Brass Quintet rehearsal today! I didn’t get to bed early enough so I was a little slow getting started, but I had a pretty good day. I’m finally starting to get a feel for the mid-low register of the F tuba and the intonation down there. Bb1-F#1 feel really squirrely in comparison to the same register on the C with all the 5th valve fingerings. I’m getting better on trusting my intonation down there too.
About Me
My name is Emily, and I’m in my senior year of a music performance degree in tuba. I’m playing in a variety of school and outside ensembles right now, and while I’m shooting for an orchestra gig eventually, I’m really interested in modern wind ensemble music and brass quintet. I do compose and arrange a little bit, but it’s not my main focus right now. I also really enjoy working on tuba solo literature whenever I can get it. I post sort of part journal part tuba/music blog.
