being important. It was endearing to see how clueless she was. She was definitely recently raised if that was the case. Even before the Leviathan had taken the place of Dick, Mr. Roman had been a rising celebrity. Especially in the current economy. He just gave her a smile, and he had to admit that it was nice to know he could still pass for a regular person, even if the woman behind the counter treated him like some kind of A-list celebrity.
"Your best room? I'm flattered." He flashed another grin. It was interesting to see her reaction. Then he got the chance he'd been waiting for. She held out her hand. He took her hand, maybe for a while longer than he should have, but he needed the information. She was thinking about Sam Winchester again, and therefore didn't notice. He gave her another wink. "Please. Dick." He said with a grin. "It was very nice to meet you Jessica Moore. Can I ask you a question?" He said tilting his head just a bit. "What does a pretty girl like you do to get herself killed?" His smile remains pleasant enough, but there's a knowing look in his eyes.
Sweet Tooth
Jess found herself lost in thought as he ordered, her mind drifting to the time Sam had once brought her cake. It had crushed in his bag, making a mess and Jess had chuckled at his expression as he helped up the soggy paper bag…
She shook her head, dismissing the memory and smiled at him. She shouldn’t miss the opportunity for a booking, not to someone who looks important. “Jess Moore. I don’t want to keep you from your meetings but if you do need that place to stay then I work at a motel down the road.” She pulls out a card and hands it to him. “It’s close enough to down but not close enough for you to be disturb. And it’s just be refurbished too…” She gave him another bright smile, hoping her sales pitch worked…
Dick could tell something had triggered a memory. That's what he needed her to be thinking about her past. It would be easier to find what he needed to if she was thinking about it. He smiled and took the small package from the woman behind the counter, who's eyes grew wide when he said his name. When he went to pay for the cake, she waved him off. "No sir, the cake's on us." He grinned wide. "Thank you. You really don't have to. I can..." She cut him off and insisted he take the cake.
"Jessica? Pretty name. It was my aunt's name as well." He took the card from her, fingers brushing hers as he accepted the small business card from her. It wasn't long enough to get much, just some of that memory she was thinking about. Sam Winchester. Interesting. "Newly refurbished? Always do like to see when people improve upon the past." He needed to find out more. This wasn't enough. "I'll tell you what. After my meetings this afternoon, I'll swing by and check one out. If I'm impressed.... and I need a place to stay, I'll check in." He said with a wink.
Sweet Tooth
Jess bit her lip as she looked over the wares, not able to decide what to have. She heard the bell ping but didn’t turn to look until a male voice addresses her. She looks over her shoulder at him. Tall and impeccably dressed, a business man of some sort. Jess wonders what he’s doing this side of Sioux Falls but she smiles at him, ever polite. “I’m not sure myself. But something with lots of cream I think.” She chuckles slightly. “I’ve decided to treat myself today. We all deserve to indulge once in a while, don’t you think?” She gives him another polite smile.
She points to a cake that takes her fancy and the woman behind the counter wraps it up and hands it to her. And as she looks back at him, a thought strikes her. “Are you now in town, sir?” Maybe she could drum up another customer for the motel. Mrs Adams told her she was good at that…
Dick Roman smiles warmly at the blonde. "Cream. Maybe. I'll just have one of these here I think." He said pointing to a tray cake slices that looked to be Devil's food cake. He had no intention of eating the cake himself. It was actually the very last thing on his mind. "Can you box it? It's actually a gift for someone special. It's her birthday." He glances back at the pretty blonde. "It's always good to indulge on occasion, but I've indulged myself recently enough."
His smile fell a tiny bit as she asked if he was new in town. "How rude of me. So sorry." He held out his hand. "Dick Roman." He said with another warm smile. "I'm actually only passing through. Have to meet up with a couple of... business partners. We've got an awful lot to discuss." He was intrigued by this woman. He wanted to know more about her and why she was so important to be raised. "But I may be looking for a place to stay the night depending on how things go here in town today."
Sweet Tooth
Jess wiped her brow and took off the apron she was wearing. “I’m off to the store, Mrs Adams…” The old woman grunted and Jess just rolled her eyes. The sky was overcast, ever threatening to rain. Jess had made sure to grab the umbrella just in case. She had been stuck inside all day and she could do with a walk in the fresh air…
Jess had thrown herself into her new role, more than helping Mrs Adams at the motel. She not only cleaned and washed and tided; she greeted guests, took bookings, even helped manage the finances. Mrs Adams seemed to trust and Jess found she liked her company. The woman was very funny and had lots of stories to tell. Jess found she could laugh.
She was getting used to the routine, being back to normal. She hasn’t forgotten what has happened to her. She never will. But cutting herself off from the rest of them had to be done.
It’s on her way to the story that she spots the bakery. Well, smells it rather, the rich aroma drawing her in. The bread smells delicious but it’s the cakes she’s more interested in. She deserves a treat…
There had been quite a bit of news from the Leviathan stationed in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Most of them gunning to get at the Winchester's themselves, but they had their orders. He'd been informed of their movements, and now it seemed that Sam Winchester was on his way back to his hideout in California. That was fine. He had people on it. What was more interesting was for the first time in nearly six months the Winchesters had been in the same city.
He advised his people against interfering. There were demons and other things after those two. He didn't wish to deal with them quite yet. He had struck up a deal with the current ruler. He had to keep on their good side for the time now.
There were other interesting rumors. A woman long dead, now risen inexplicably. Some time travelers nearby. A super-fan of the Winchesters and a hunter in their debt for being saved.
It was time to pay a visit to Sioux Falls. Now that there was only one Winchester in town to spot him, it was more likely he could stop by unnoticed. He wanted to talk to these informants face to face. He needed to find out more about what the Winchesters had been doing here. His town car pulled up outside of the public library. A young woman was walking into the bakery just down the street. He asked the informant he was meeting. There was something about her that wasn't quite... normal. Upon hearing she was the woman who'd been raised recently. He informed them there was a change of plans, and told them he'd meet with them later. He had a meeting first.
He approached the small shop and entered. The bell overhead ringing as he entered, looking over the bakery's wares. He leaned over the cases. Then turned to the blonde woman in front of him at the counter. "It just all looks so good. What would you suggest?" He looked from her to the woman behind the counter.
Deep Dish. Pizza Too.
“Earth does plenty well for me,” Jezabeth chuckled. “Aliens are a nice change, but this is my home.” A one sided grin spread along her face. “I have a soft spot for human screams.” It was true that she loved traveling to different planets. There were so many of them, and so many eras she could visit. It could take millenia to see them all.
“Oh, yes, River’s quite the mutt.” Jezabeth shook her head, letting her hair down. “It’s technically not, not through a Time Lord mating with a human anyways. Her parents were boinking while the TARDIS was in flight, so the environment altered her DNA.” He mentioned it must be a strain to hold her and Jezabeth scoffed. “She’s still human, after all. And Time Lords are just the same, only they heal themselves better. Really, it’s easier to hold her than a human.” River bristled but stayed silent. Jezabeth was being condescending on purpose, and they both knew it.
He asked about the TARDIS and she laughed. “Was that really a question? I’m possessing the child of Time, of course I know the TARDIS.” She sneered. “I know it just as well as the Doctor does.” At this point River was attacking her walls again. She had nothing to worry about though. Jezabeth had no intention of telling Roman how it worked. It was already crowded enough in time and space with the two forms of the Doctors running around, she didn’t need a Leviathan to share with.
Roman scoffed. "Home. You sound like them now. This was my home before it was any of yours. I was willing to work a deal over it, until the damned Shadows showed up." There was bitterness and anger clear in his voice. It would be such a great slap to the Creators face if he could manage to manipulate time and space. "I want my home back and now we just have a fresh food supply. Might as well use it while it's here."
He raised an eyebrow as the demon spoke of Ms. Song. "Fascinating. Though I doubt nearly as tasty as a human. The DNA is still altered from that of a human. I've done extensive testing on human DNA, and I'm very particular." He paused a moment. "Doesn't mean it still wouldn't make a good meal of course. But it might be compromising. Especially considering the demon." It was more like he was thinking aloud rather than to the demon sitting on the bench.
"My dear I didn't ask if I asked what." He said with an eerie calm. "I'll repeat my question only once. What do you know of the TARDIS." He reached out and took hold of her wrist. "I imagine you'll want to give me what I want. Taking things by force can get... well. Messy." He gave a twisted smile. "I quite remember warning you not to piss me off."
Deep Dish. Pizza Too.
Jezabeth had to resist making another face. Now he was purposely making her uncomfortable. Fine. Let him play that game, she still had the information he wanted. She may be young, but there was still enough distance between them that she could zap away, be in another time and place and not have to worry about Richard Roman.
She sat back, ignoring the way River was urging her to get away. If even she could feel how powerful Roman was, then Jezabeth would have to be careful. Her eyebrow shot up when he said he wanted to expand his business. “Earth not enough for you?” she quipped. He wasn’t very readable, even with her senses and River’s uncanny sixth, seventh, and eighth sense to read almost exactly what was going on in other people’s head, but it was clear he was going to be vague until she presented something he wanted. With a shrug, Jezabeth downed the last slice on her third pizza and said, “He is the only full Time Lord left. River is only partly Time Lord.” He would have to ask more specific questions if he wanted anything else from her.
Dick chuckled lightly looking across the street at his building. It was quite a lovely piece of architecture. The humans may be stupid and ignorant, but they had created from very little knowledge. Their knowledge was still so limited in comparison to other species. Perhaps it was their ignorance that allowed them to keep going, like ants in one of those little ant farms some children kept.
He looked back at her as she sat back. Clearly, staying against most of her instincts. He smiled at her reaction. "Is Earth enough for you?" He asked. He had the feeling that the demon particularly liked it's ability to leave Earth thanks to the knowledge of her meatsuit. "I see. Mixed DNA. Interesting. Wouldn't have thought it possible considering the complexities of the Time Lords." He paused a moment. "Probably quite a strain on that body to hold onto a demon then. You've got the merging of three species." He looked away a moment. "And what do you know of space and time travel? Particularly, of the TARDIS and how it works."
Deep Dish. Pizza Too.
Jezabeth made an annoyed face at him when he commented on her being jumpy. Did he think she was stupid? They both knew he could easily take her down in a fight, if it came to that. She was a new demon after all, and no amount of chugging holy water on a constant basis would get her ready for a fight against a Leviathan. Especially the leader of them. And most especially when she alone and had to worry about keeping River intact. Hell, this suit was bothersome at times.
<Fuck you.>
Dearie. Be a peach not a twat and shut. Your. Mouth.
“What you call paranoia I call self preservation,” she answered, shrugging as he refused the pizza. If he didn’t want it, more for her. His loss. “Believe me, I won’t be trying to piss you off, Roman. I like living. The pizza for one up here is astronomically better.” It was getting easier now to simply talk to him. He did produce an internal growl from her when he flashed his wicked grin, but that was instincts. Nothing you could do about that.
She tilted her head as she swallowed another slice. His question was confusing. What interest did he have in Time Lords? River’s memories told her that Crowley was interested in them purely because they were something new, but she couldn’t read what Roman was playing at. “What’s your interest?” Jezabeth was testing him, something that might not bode well, but there was no way she was simply going to hand over information to him without knowing what he wanted first.
"Oh come now. I'm only stating a fact." He said seeing the annoyance on her face. He had to admit it really was amusing to watch her squirm, but then again, most everyone that knew what he was squirmed in front of him. The few that didn't tended to be among those he considered more intriguing. He watched her a moment long. It was clear her and the Timelady spoke to each other.
He nodded in concession to her statement. "And rightly so, I hardly imagine one as young as yourself would be more than a flea even to the oldest of demons. But picking off demons is not something I do in my spare time." He smiled. "Good, then we have an understanding. I'm sure you'd find Purgatory rather bleak in comparison to Hell." He smiled again at her reaction to his initial grin. "You only have to worry when you see my real teeth." He said with a quick wink.
He clicked his tongue looking at his watch. He could very well do this the easy way, rather than questioning the demon. He did have a time table to meet. "My interest? Hmm. You could say self-preservation and expansion of business." He said remaining vague enough. Roman knew how closely he needed to hold the cards on this. It had been risk enough to ask Lilith for the Winchesters in return for what little information he had.
