Spring Cleaning

It has actually been years since I posted anything here so it’s time to give this another try. I am going to try to clean up my blog(s), maybe link them together or something. I might just end up doing nothing though, I don’t know.

No, I just don’t post much. I read your stuff all the time though, you’re pretty cool. I just use tumblr for infinitely scrolling down my dashboard while I’m bored.

i never understood why people whine sop much about a game not being in the highest of all graphics. i’ve never played ANYTHING in 1080p because my pc is shitty, yet i enjoy the game the same. Guys (or gals), its not about how realistic it LOOKS its about how good it PLAYS.

It’s not an issue of realism. Here is Dark Souls at 720p

Lower resolutions can obscure detail, whether the game is aiming for realism with its visuals or not. Also, unless you own a CRT, it’s always ideal for a game to be running at the native resolution of your display. And for most people that happens to be 1080p.

As for “its not about how realistic it LOOKS its about how good it PLAYS”, framerate closely ties into how well a game plays. 60fps is literally twice as responsive as 30fps.

TIME LAPSE MAP OF EVERY NUCLEAR EXPLOSION EVER ON EARTH Japanese artist Isao Hashimoto has created a beautiful, undeniably scary time-lapse map of the 2053 nuclear explosions which have taken place between 1945 and 1998, beginning with the Manhattan Project’s “Trinity” test near Los Alamos and concluding with Pakistan’s nuclear tests in May of 1998. This leaves out North Korea’s two alleged nuclear tests in this past decade (the legitimacy of both of which is not 100% clear).

Each nation gets a blip and a flashing dot on the map whenever they detonate a nuclear weapon, with a running tally kept on the top and bottom bars of the screen. Hashimoto, who began the project in 2003, says that he created it with the goal of showing”the fear and folly of nuclear weapons.” It starts really slow — if you want to see real action, skip ahead to 1962 or so — but the buildup becomes overwhelming.
