I’m so in love with this man. At the end of the day I get to come home from work to this. He’s playing video games with his friends online while we practice ~social distancing~ and I’m just playing uno on my phone. He’s playing but he’s also massaging my leg because it hurts. We like to spend time together but also do our own thing. We get to be our own people and do the things we like to unwind from our day but also like to make sure the other one is good. He asked if my leg was hurting and when I said yes he picked up my leg and started massaging it. We talk about our day, anything that we have on our minds, and just about our future and our aspirations. No one is perfect, but he truly makes me a happier, more selfless person because of how loving and how selfless he is with me. He’s so patient, open minded and caring. I love you J.

See, the thing about that viewpoint is that it is coming from those who never had to sit home with nothing to do for an extended time. The people that say it are often those who have worked 40+ hours a week for decades on end where the only time they really got to stop and relax was on vacation. They haven’t ever stayed off work long enough to get past the point of relaxation, where they would’ve found out that doing nothing for weeks on end is actually ridiculously boring. Boredom leads to people creating jobs for themselves, whether it’s cleaning or creating art or inventing shit or whatever. Human evolution has made us into beings who need to stay active in some way, so we will seek out or create activity when none is to be found.
