This man rescued you from hell and gave your life meaning and you shared a very important secret together for years and years and when you finally decided to spread your wings and leave the nest he replaces you near instantaneously and you feel so betrayed and hurt by this but you grow to love your replacement and forgive the man who wronged you and then he dies and you have to fill in for him or else the city you gave your life for will wither and die and you're wearing his skin and you can't look at yourself in the mirror anymore because all you see is his face

I'm so sorry Dick Grayson but the period of time where Bruce was dead is literally peak Dick Grayson era. Dad is dead. One brother threw himself off a cliff to avoid going to therapy. The other one is having a genuine mental breakdown in europe and blowing up warehouses. There's a body double of his dead dad running around threatening to destroy the carefully constructed house of lies. He has to look after a murderous ten year old with a sword. People keep asking him about how to run a multibillion dollar company. He's trying his best even though this is literally the thing he's been most afraid of since he was ten years old. He's not good enough and everyone can tell. On top of all that he's getting sensory issues from having to wear a cape.

Man having every single bad day a person can possibly have happen to him simultaneously.

i read this post on tumblr the other day that talked about how dick's time at haly's as part of the flying graysons made him particularly receptive to bruce's teaching methods to the point where bruce thought 'wow parenting is easy!' and then immediately got the next kid killed ://

and honestly? yea

dick's training as a flying grayson really is an overlooked part of his backstory. he already was doing death defying stunts and back breaking training! that was normal for him! and that probably 1) gave him a thing for perfectionism even before bruce, 2) primed him for bruce's specific brand of bat training and other neuroses and 3) made him think that yea, ofc, none of this is a big deal.
