Evolution is an inescapable force in our world. Not only are the fauna and flora around us constantly evolving, we as human beings are changing too, and the world with us. It is inevitable and occasionally terrifying, and the idea of change has different connotations for different people. A few months ago, Circa Verne contacted some very talented folks to ask them to draw, paint, sculpt, photograph, or digitally create a piece of work which encompassed the idea of change to them, particularly in the world of 2017. ✨A  YEAR IN FILM✨

I had made a decision. 2016 would be the year I became a serious Film Amateur.

I began this endeavour in January, penning the name of every film which graced my eyes into my diary with the goal of self-development and a journey of personal growth as the end-goal. I didn’t manage to jot down every film I watched due to laziness and a generally nonchalant attitude, but I think that I recorded a large majority. There are 80 movies recorded in my diary. That’s about 1 film every 4 days, in theory (but in practice I’d sometimes watch 3-5 films in one night and then not watch another film for a week.)

What is embarrassingly obvious is that I do not watch films for their artistic merits or a 5-star review. The list is, in fact, a record of the actors who have pulled at my ever shifting heart strings this 2016.
