2004 Frank castle caregiver headcanons.
1.much similar to 2017,but also incredibly different,it takes this man no less than 19 minutes to notice you’re a regressor,and what age range you regress to.(he’s terrifyingly smart,very intimidating ngl.)he’s more experienced with people who regress to somewhere around 6 or 7,but he can take care of any regressor.
2.routine?formed the second he brought you into his life.just like you he will also be agitated if people mess it up or life decides to throw a brick at the damn routine.a very pragmatic man,in all honesty.
3.Literally NEVER yells,(unlike 2017,granted he just doesn’t yell at you,or anybody unless he’s truly furious,example:Howard saint in the 2004 movie near the end,the Russian as well.)and he doesn’t seem to talk much either,like…at all.not a bad thing however!he’s very much a steady presence in your life and one of those ‘call and I’ll come running’ types,most people would assume you feel like he doesn’t care since he never talks much,but you know they don’t see what you see,he doesn’t say it but frank does sure show it through his actions,and if we were to read into what those actions mean,he’s a deeply devoted man to the people he cares about.
4.not physically cuddly,prefers to not be touched but it’s just cause touch sometimes…hurts.he can’t really describe it,it’s just not comfortable due to the fact he hasn’t had it in so long,he needs a physical barrier between you both of you want touch unless it’s something like his hands or arm,so he wears a lot of long sleeves and layers,it makes it more comfortable,and he’d prefer that over denying you of normal human contact that helps you feel safe.(it also kinda annoys the hell out of him that he’s uncomfortable with touch in the first place,he can walk through hell itself but he can’t handle a hug?how does that make any sense?)
5.frank likes doing more problem solving activities with you,keeps you engaged and your mind stimulated,and keeps his mind busy from all the awful memories he has,so things like jigsaw puzzles,card games,chess,tic tac toe,things like that.(also Tetris,I really think this man would like Tetris.)
6.really good at organizing things,and will help you organize your little gear if you want him to,he also doesn’t mind if you don’t want to use any of your gear in front of him,he understands for some people it’s a more private thing due to feeling so vulnerable,so he would never push.
7.you have two sippycups and two pacifiers,one sippycup and paci are in your room,while the other paci and sippycup are in his on his nightstand,but you got a lot of blankets.(don’t look at him like that,its not his fault you keep stealing his!okay…okay you don’t actually do that but like..he won’t admit he just likes swaddling you in his arms or making you a little nest to sleep in.)
8.you can borrow his clothes,just ask beforehand.if he’s out for the night don’t worry,he has outfits for you planned in case he isn’t home so you can just take one and not have to worry about asking him if he’s gonna wear it or if you can.
9.strict rules,but fair,and less strict than 2017 considering his universe is less dark!it’s not as horrifying as 2017’s is,so theres not too much worrying while in the city,he’s also a lot more experienced than 2017 is and can take out a whole mafia or group of people without so much as even getting near them.(mental manipulation can go pretty far,it’s why he’s the most dangerous one,genuinely good at making people turn on each other by messing with their schedules and framing others,that and the fact he’s super good with a bow.)
10.stressed,stressed,stressed.he worries about you more than he lets on,once frank cares about you like your one of his own,theres no turning back.congrats,you now have a father.(who is shockingly good at comforting you despite most people describing him as heartless or cold.)
11.secretly calls you baby bat when you aren’t around because when you’re sleepy you make noises similar to one,see also:porcupine,kid,kiddo,and on a VERY rare occasion when you’re genuinely fussy and stressed out to the point you’re crying and wailing?Sweetheart and baby.
12.if it comes down to either letting you steal some of his food or you not eating because you were too nervous to order something at the diner in the first place,he’s giving you his plate,no he doesn’t get agitated,he’s used to it,Maria used to do it too sometimes as did Lisa and frank jr.(and before anyone says they didn’t exist in the 2004 movie,in the sequel short film dirty laundry it was retconned so yes,they did exist,it’s who you hear call frank when he wakes up in his van.)besides,not like he can’t just order something to go and eat in the car on short notice,he’s done it before plenty of times.
13.HIGHLY PROTECTIVE,this man is incredibly protective of you and not a single person in this rotten city dare try to hurt you,if someone so much as even threatens you they’re a goner,he doesn’t play games when it comes to you being in the crossfire,he won’t lose his kid,not again.
14.makes you sleep in his room when he’s anxious,he needs you in his arms,he needs to feel you breathing,needs to know you’re okay and safe,he gets nightmares too,y’know?…
15.sometimes,when you wake up crying,he checks you over,he can never hear someone call him dad or daddy like that when they’re crying without getting that sinking feeling in his stomach,so he checks you over for injuries,even though logically he knows you won’t have any,he checks your temperature,make sure you aren’t sick,on those nights you spend it all cradled in his arms,his back turned to the door of the bedroom,if someone were to ever attempt barging in and hurting you,they’d hit him first,and unfortunately for them,he doesn’t go down easy.
16.doesn’t care about mess,will let you play in the mud or rain,pick up bugs to examine or check them out,it’s part of life,and if anything he’s glad you’re getting some sunlight,maybe it’ll make putting you down for a nap easier.(it won’t.)atleast for his sake.(he doesn’t actually mind,he likes spending time with you and hearing you babble.)
17.will encourage you to babble and reassure you you’re safe to do so around him,he may not speak,but he’ll give you a gentle nudge with his shoulder or ruffle your hair when you stutter due to nerves,almost his way of going ‘it’s fine,continue.’
18.will take you to the park so you can actually play without being judged by other people,so somewhere around nighttime,maybe about two hours before bedtime for you.(9 pm is your bedtime and if your a baby regressor it’s 7 pm.)
19.books,books,books!BOOKS.this man LOVES taking you to the library and reading books on animals with you,he seems to have a fondness for canines while you have a fondness for anything covered in fur.
20.can teach you a lot of survival skills if you want him to,especially stuff used for camping.
21.generally,he’s a very sweet man to the people he loves,he’s a broken man but he does his best when it comes to you,and trust me when I tell you that he would never ever leave your side,not in a million years.
