AKA: An complete analysis on the relationship between Seam and Jevil, from chapter one and on-wards.

----
First Question: What is their relationship (as defined by the GAME)?
Thanks to chapter 3 (and Seam's own words from chapter 1), we get new dialogue that provides a good description for how their relationship was like:
The term "companion" is used frequently when describing their relationship. Despite it's meaning being associated with friendship, when asking Seam if they were friends, they say "perhaps, perhaps not". So whatever these two had is more so in the grey area.
The closest terminology I can assume would be "queer-platonic", most accurately explained via the lgbtqia.wik (however that is my interpretation of this. I encourage you to create your own conclusions.)
Seam also utilizes the term "only" and King uses "closest", thus we can infer that to Jevil- Seam was the only one who was incredibly near-and-dear to him, so much so that the KING noticed.
To add, Seam also mentions that they both part of the kings court, as a jester and a magician, likely meeting as co-workers.
For speculations sake, you can say that because Seam is a traveler, Jevil probably introduced him to the idea of joining- especially when noting Seam's saying of, "Don't have anything better to do." In reference to later notation, you can say that since Seam isn't actually from Card Castle world- its likely Jevil introduced them to the court- and was reason they left it.

Second Question: Do Jevil and Seam hate each-other after the events of his imprisonment?
To answer this, we'll look at our first interaction with Jevil, which goes as followed (minus the interaction with Ralsei):
Despite both Seam and King acknowledging that it was Seam who was responsible for locking Jevil away- he does not mention Seam once, but instead attributes his "punishment" to that of the Kings order. Jevil is able to acknowledge that it wasn't Seam who wanted to do it- rather it was the four Kings. If Jevil was angry at Seam, the line would go "the boring cat", or something similar.
Notice the usage of "boring" Kings. Jevil plays games, and enjoys having fun to the point his entire battle is just trying to tire him out by making him have way-too-much fun. For him to call someone boring, the most insulting thing Jevil can say.
Jevil also says they "craved to imprison" him. Noting the fact that Seam is a magician and not a guard nor solider (aka: someone you'd expect to apprehend and jail others). It likely they were so desperate (hence "craved"), they turned to Jevil's closest companion, who knows him better than anyone else: Seam, instead of their own militia. Jevil acknowledges this.
Furthermore, he may be implying that he's smarter than them to, considering the "but I'm fast, fast, clever, clever." Jevil changes the histories narrative to make the Kings seem unreasonable via his denial of guilt, "I am innocent, innocent. I just wanted to play a game, game." Most people don't assume a game to be dangerous, and to imprison someone over a trivial thing would be ludicrous. (This also alludes to Jevil not considering the HP-GAME to be something worth imprisoning someone about.)
Overall, this entire speech is a mockery of the Kings, and the event that transpired. Which unironically, is exactly what a jester does.
This is all juxtaposed to the neutral "old shopkeeper" he describes Seam as. Meaning that, whatever bad blood, anger or resentment Jevil could have had from that experience, it's all directed at the Kings.
-----
Third Question: What happened after Jevil was imprisoned?
Continuing on this, the purpose of locking up someone, breaking a key and hiding the pieces all around the world- is one of the main ways someone would try to prevent anyone on the outside from finding a way to free a prisoner. (Other than that, its usually swallowing or melting the key).
However, a key note to mention is that two of these pieces are acknowledged by Seam. The only key that isn't alluded to is the boxed key, located near the beginning of the game. It's locked by a puzzle, only solvable by knowing the order of the rooms in the castle
Knowing that a magician and jester definitely aren't in charge nor oversee the "puzzle" aspects of the kingdom- its likely whoever was in-charge of the puzzles at that time, hid that specific piece. Since the puzzle requires you to venture to the castle first, it implies you'd have to face the kings, before you even think to free that clown.
No. I will not say Rouxls Kaard made the puzzle. If you talk to the blue Jigsaw guy, you'll get the dialogue "When the KING got power, he fired everyone and replaced all the puzzle makers with HIM... Rouxls Kaard." This happened before they were fired.
Considering it only took about 1 box of dialogue before Seam outright hands you both a key piece, gives a hint to find the next one, then mentions "someone to fix it" which gives us a clue to ask the Malius the Smith-
(Also, when looking inside Seam's plush from fangamer, we see a broken key with only TWO pieces. This is likely because Seam didn't have access to or knowledge on the final piece.)
Image credit goes to Hibiscus Stich and her video.
This means the Kings were very correct on not trusting the last piece to Seam.
(Also, Seam held onto one of the pieces the entire time. This could be a "they'd have to get through me first", but considering how quickly Seam gave us the piece, I'd wager it was kept due to sentimental value instead of guarding.)
Now, you can ask "why wouldn't Seam free Jevil?", and I would argue that Jevil attempted to go on a crazed killing spree (under the guise of playing a game) after babbling some maniacal speech. A reasonable person, would not free that man. I can also argue, that after Seam had listened to Jevil's maniacal speech- and actually thought about it instead of ignoring and dismissing his words- Seam became nihilistic and no longer cared to do anything as it "wouldn't matter".
----
Fourth Question: How does Seam feel about Jevil?
To answer this, I will explain why I keep screen-shooting Seam's sprite instead of purely just the dialogue.
Seam is one of the most expressive shopkeeper sprites. If Toby Fox did not think Seam's expressions would matter, Seam would have limited sprites, similar to that of the SCC (Sweet, Capn' Cakes), who only have talking sprites. If we ignore it, we miss key details that could otherwise be overlooked.
One of these details comes in the form of Chapter 3 King's dialogue, where he states " The magician, Seam, whose smile has gone empty since that day." When observing Seam's neutral sprite- we can see their "empty smile" the King describes.
note: this image does not have ALL of the Seam smile dialogues from chapter 1.
To summarize the images: Seam has two sprites. The one with teeth, a turned up eye and the the holes on the button turning into a upwards crescent, is the "full smile". The one without that is Seam's "empty smile". Every single time that Jevil is on Seam's mind, that true smile of theirs comes out.
The fun part, is that they bare sharp teeth similar to jevil's toothy smile. In both of their sprites, Jevil and Seam only have 3 sharp teeth. Also, as a plush, usually anything scary like sharp teeth wouldn't be shown on them (as it would scare kids), so to have their full smile bare teeth like this, really just shows how much Jevil brought out the most of Seam- even beyond their "comforting old man" persona.
P.S. I'm not saying that their comforting persona is fake- I'm saying that in the complexities of ones character- Jevil got to see the MOST of it, the good, the bad- and vise versa with Seam.
Furthermore, Seam is a nihilist. Nihilism is defined by the belief that nothing in this world truly matters, rejecting certain aspects of existence (the aspects are dependent on the flavor of nihilism).
For Seam to say, with a full, toothy smile "Would I have found a little more purpose in my life...?", means that in Seam's mind, if Jevil was still around, regardless of their views that this world is a meaningless, purposeless existence- Jevil would've given Seam a reason to keep going despite that.
Seam saying "A little more purpose" is like finding an oasis in a desert.
---
If that's unsatisfactory:
One can argue that the only sprite that doesn't change in regards to Jevil, is when they (very excitedly) tell you "*Anyhow if you succeed, come back here and tell me! Good luck!! *If you can call THIS luck... No, it's more like a curse...!" as well as the scowl they make when talking about freeing Jevil, "...I see. After all the trouble I went through to lock him up, you want to release him?".
To that I say: the first dialogue was in conjunction to giving you a hint to find the first key to FREE JEVIL- and the second was a scowl, likely because you just decided- for no reason at all, to free a crazy murder clown that Seam likely struggled against (note the King's use of the term "tricked away" instead of "defeated") for how ever many hours (when looking at both King and Seam's sprites- they both seem have "slash damage" on their face, so it was quite the BATTLE-) It's reasonable to be upset that your hard work was being tossed aside by some random blue teenager and their merry band of purple dinosaur and green glasses.
Also if your going to point out that Seam calls this whole thing a "curse", a good reminder that a curse is a negative ailment that lingers and doesn't go away. If Jevil is a curse, then that implies that no matter how hard Seam tries to get away, move on, ignore, or just stop thinking about him, what he said and his presence in their life- JEVIL KEEPS COMING BACK.
[ Fun fact: Seam loves of battles (as later depicted in the chapter 2-4 where Seam enjoys asking about Kris & gang retelling such adventures to them). Considering "Lantern", their theme is like 90% Rude Buster motifs, it makes sense they're passionate for that sort of thing. ]
"But its negative! a curse is bad!" you may say. Of course it is negative. Even I wouldn't want to think about the guy- who I hold 2 key pieces to open the door to, is very lonely and bored without you, and who will try to KILL people the second you open that door. So no matter how much you may want to see him again, you can't, because your reasonable. (Until your not).
It must've been easy for everyone else to forget about the Jester, but for Seam? It's their "curse".
Remember, the king can get another clown (aka: Tenna apparently), Card Castle Darkners can forget and move on. You can play through the whole game and never know he existed. In this scenario, the only one who would seriously grieve for, think about and remember Jevil would be Seam.
...
In an ironic twist, the hermit and the jailed, are both trapped in their own isolation. Seam never leaving the Seap, and Jevil imprisoned in a cell. Both suffering by the words and knowledge of something far greater, and darker than them.
Unlike Spamton- who actively entertained this Stranger's knowledge, all it took for Jevil to go mad was likely just a face-to-face conversation. Comparing the two, unlike Spamton not telling Tenna the whole story- Jevil told Seam everything.
"He started saying bizarre things that didn't completely make sense, but didn't completely not make sense either". After he tried to get people to listen, he went crazy. The only one who truly did listen was Seam. Then, Seam helplessly watches Jevil fall into a pit of madness, and then is forced to imprison him by order of the kings.
Remember, Seam used to leave the Seap and work alongside Jevil in a COURT of all things. Seam's smile shined brightly enough that one could notice it dim. Jevil had jokes, and silly little dances, instead cryptic dialogue and murderous tendencies. They hung out, and played games together, worked side-by side with each other, liked each other SO MUCH that they're deemed the "closest companions".
In the end, its still tragic.
Leaving the only one to blame, being a Stranger.
-----
Final Question: Jevil's asleep! Are they doomed to never meet?
Only Toby knows if we ever get to see these two interact. However, I also enjoy the gamble of theory, thus here is my wager:
We already know that both Jevil and Seam enjoyed playing games with each other, often assumed to be gambling (though likely not limited to just that) and in chapter 3, Jevil wakes up during Tenna fight to place the bet, "30 pts on no damage". Then in the next chapter (dialogue w/o shadow crystals) Seam gambles with the addisons for fun.

If Seam ever leaves the position of Shopkeeper to go and play a game with us, its likely Jevil would wake up for that. We know Jevil loves Seam's games, long before any of the "seeing the entire world as a game" and imprisonment happened. He'd wake up in a heartbeat to play with them.
The Tenna fight had also given us a clue as to how Jevil's "sleeping-beauty-slumber" shtick works. My current guesses are:
1. Jevil is slowly waking up and will probably be fully awake by some chapter. 2. has been awake and just waiting for the chance to do something fun. 3. Is fully asleep and simply wakes up for fun events only.
We also know that Seam is slowly gaining hope with every collected shadow crystals. There is a possibility Seam may actually leave the shop (as they are the ONLY shopkeeper who we have never see a full sprite of), which would give Jevil an opportunity to interact. Another possibility is that we play a game with Seam, which Jevil may awaken for.
Since we don't know what Seam is going to make next chapter and how much their involvement in the plot of this game will be after its said creation- the future is uncertain.
But, it is as Gerson says: It's up to you to pick up the pen and write your own story. So no matter what happens, no matter what this post says, I will always encourage you to pick your pen and write your own ideas in regards to these two and their story.

My final regards,
Thank you for reading this incredibly long post. Your perseverance is a treasure, and I hope I have been able to enlighten you, or offer an interesting perspective in some way.
As no one is perfect, I always encourage anyone who wants to offer their own insight into these two in the comments and reblogs. I'd be happy to read and talk about it!
P.S. I included a small tangent about Seam not being from Card Castle, I will be working on a post explaining my analysis on Seam, and will link it to this very paragraph once it is done.
Though I am unsure how many people will actually get this far (as many of my long posts have barely any reach) I doubt there will be many reblogs. BUT! If there is, please check the original post to see if I have updated this section and added a link :]
