What if mermaid Ren and aquatic veterinarian Masato

-Ren is a merman who values his freedom but was stripped of it from a young age
-He was probably taken away from his mother
-He ends up being quite antisocial with humans after being kidnapped
-The facility ends up doing research on him
-They take some samples and what not
-Often hurting Ren in the process
-This leads Ren to almost generalise humans as these cruel creatures who only want to hurt him
-Renās early caretakers didnāt take the best care of him, only sticking to the bare minimum or feeding him and checking up on him every few days
-Never making eye contact with him
-Nothing more then what they had to do
-To them it was simply their job, to keep this strange creature alive
-Masato is an aquatic veterinarian who ends up being Renās caretaker due to the old one quitting
-Ren ignores Masato at first, thinking that Masato is just another employee thatāll get replaced in a few days
-Masato ends up going about his day
-He is amazed at Renās tail
-Finding it akin to the most beautiful silk
-Seeing how it flows in the water
-Oh How his sister wouldāve loved to have seen it
-Masato ends up feeling pity for the merman
-Realising How little Ren was actually given
-Masato tries decorating Renās pen
-He ends up decorating it, the only time when Ren isnāt there
-When Ren has to have samples taken from him
-He decorates the tank with a large array of different coral
-Even adding a few beach balls in there just in case Ren got bored of just circling around
-Ren comes back to his pool, completely redecorated
-He is a bit stunned, a little shy to play with anything
-He starts finding everything that Masato put in really fun
-He only finds out that it was Masato when one of the workers was talking about how the newbie was spoiling the test subject too much
-He soon connected the dots
-Masato tries making conversation at first
-Just spending his lunch break, sitting besides Renās tank
-He probably is writing a letter to his sister while talking to Ren
-Ren doesnāt answer but is somewhat scared yet intrigued that this human would try speaking to him
-All that would go through his head is if Masato was just a decoy for another experiment
-What if they try to sample his vocal chord next?
-Ren sees Masato repeating this process again and again
-Ren still just doesnāt respond though
-He Just swims around while listening to Masato talk about whatever happened during his day
-Maybe Masato talk about how his sister tried making him breakfast today or how his co-workers were really nice to him
-Ren soon finds Masatoās voice very soothing
-Something about Masatoās voice just reminds him of ocean waves, being free
-Ren starts to anticipate when he can hear the voice again
-Masato finds out that Ren can talk when he hears Ren humming a little song that Masato sung a few days ago
-He was surprised that Ren could talk
-Masato joins in with the humming
-After a while, it became the norm for Masato to lean against Renās glass pen
-Ren looking through to see whatever Masato was doing
-They would hum the same song over and over again
-Only something the two of them know
-Ren soon started to become more playful with Masato
-Often splashing him with water when he walks in
-Sometimes even trying to kiss Masato
-Masato always moves away when Ren tries to kiss him however
-Who knows what would happen if a human kissed a merman
-Masato just didnāt want to risk that
-Slowly but surely, Ren is starting to change
-The researchers canāt figure out why there have been fluctuations of Renās mood as of recent
-They really just couldnāt figure it out
-One of Masatoās coworkers gets jealous that Masato was given such a large promotion for such a short amount of time
-He ends up pushing Masato in the pull when he is fixing some of the equipment
-The original plan if Masato didnāt die, was to blame the merman, he never talked so how could he explain his point of view. It was a full proof plan
-When Ren sees Masato drowning, panic crashes over him
-He couldnāt go back to that world
-Swimming Over to Masato, Ren plants a faint kiss on his lips
-They say a kiss of a mermaid is able to grant you, abilities of their kind for a period of time
