UNMUTE THIS
People are always talking about Esther’s acting style being over-the-top dramatic, but I genuinely think a big part of that rhetoric is just the lack of comedy roles for women, especially young actresses, in the Chinese market.
Up-and-coming actors can easily star in shounen-style action adventure IP’s, or else a light-comedy guzhuang, but there’s so few female lead roles that showcase comedy talent (Bai Lu for example could do excellent physical comedy in her very early small time dramas, but now that she’s a leading lady you can’t tell how funny she is). Esther’s signature style really taps into situational comedy and I’m glad she’s getting a (so-far) well written vehicle for that. 🌸
I have no iea what show this is or where to find it but this genuinely made me laugh like this was genuinely so funny plus idk if at the end that's him breaking a lil bit or was like what he was supposed to do but im head cannoning it as the actor trying not to laugh and I think that makes it funnier
ok ok I found it and am enamored like I think this might be my new favorite show its called love game in eastern fantasy and its a cdrama on Netflix and is genuinely so funny and interesting and I love the costume and set work and most of the wig and hair choices (but I also have a long history of being real picky about show wigs) anyways this show is like an absolute balm on my soul and this scene happens in episode 7 and I NEED for there to be a bajillion more seasons plz and thank you
