This week in our Maker Spotlight series, I had the honor of featuring Zitaqwa Muhammad, the heart behind The Celebratory Collection — a soulful brand built on honoring the quiet wins, the unseen effort, and the courage it takes to keep moving forward.
Her mission is simple but powerful:

🔥⚡🚨⭐💥🎉Hi all! Update time – so, as you may already know, I have been a full-time early years teacher for the past 15 years. In the last five years specifically, I joined a high-paying but high-intensity school that has burnt me out completely. It became harder and harder over these past years to teach and also maintain a presence on social media, make art, make content, maintain a website, respond to messages and so on. I’m still a solo owner and operator of this small business – it’s all me! In the end there was only one conclusion: a break was in order.
And so, I’ve quit full-time teaching and will be working fully from home this year! I will still teach but only online and for much shorter hours, giving me the time and headspace I need to continue all the creative projects I’ve been stuck on for so long! Some cool things to look forward to: I have another collaboration with Colouring Heaven coming up, I will be working on and completing my Chibi Tarot minor arcana series, and I will be more active sharing coloring tips and tricks, hopefully hosting coloring contests with prizes just like in the old days! I am also trying to join a Motion Graphics course to get some new skills going and maybe make my YouTube channel more exciting!
Thanks so much to everyone who has supported my work over the years, and thanks to anyone who may be a newer follower! You all make it possible for a girl like me to have her dreams of working from home finally come true! It is a very weird feeling knowing all my teacher friends have started school again, and seeing Tiktok Teachers showing off their new classroom setups and all, but I know I am on the right path. Wish me luck!
We've mentored for MICA RCCE's UP/Start almost every year since we've won, but never has a team invited us in so much that it feels like we were on the ground with them. The whole process was so nostalgic (especially pitching for an indie game!) and watching them win last night felt like we did again, too! We're so proud of you, UNFATED Studios! 🤧🤗
Because of the closeness, we also had the honor of getting to know the all teams well, too. It was a tough night but you all are winners! 🏆 This is just the beginning! Keep going! 🏃♀️🌠

Être maman de deux enfants (12 ans et 7 ans) est une aventure inestimable qui façonne chacune de mes journées. Ma responsabilité en tant qu'aidante familiale auprès de mes parents et de mon conjoint est un rôle que j'ai accepté dans la douleur mais que j'assume désormais avec tout mon cœur. Être présente pour mes proches dans leurs moments de besoin est d'une logique implacable. Je ne me voyais pas leur tourner le dos face à l'adversité. Cela m'a enseigné l'empathie, la résilience et l'importance de la solidarité au sein de la famille. Et également une de mes raisons de m'être aventurée sur le chemin de l'entreprenariat. Je souhaite donner plus de visibilité aux personnes de situation de handicaps, aux dépendants, et surtout aux aidants familiaux. Que oui, derrière le drame, nous sommes forts et savons rebondir.

La soif d'apprendre et de grandir m'a poussée à la création de boutiques en ligne. Je souhaite qu'ils deviennent le refuge des créations de mon fils aîné, que je suis en train d'initier à la vie d'entrepreneur, étant lui passionné par tout ce qui touche au graphisme (son rêve plus tard est de devenir graphiste ou créateur de jeux vidéos). Je souhaite lui offrir un safe place où son art et sa créativité seront accueillis positivement.
Ma vie est une symphonie en constante évolution, où la mélodie de chaque rôle que j'endosse s'entremêle harmonieusement. Mon voyage a été marqué par des hauts et des bas, mais chaque défi a renforcé ma détermination à poursuivre mes passions et à offrir le meilleur de moi-même à ceux qui m'entourent.

To create these Wearable Sculptures we were referred to put attention to the organic lines found in nature. My personal inspiration during the first stage of the process was looking at the leaves of the plants in my backyard. I noticed how they all have veins inside, similar to the ones humans have, but they are green and smaller. Then I went out and looked around. There is a big tree in front of the house, as I walked around it I couldn't help but to notice its big roots, which almost stopped me from getting too close since they were difficult to walk over. That night a big stormy rain fell until the morning. As I looked through the window before bedtime, I noticed that the thunders in the sky had similar lines to those I observed on the tree and in the leaves of the plants earlier that evening. I went to bed thinking what material would be the most suitable for the sculpture I was ready to make. I knew I wanted to make it black probably because that is a color rarely seen in nature and I thought it would be a great juxtaposition to the organic form I was to create. The process, a bit hard at times getting scratch all over by the wire structure that will hold it all, and a bit slow at times while putting layers and layers of paper and a homemade glue like substance to then finally cover it on black plastic trash bags to create the specific texture I wanted to achieve. I let the piece rest for a few days while it all dried up. I think the Wearable Sculpture really took life once it was put on with the movement and views from different angles. I have achieved a series of photos presented here.
