no it’s not all about bucky (I could write a dissertation about why steve’s ending was bad) BUT marvel had spent ten years telling the audience that steve would NEVER willingly leave bucky. til the end of the line = till death. but also that bucky had self worth issues & never fully believed steve when he said it. that bucky always put steve & his health and his feelings first not expecting anything in return bc he loved him so much. that steve, in the 21st century after knowing what it felt like to lose his best friend, could put bucky first. he finally “fell” to save bucky — not into the ravine, but the potomac. bc he’d rather die trying than live without his best friend. he put the shield down for bucky twice because bucky was more important than captain america (the legend the mantle the figurehead). & bucky barnes fought another war, this time within himself, to come home to steve — bc after it all, and no matter how “damaged” he felt, steve was waiting for him. every piece of canon evidence told us that their relationship was the most important thing in their lives. that they had finally made it to the future TOGETHER. & after bucky finally trusted he was “worth all that” and steve would be there for at every high and low, they proved bucky right — only he meant it when he said ‘til the end of the line

When you watch the Captain America trilogy, ALL THREE of the movies revolve around Steve and Bucky's relationship. Their relationship and love for each other is not only at the heart of all three movies, but is also what the plot of all three movies is made up of. (We even have Zemo say that when he obsessively studied the Avengers for a year, one of the main conclusions he came to was that if he messed with Bucky, Steve would go batshit crazy).

But Marvel threw their relationship in the trash can and made it seem like they meant practically nothing to each other - they couldn't even properly say goodbye to each other!!

The first scene we have of Steve and Bucky is Bucky telling Steve they're "going to the future", and the last scene we have of Steve and Bucky is Steve telling Bucky he's leaving him to go to the past (where the food is worse, where polio exists, where fossils live, where—).

(And at the time that they wrote/shot the two shit Infinity Saga films, a certain somebody had come to power, and a nonverbal, hot trophy/trad wife and the 1950s picket fence house might've started to look realllll good to studios).

Yeah it's a bit annoying. And while I agree that his kids are better off without him, people saying "they'll grow up without oppression now!" are so misguided and a tad uneducated. Like. You know that women can be fascists too, right?? And they're actually often worse when it comes to child abuse and controlling them. Just because the Nazi daddy is gone now, doesn't mean the Nazi mommy won't pick up the slack. And who's to say she's not marrying another Nazi anyway?

It’s not considered political violence to dehumanize people until they’re so ostracized by society that they take their own lives. It’s not considered political violence to make policy choices to intentionally kill people by depriving them of life saving healthcare.

It’s not considered political violence to round up people and put them in concentration camps. It’s not considered political violence to fund ethnic cleansing and genocide. Very interesting what’s considered political violence and deemed unacceptable.

It definitely isn't considered political violence to annihilate the only housing that people have and push them even further into the cycle of poverty and destitution. Or to host certain people on a podcast and talk about how trans people are evil.

Seizing vulnerable women and abusing them in detention camps? Killing people by ending their life saving medical treatments? Not giving people medications in detention centers?

But sure political violence now has gone too far…

And quite frankly where was the hand wringing about political violence two Minnesota Democrats were shot? Did anybody say anything about where this was all going to lead then? Or are deaths only sad when they happen to right-wingers?

Notably, Utah Senator Mike Lee was making a mockery of it and blamed Walz. I wonder if he’ll be singing a different tune now that political violence has erupted in his own state.

And when Melissa Hortman was assassinated, not one Republican said a word. But with Kirk’s assassination, every Democrat is speaking out.

And they’re speaking out because wishing gun violence on anyone defeats the whole purpose of being against gun violence (even if he did go out in a way that he agreed with).
