That was something she could easily do and pay no attention to. A small smile is flashed at him before she turns to look around at the selection. Deciding that it would be easier to take her time and look through the selection carefully, she leans closer to one of displays.

Nothing was jumping out to her yet, but she had hopes something would make up for the legs. Surely her dragonflies would like it, so that was at least the way to no waste the offer, but it did freak Ava out.

Her thoughts are interrupted by his question, as the Vengess rights herself to look back at him. “A native…? Oh, no.”

The phrasing wasn’t lost on Ava either, but she’s going to gloss over it for the moment. “I’m just passing though on my way to uh… Wherever I end up.”

A purple brow arches at the response. Wherever she ended up? Sounds like the girl was just heading wherever the road took her. His tail swished back and forth as he thought about the answer more.

“I take it you’re all alone?” The question came out more abruptly than he would’ve liked it too. Regardless it had been asked and now he awaited some sort of answer. He remembered those days of wandering and being by himself, not that he minded them. They’re what shaped him into being the cat that he was today.

Was it the best life? Perhaps not. But it was the type of lifestyle that made him happy. He would take any chance he could to feel that semblance of emotion.

Ava nods, despite not having any intention to purchase any more, or perhaps anything at all if prices were that high for everything. She didn’t have much money, and being chastised for wasting it on candy wasn’t a fun idea either. The chocolate however does catch her attention, and the Vengess rises on her toes to try and get a good look at it.

“I’ll keep it in mind… I, uhm, I don’t have much.” If the first thing she had been presented hadn’t been bug legs, she might have taken that offer a bit more seriously too. “I, uh… I’ll look around?”

“Well then. Buy what you can afford.” Katz spoke in his usual calm manner as he rested his paws against the counter. Today had been an awfully slow day for customers. You’d think that would be the norm considering how small the population was in Nowhere but his candy store managed to often rack in quite a good deal of money. No doubt it was thanks to his mastery in the field of candy crafting.

“Do take your time. We don’t close until five.” Left to his own thoughts the cat pondered about the child. Nowhere was home to many oddities and freaks, quite a few of them he knew personally, so it made him wonder where she was from. One could say curiosity was killing the cat. Hah.

“I do hope you don’t mind me asking but are you a native of Nowhere? I can’t say I recognize your kind, my dear.”

“Greetings to you as well.” Though his expression doesn’t show it he does appreciate the comment. As such he gives a slight nod before resting his paws behind his back. “Please, call me Katz.”

When she had entered the candy store, Ava had expected there to be a few less… Bug-based confections. Maybe her dragonflies would like it, but that wasn’t something she’d eat willingly. All the same, she does reach out to take it. “Thanks, I have some… Friends who might like it.” It would at least be a fun challenge to get them big enough to eat it. “…What other things would you recommend…?”

“Splendid. Just know each leg costs ten dollars if you plan on buying a few. Cockroaches get mighty big around these parts.” Not to mention sentient. All the more reason to turn them into delicious pieces of candy. A paw tapped against his chin as he thought. This person was clearly a little child of some sort. What did little children like?

“We have chocolate in all shapes and sizes. A good seller is the rainbow bite chocolate bar.” He’s not a fan of it himself (much preferring vanilla) as he presents said bar to Ava. It’s wrapping is in red and purple, not unlike Katz own fur color.

Would you like to try a free sample?” A gloved hand held up the slightly dripping strawberry coated roach leg as his attention fixated on the creature that entered his store.
