The Final MVP & Pitching

This week would be my last post for this blog for our Techno101 and for now we're preparing for our final pitching and to present our final MVP. My team i-Travel is making the best we can do for this last pitching.

Our website design are nearly done and the button functions, etc. but still we're continuous communicating with our customer for the successfulness of this start-up we had.

It's really nervous of what will be the outcome of this start-up we started but we realized everything we have encountered, we learned a lot of it that's why we're pushing this start-up until the end.

After all, TECHNOPRENEURSHIP will gives us a lot of things to apply in real-life for the betterment of our future goals and the next journey after we graduate.

Keep Calm and Work Hard

     This week we had a very hectic schedules for the updates of other subjects project. We had to pass a progress report of our projects on other subjects but still we managed to do every situation we encounter.

     For the updates of our start-up we continue to present our test pricing to our desired customer and to have their feedback's so we can improved our pricing strategies for the better outcome of this start-up.

     Also we continue making our MVP (Minimal Valuable Product), making this is very important to our start-up and we're trying to present our MVP to our desired customer so they can have the experience and also to give us some advice or idea to enhanced our start-up product so it could be easy for them to use it.

    After all the struggle we've experience this week we learned a lot from all the things and it gives us more encouragement to continue on what we've started even though it's hard. Hard is always there in our life but if we don't work hard, success is not always there.

Time is fast approaching

     Finals week is fast approaching and we're not done yet of our start-up product we only have three(3) weeks to finish everything for the final pitching. That's why this week we're continuing to validate more potential customer and also testing to our customers our pricing.

     For the add on of our validation we have interview Mr. Mitch Jason Balbuena, he travel for adventuring thrice a month and he said that he never avail a travel agency and also he like the concept of our start-up and his willing to be our potential customers for the start-up we are making.

     Also for our product we are still far for finishing our start-up product but we're trying to finished all the features we had for searching the destinations, payment methods, and also for the promotional or advertisement for our apparels and gears partners.

     All-in-all, for the add-on of our validation we had a good outcome and the updates of our product we're still far but we are doing all our best to finished everything so we can present a good start-up for the final pitching. May God bless us all.

Our Revenue Model

     This week we only sent our update presentation which is the revenue model of our start-up. Revenue model talks about, What value is your customer paying for? What are your revenue models strategy? What are the pricing tactics? also how does the company MAKE MONEY from each customer segment?

     First of all, in our update presentation we had made the test pricing in front to our customers. We're glad to say that we got a positive outcome for test pricing in front of our customers. They said that, they're okay for the pricing and the commissions and still willing to part of our start-up. We also made a pricing tactics, we had discounts, odd value pricing, freemium model, penetration strategy and also we present our diagram of our payment flows.

     Next, is our revenue model strategy which is the revenue source, the value to offer, how to price the value and who pays for the value. Also what are the metrics that matter for your business model? The metrics that matter for our business model are the revenue per week or month, the profit per customer per week or month and the cash in hand.

     After all we made our revenue model it didn't change our value proposition, customers/users channel, and customer relations because our customers are still willing to be our customers. Making our revenue model is very important for our start-up and all-in-all we had a good outcome. May God bless us all.

CHANNELS, CUSTOMER RELATIONS & REVENUE STREAMS

     Last week, we presented our "CHANNELS & CUSTOMER RELATIONS". So, channels talks about what kind of product is your start-up also what kind of channel you're using. In channels also talks about your economic channel, on how are you going to make money on it.

     For customer relations, it talks aboout how can we get our customer, how can we keem them and how can we grow our customers. We also presented our C.A.C. (Customer Acquisition Cost) it calculates how much we can get every each customer avail our start-up. And also our LTV (Customer Lifetime Value) presented that if your customer has a value for a lifetime or it just for one time only.

     After that, our professor gave us the comment about our updated BMC (Business Model Canvass). He also clarify why are we belong to the 2-step distribution and also our C.A.C. (Customer Acquisition Cost) we need to change that.

     This week, also we decide what are the price strategies we are going to use to out valued customers. The price list for every customers who avail our product and also the commissions for our establishment/destination partners and for the pricing of the ads.

     After all, we did it successfully for our start-up we can say that we have a progress and good result. For all the sacrifices and efforts to do all the validations with the perseverance we all can make it till the end.

THE CHANNELS: “How does our product get from our company to our customer?”

Last week we presented our customer segment and one thing that our professor said is to validate more destination for our partnership. Also we had our make-up class and we discuss about channels.

For that discussion the question is, "How do you want to get your product to the customer?". So there's two type of channels, first is the physical products o channels, salespeople, stores and etc. but with the emergence of the web, we now have web and mobile channels o virtual channels.

Also we validated more for our customer and we went first to Chali Beach Resort located at Cugman, Cagayan de Oro City and we have talk to Mr. Fred the Front Desk Supervisor. He said that they are willing to be our partners because the travel agency they have is from international and its not always here at the region. So they are looking forward to have us to have more customer so they can scale up their business.

The next resort we interview is the Coconut Bay Resort located at Tablon, Cagayan de Oro City. It's not well known for the tourist and they only have 100 pax a month. I think because they only have a small advertising board and also they're one-hundred-eighty meters (180m) away from the national high-way. It's hard to notice them if you passed by in that road.

After all, we want to validate more for our start-up but due to transportation matters and some of the desired destination are too far. So we decided to continue our validation next week and to prepare for the next presentation which is the "CHANNELS".

Experience: The Good and the Bad

This week we had a very long weekend because of holidays. It was a busy weekend to all of us because we had the City fiesta, we're also celebrating our University Intramurals and we also attended our Seminars and Field Trips which is we visit the Cepalco Data Center and the Globe Telecom Data Center.

The first site we visit is the Cepalco Data Center which is located at Xavier Heights near the SM City Uptown. In there, they let us go inside their Server/Data Room and introduce to us what kind of System Network/Topology they're using and also how secured their customers data. They also let us see how their Command Distribution Center work on distributing the commercial electricity here in Cagayan de Oro.

The next site we visit is the Globe Telecom Data Center which is located at Cugman, Cagayan de Oro. It was an amazing experience to visit their Data Center and very amazed that they work 24/7, on how they secure our data and so we can communicate to other people. It was very freezing experience going inside their Server/Switch Room, on how they maintain not to overheat all machine they're using.

But all of that having a long weekend, we managed to validate more to our target customers especially these professionals that are having a bad time to have their trips. As we validated, our target customer are having the same problem/answer as we talked to them. After all, this start-up is good start-up to start and now we are preparing for the next presentation next week.

After all the struggling it was good and amazing experience for us. We make it through this far so there're no turning back on this after all the challenges so help me god for our success.

Passion and Persistence

For this week we successfully did our first pitching in front to our professor together with another panel that will critique our starp-up. Also this week we're having a lot of things to do that has respective deadline and events to attend.

In our first pitching we presented our MVP with costumers validation although we got a positive comments, but still we need to validate more costumer for the improvement of our start-up

This week also we attended an event which is the Impact Hub Manila lecture series where we can learn more things about the entrepreneurs and their start-ups that could help us to our start-up.

Right now, we make sure we can all go through of this to the final with my team mates. I believe in my group I know we can make it if we worked together.

Adventure: Road to Success

This week was very frustrating due to the schedule of deadlines, thesis proposal, projects, reports and submission of thesis documents. After all we still to managed to validate our target customers, talk with them so we can validate if there are willing to have our start-up.

We went to Mapawa Nature Park and we interviewed  Mr. Edwin Saloma a Department Head for Maintenance and Infrastructure in Mapawa Nature Park which is located at t Malasag, Cugman, Cagayan de Oro City. As our conversation goes on he talks about Mapawa and its market sales.

After that we present our start-up we discussed if they’re willing to be one of our partners. He discussed also the percentage we can get if we can give them a customer. We also went to Malasag Eco Park, the same also they’re willing to be one of our partners they also discussed the percentage if we can also bring them a customer.

Also we interviewed like, students, parents, OFW, travellers, and also the apparels. So for now on we are preparing for our presentation for the first pitching of our start-up.

We learned about how patiently you should be when looking for target customers and also have a confidence talking to other people. All in all this is a good experience.

The Next Stage

So we started to find our target customers through surveys we conducted which we had made it last week. We keep strolling around the city of Cagayan de Oro, also the malls and streets finding our target customer to be interviewed.

Also last week we had our lecture with Sir Bronson and it focuses about value propositions and customer segments. We updated also our BMC which is important for the improvement of our start-up and also he can critique it.

We are waiting for the response of Sir Bronson and hopefully we can have a another meeting with Sir Hope and also he can help us for our next stage for this. Also Sir Bronson announced that we are having our first pitching for our start-up and it will be this coming Aug. 20, 2018.

After all, we can say that we made a good progress of our start-up. Working so hard on this with the help of people around us we all know we can make it through it to the finals.

The Desire for Good

Since this week our professor is not around but last week he told us that we need to meet with Sir Hope and we should collaborate with him also Sir Hope told us what are we going to do. He said we must a validation for our desired customer and we must have a survey about our start up.

So this week, we are planning to conduct a survey to our desired customers but making the survey is quite little hard. Fortunately, we already have a lecture about how should we make the survey. What is the proper way to do? What is the format of making this survey? and What should we really put those questionnaire? Those lecture give us a hint how shoould we do it accurately and precisely.

In the next day, we had some brainstorming with my groupmates. We shares different questions and we made up a appropriate questions to our desired customers. It really help us a lot that lecture to make this questionnaire for our survey. So after that, we put all together those appropriate questions we shared to each other and afterwards we conducted the survey.

We had those survey to out desired customers, we are not aiming for random people but to our desired customers for our start-up. After that day, we are so tired conducting those survey to our desired customers. Even if we're so exhausted that was a great day not only for success of conducting a survey but this activity really helps us.

The Beginning

This week we proposed a new start-up topic to our professor and we got his approval. Our start-up topic is about customizing and organizing your travel destination like, trekking, island hoping, falls hoping, and etc. After that we update our BMC and as we presented our start-up there are so many questions but at the end we still defended and prove the difference among the existing start-up.

As we present our new start-up we expected to get what we want the approval of our start-up and as our professor said that we need to co-work with Sir Hope Cariño a CDO BITES Member. So he can give us an advise to help us to improved our start-up.

After that day we meet Sir Hope, we had so many discussions with him and we presented our start-up and criticized our start-up he also help to update our BMC. As we go on to our conversation he presented his start-up to us and his start-up is like instagram that post or talk about travels. So we realized that both our start-up is like connected.

After all we decided to meet every saturday to help us updating our BMC. All in all we learn to be patient when you start a start-up and trust your ideas that it will work.

The Starting Up

In making a decision of what kind of start-up you are going to build is really hard as you think. When you realized that you have so many competitors and it is really a marketable start-up? or if our project will be adapting by the people or the consumers. We have so many questions if we will be pushing this start-up topic or not.

There are so many aspects that we will consider if we were going to continue our start-up topic and one of this, Is there any benefits for the bus company to our project? How can we have a revenue for this? Is this application will be useful both comuters and the owner of the bus company? However this questions were already answered it.

Nonetheless we start confusing after the lecture series we have last saturday whom the speaker is one of the ceo of the StreetBy where he  told us what the history behind the progress of their company, the struggles they encounter and watsoever.

What our team mates strucked us when one of students asked the ceo related to start up, "what is most easy to start a start up a software related or a hardware related start up?" he answered it is easy to start if it is software ... " after this scene me and my team mates where start doubted our topic coz our topic is a hardware and connected to an app where the result of the app may depend on the hardware and its kinda hard.

When you know that time is you enemy here. After the lecture series me and my team mates gather for an emergency meeting, we decided what our next step for our start up and what we are really going to topic we push through  and hopefully this one will worked.

We have learned that if you're going to start a start up you must have a knowledgeable for your business, you have a passion for this, trusting is one of the key to be successful for your start up and most of all pray is the answered for all your prayers and key for your own success.

Motivation and Successful

For now, we do have made some process to make our product more enhanced. We present our proposal and as expected we learned more that will help our venture to be successful. Also that our instructor told us that we need to clarify the problem that we were solving.

We went again to the PABAMA Corp. CDO Office, for us to have another interview and some clarification. We found out that one of their concerns is that they can't monitor their buses. So, our group gathered an ideas and discussed.

As our group discussed, we come up to an idea that in our product the bus company will able to track their buses through our mobile app. Also we decided that the PABAMA Corp. will be able to have a benefits in advertising their company, as we added some features in our mobile app where they can post their announcements, news, and updates.

All in all, if we keep in motivating ourselves we can achieve what we want and will be able to be successful.

Survey & Interview

For now on our group decided that our thesis will be our technoprenuership project, since it’s a marketable system. Our thesis will be “BUS LOCATOR WITH SEAT INDICATOR USING MOBILE APPLICATION FOR COMMUTERS”.

For this week, we also conducted a survey for the commuters and we also went to the PABAMA Corp. CDO OFFICE to interview them and also to take some survey before that we prepare first all the question for the survey and interview for the commuters also to the PABAMA Management.

So, after we are all set for the survey and interview we went to Agora Bus Terminal to conduct the survey and interview. As we goes on to our survey and interview, many of them prefer to have a mobile app that could help them to locate the bus and indicate its seating availability.

After that we went to the PABAMA Corp. CDO OFFICE so we can interview them and take some survey, as our conversation goes on we’ve known their problems and other plans in future that can help their transportation services to the commuters. We also presented our thesis topic to them and we’re so grateful to know that they are also looking up to have a system like to our thesis topic. 

This activity are very helpful to us and we’re so motivated to push through this thesis topic.

IDEALIZATION WEEK

For this week, we gathered some ideas that will help us to achieve our milestone to start our startup. So our group started brainstorming for the whole week and we've put together all of our ideas because I could say that thinking of ideas to start a startup is not easy as you imagined.

As we go on to our discussion we come up to an ideas that really helped us to achieve our startups. It really helped if you overlook on what will be the process of having a successful startup because I am amazed on how those successful startups became successful in a long-run.

So for now this is all we had for this week, we started brainstorming, gathering all the ideas, sharing of ideas, combining of ideas and discussion of ideas to have a good startup.
