Isat Cooking Headcanons!
Everyone knows that Bonnie is the Chef Cooker of all time. But how does everyone else fare in (or outside?) the kitchen?
Mirabelle! Mirabelle can cook, but she works better with a written recipe with clear instructions. Unfortunately, Vauguardian cooks tend to measure with the heart and the few cookbooks that have been published are often vague on the details. People are encouraged to change a recipe to fit their needs/tastes. Doubly-Unfortunately, she didn't exactly have the time to grab a recipe book when fleeing the King. She's doing her best though!
Isabeau! A bit better at the technical side of cooking than Mirabelle, and has an easier time making meals for everyone but… and it pains me to say this… he's a city boy in vaguely medieval fantasy France, has the spice tolerance of a newborn lamb, and is a literal body builder. His meals are nutritional, functional and simple - flavourful they are not. Think white rice, boiled chicken and broccoli with a pinch of salt - the tastiest thing he knows how to make is a ham and cheese sandwich. Can barbecue though! IDK how.
Odile! Can she cook? Irrelevant, because she won't. It's a stressful, laborious process and none of the flavours she enjoys in Ka Bue are easily available in Vauguarde without being horrendously overpriced. And why should she waste her time with it when she has a gaggle of oversized children more than willing to do it for her? Is more likely to pay for restaurants or stock up cooking materials than cook for other people - does make a mean cup of tea though. And she's not above buying expensive food items for the party as a roundabout apology. Very, VERY occasionally will make an intricate Ka Buan breakfast or desert for the others if she's in a particularly good mood or if her party members are in a particularly bad one.
Siffrin! Is actually a very able cook, especially on a budget/travelling. Can make a pretty filling and tasty meal out of pretty much anything: great at scavenging, hunting small game and fishing. (I mean, they've been on their own since they were a late teen of COURSE they can take care of themselves.) Before Bonnie showed up, they'd usually disappear whilst Mira or Isa cooked and suddenly reappear just before food was served, ominously holding a side dish. Very resourceful - BUT. They should NOT be allowed free reign in a fully stocked kitchen. Not because they can't cook - they can - but because Mx. Siffrin Mix-all-of-the-potions-together-to-make-a-SUPER-potion-and-almost-blow-off-their-eyebrows No-Last-Name would take one look at all the ingredients, go crazy with the possibilities, and get to work crafting 'everymeat soup'.
Only Isabeau is lovesick brave enough to try the everymeat soup. He will immediately regret trying the everymeat soup.
