I finally went to see Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and it has RUINED ME.  Just when I thought I was done with fanart, I found myself shipping Reylo SO HARD that I just. couldn’t. resist.  And don’t even talk to me about fanfics - I’m reading them all the damn time!!

So yeah, here’s a mock-up of something I’m playing with right now…

*hyperventilates* I got carried away. I have a headcanon that no matter how unfazed Kylo Ren seems, his ears give him away.

so i want to thank everyone who participated in my STAR WARS STUDY WHICH CAN BE FOUND HERE again because without you, i would not have had a large enough sample to answer my research question. because the sample was positively skewed towards the younger generations, i did have to focus mostly on the generational differences between Z and Y, but even then there’s a lot to take away from the information we’ve got here. 

as you can see in the captions, the OVERALL favorites were the OT for trilogies and TFA for films. but when you look at the generational divisions, younger fans are more likely than older fans to choose the PT (21.7% of Generation Z and 15.4% of Generation Y compared to 0% in Generation X and the Baby Boomers). similarly, fans falling in the 20 and under age group were much more likely to choose TFA as their favorite than older fans. however, in total percentages, ESB was very close to TFA and based off the data, with a larger sample of Generation X or Baby Boomers ESB may have even beaten out TFA as the overall favorite. 

SO i concluded from this data that there is a minor generational difference between star wars fans, with the newer films being more popular with the younger generations. some of the reasons noted in the tags/messages i received were because people grew up with the prequels, they appreciated the effects more, or (my personal favorite) “obi-wan’s beard.” you’d be surprised at how often that one came up. 

you can take from this what you will. i choose to look at it as evidence that the fanbase is changing and growing, and not necessarily in a bad way. preferring the prequels does not make one less of a star wars fan. liking TFA the best does not make one less of a star wars fan. every single person who participated in this study genuinely enjoys star wars, whether they were 13 or 66. that one fandom can bring so many people together is honestly, in my opinion, ridiculously cool.

This was a very interesting question haha! I never really thought much of it but the more I thought about it, the more I had to get it down on paper, so I’m answering you with an illustration instead! So my head canon: I quite like the idea of Rey being his Padawan in the end and through their intensive training, mutual understanding begins to form and eventually feelings arise. But being the well-guarded and ‘dark’ character he is, openly kissing Rey was something he wasn’t quite prepared to do yet, even if there was no one around in miles. Secret jedi kisses yes? Yes.
