New anxiety management breakthrough achieved. For the sake of explaining, I'm giving my fiance the fake name of David.

I catastrophise A LOT, like a lot a lot, and often I do that by having infinite arguments with people in my head.

One of the subjects of this maladaptive coping mechanism is my fiance. The him in my head does or says something horrible that real him would literally never say or do. I get so into it sometimes that I end up getting mad at real him even though this was just a what if scenario cooked up by my anxiety riddled brain.

So here's the solution. The other day I realised I was doing it and in a moment of pure self awareness I go "well, ok Wadavid!" In the Wario/Waluigi voice, very exaggerated.

The argument in my head just melted away instantly.

I call this the evil twin technique.

In my hubris I am convinced I will be able to knit the jumper of my dreams within the year. I shall be ready to be humbled.
