My mind tends to run on its own all day long. Sometimes it's hard for me to keep up with it because it goes from one thing to another; thinking about new ideas, new creations, and yes, a ton of old worries. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ But, the more present I am in my day to day, in whatever task I'm doing, the more freedom + relief I experience. Journaling on my iPad is one of my favorite things to do EVER! It's like writing on paper, I can doodle, make mistakes (not worrying about them), and take my notes everywhere I go... well, as soon as the lock-down is over 🤓 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ My favorite journal prompt from the #planjournalcreate Challenge is the one that says: 'how do you want to feel today, next week, next month? Creating just for the sake of creating and getting out of my head has been pretty hard lately, even when running this #planjournalcreate challenge that is supposed to be only for fun 🤷♀️ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ For the whole past 2 weeks, at the moment I saw in my planner it was time to create some prints or lettering, I cringed a little and opted to change tasks, aka be distracted with long naps, one call after another with mom + sis, starring at the screen, and anything that would mean I didn't put on my creative hat. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ So I decided to give me a little breath. If I want I'll create, and if I don't I'll focus on something else, like filling up the shop with new planners or meditate a few minutes more. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Right now, with all the stress going on, I believe we shouldn't give ourselves any other burden. Plan your weeks + days ahead is the first prompt from the #PlanJournalCreate Challenge, and it's so important to me because the first thing I do when I end up wasting an entire day doing nothing is NOT planning. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ When I don't know WHAT I need to do WHEN I get into a never-ending loop of watching YouTube, scrolling IG, and reading every single blog post of my Feedly feed. It's the end of the month and the quarter!!! OMG, OMG, OMG, do you already know what you want to do + accomplish during the next 30 and 90 days? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I've had mixed feelings all over the last 2 weeks, about what's going on in the world, and also about what I want my goals to be during the next quarter due to the latter. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ At first, I was like 'Ok, everything is just as usual, I just need to be at home all the time,' then I started panicking and saying 'heck, life's too short not to eat pizza + chocolate cake every day,' then I was like 'Karen, you need to calm down and stay positive! Two years ago around this time, my planners business started to take off, I started my shop as a side hustle kinda hobby three years ago, and I wasn't expecting so much, I just wanted to pour out some ideas I had for planners, schedulers, and stickers. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I've always dreamt about having my own planner + stationery shop, so having printable + digital products made the most sense to me since I didn't have the resources to start a physical products business. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ After being in business for more than 12 years, I've learned quite a few things, and today I want to share with you the 3 most important for me so far, in case you're in the entrepreneurship world or want to get started. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Numero Uno: ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Even when you don't have absolutely everything you need or want to bring your dream vision to life, you can still get started. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ You don't need all the money, all the employees, all the tech. No! You need YOU, your vision, and a plan to get started the quickest way. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I did it when I first started as a freelance fashion designer. I still was in college, I wasn't even studying fashion, I graduated from industrial design. I barely had any funds, and I didn't have a curriculum. Yet, I landed such a dream project designing + sampling a footwear collection that was showed in Milan! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I did it when I wanted to branch out from freelancing to teaching. I began teaching a small group locally. Then, I launched my website and online courses with the resources I had available - only myself to do, plan, create, record, edit, and publish everything. And this resourcefulness got me traveling to Dubai to teach illustration and watercolors. Dubai people, I'm from Mexico! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ And I did it again with my Easy Planners shop. My dream vision was a physical planner + stationery shop, but I didn't have the funds or the energy to start something this big, so I STARTED SMALL. I started the quickest way possible to me at that time, I kept working, I kept growing and now my shop gives...
