Uni/Sherlock AU [Closed]

The couple took to the London streets on foot taking the time in the brisk air to engage in conversation. The topics was light hearted and mostly had to do with living together and habits that they thought would be of interest sharing, even warranting a good laugh as they joked about possibly mixing up chemicals with tea. They crossed into the restaurant almost unknowingly. It wasn’t a particularly extravagant restaurant, a hole in the wall even, but the woman behind the counter smiled at the sight of Sherlock and hugged him thanking him for some job that neither disclosed the details of. She sat them at a table giving them both a glass of wine ensuring that she would take care of them.  Sherlock smiled bringing the deep colored liquid to his lips, “Kamon is really sweet, she owes me one,” He smirked before taking in the wine, “this happens more than I want to admit, but I try to stay away from people with money,” He wiped his lip with his thumb, “They have too much to hide.”

Uni/Sherlock AU [Closed]

It didn’t take him long to get his responses needed to take the next steps in obtaining a photo of the accused and the best friend of his client. He knew he wouldn’t have to work hard from now. He didn’t even have to leave the flat. Now that he had a definitized course of action it gave his time to think. Why did he feel so guilty. He lit a cigarette in hopes to numb the feelings he had so carefully tried to conceal. He saw no reason to be formally dressed as he was and changed into comfortable clothes consisting of a pair of red boxer briefs and a large white shirt that was only slightly larger than his usual shirts. He took his violin firmly wedging it between his chin and shoulder and placed the bow on the strings not moving. He allowed the bow to have a life of it’s own as it sung of tales of conflicted emotion of lust and affection. The outlet made his mind clear. The violin swung from its position as sherlock took his cigarette and flicked an ash off the ember. He then took a permanent marker and roughly sketched bars and a treble clef. Why ?

John practically ran to uni, well, he took the shuttle in the middle, and made it just in time to his exam. The one and a half hours were over very quickly, too quickly for him to finish all tasks, but he was relatively confident the ones he had answered were correct.

His way back was much more relaxed, which was why he stopped at the Tesco’s two blocks from their flat. He came back with some basic things like milk, bread and some apples he was determined to eat. When he came home, he first put the bag of groceries on the kitchen table and went into the living room in search of Sherlock.

He was probably in his room anyway, so John called up the stairs: “Sherlock, have you cleaned the fridge yet?”

Sherlock didn’t notice the call or that john had infact came back. He took a break in the middle of his practice to disinfect the kitchen leaving it unextrodinaily plain now. He had a small fridge in this room, that his mother insistead on him having when he went off to university to begin with, that now held any questionable items. His progression in his music brought him joy. He wrote a few notes and tossed his instrument on his bed.

John sighed and checked himself. To his delight Sherlock had kept his promise; the whole kitchen was clean actually. The faint body-part smell was being overshadowed by the smell of disinfectant. He started putting the groceries into their places with a smile; that had actually cheered him up. After he was done in the kitchen he went through the living room, now remembering the clients. Wondering how far Sherlock had come in the meantime, he went up the stairs to Sherlock’s bedroom and knocked.

Sherlock had no intention of taking a break from his composition he ignored the knock altogether taking the bow to the strings again and playing the entirety of his new heartfelt piece. The numbing properties of this instrument was something he could explain only scientifically. Layman’s terms he could only describe it as bliss. He rocked with the vibrations and pace almost in a waltz that went to the sultry noise.

He didn’t know this song, but then again, he didn’t know much about music anyway. With a sigh he closed his eyes and sat down on the nearest wall, enjoying the sounds coming from the other room. Committing every note to memory he put his violin gingerly onto the bed content with the masterpiece he so fluidly composed. He smiled thinking about how the thought of the short blonde male made use easier to withhold. He took a refreshing breath to which his body ached with hunger he pat his stomach before stepping out of his room, “Enjoy that, John,” He spoke immediately turning to the other knowing full well he had heard the entirety of his work.

When the music came to a halt and it sounded like it was done, John opened his eyes again and stretched, before moving to get up. He jumped a little when Sherlock talked to him, not having expected that. Blushing, he looked at the other man, who was hopefully (but who was he fooling) not aware of the fact that he’d been listening to him for quite a while. “ ‘twas very good.” He answered quickly, glad he’d managed that without a stammer. Jesus, he needed to pull himself together; he was a grown bloody man after all.

He only gave proper eye contact for a moment as he emerged from the room and continued to the kitchen, “I am thinking of going to grab a bite, Thai okay ?” He inquired opening the fridge and taking out the milk smelling the content and gagging and the unexpected smell of the spoiled dairy, “ We should probably get groceries as well,” at this point he was rambling and making list aloud assuming that john had followed him into the kitchen.

John was standing in the doorframe and nodded. “Yeah, Thai sounds great.” He was really anything but a picky eater. Watching Sherlock, he said. “I already got them and put them into the cupboard over there.” John said motioning towards it, as he’d already stopped at Tesco’s on his way back. While Sherlock had been already talking to their clients, he’d put the groceries away. “I didn’t know where you usually put them, so that’s why. There’s some UTH milk as well.” He commented at Sherlock’s reaction to the spoiled milk.

John’s attentiveness to housekeeping brought a slightly warm feeling to sherlock. He was a shut in and often his diet consisted of leftovers and energy drinks and it was comforting to know that someone cared enough to refill the essentials. John was definitely a positive presence to the flat, “ Well then, dinner is on me, “ He deemed it to be a fair trade in a quid pro quo and moved from the fridge with his keys he grabbed from his work cite, “ Let’s go then,” he took a moment to look at his flatmate. His features were soft and curved complementing his own angular once. Burned into his mind was the faces he made underneath him contorted with pleasure. He put his finger into his hair tossing his curls in habit, then continued to the door before John could notice the abnormal behavior.

He place the oversized mug on the side table to leaned in, “ Obviously you know that I work in the bookstore during the week,” He began, “ and I assume you have realized I do a few other odds and ends to keep finances in check,” he made direct eye contact as he spoke to show is genuine explanations, “ It ranges from doing essays and assignments for the desperate, helping those with small cases in which they need a personal detective to look into their personal lives, and a few other things that are hardly legal, but it puts me in good standing with local gangs. Paying favors for freedoms,” He paused to see a reaction of his flat mate and giving him a chance to question if need be.

John let that sink in for a while. “So you’re a private detective of sorts, give people favours like last night, are involved in illegal activities… Why are you telling me all of this in the first place?” It didn’t make much sense to him. From what Sherlock described discretion would’ve been the wiser option considering he did ‘hardly legal’ things.

“You needed to know. Honestly is something you value and I don’t want to start living together on the basis of lie.” He crossed his arms narrowing his eyes, “ You also wanted to know..” Sherlock checked his phone again, “Besides John, you are bright, you would notice my works if you haven’t already.” He took to his feet putting his phone is his pocket, “Would you like to come along on a fairly simple case?” He suggested thinking to easy John into his lifestyle.

John thought about declining, but his curiosity got the better of him in the end, so he got up and put the mug in the sink. It surely sounded exciting and he hadn’t really much to do the next few hours. “Yeah, why not actually. When are you leaving?” He asked. John was still in a tee and his pyjama bottoms and didn’t plan to leave the house like that.

“As soon as you are dressed is fine, but we are waiting for the clients here. I have strict rules on procedures. I am to be emailed the the situations and if I deem them worth my time they are to come here to gather information on them and what is to be done.” He pulled up a chair from the dinning room and placed it in the living room facing the couch, “a girl is coming in, assumingly with a friend, about a cheating boyfriend.For cases like this it won’t take long but they coast the same as very..” he paused with a smile thinking about and interesting case that he had worked on in which a girl lived over seas and was accused of the murder of her roommates. That was one of the happiest days when she was acquitted, “interesting.”

John nodded at that. Sherlock sounded like someone who did that professionally, which made him wonder how long he’d been working on his ‘side business’. Curious as to how that was going to go he went into the bathroom to take a shower. When he looked at himself in the mirror he just shook his head. Yesterday at this time you had no idea you’d be moving in with the tall bloke from the bookshop. What the hell are you doing? Even though it was absurd, he couldn’t really regret his decision. After a few minutes he emerged from the bathroom dressed and ready for the day and walked back into the living room.

John walked into the small meeting that began soon after he left to shower. Sherlock refused to start without watson by him to witness the whole process. As he had said the distressed brought her friend. Sherlock was uninterested and only lighting up slightly as the other walked into the room, “Please take a seat,” He looked to the client nodding to indicate her start. She moved in and out of tears explaining that her boyfriend head of the football team at the university and had seemed to disappear at unusual times. He was more secretive and withdrawn and needed to get to the bottom of it. That she was sick of crying about any of this. The friend seemed to step away from the conversation and shift uncomfortably at the mention of cheating. She made any excuse not to make eye contact. Her manicure couldn’t possibly be that interesting. For sherlock, this was a simple open and shut case but there needed to be evidence, “What kind of evidence do you think would be significant?” “Screenshots, pictures, anything!” Enthusiastically he jumped to her feet, “ Do you think you can help me, Holmes?” “Of course,” He glared at the best friend, “You will have the prof in a week just wire me the money before the exchange,” The girls left and he stared back at his phone before dropping onto the sofa.

The glares and stares from Sherlock didn’t go unnoticed, so when the girls had left, John looked to the sofa and commented. “So you think it’s the best friend?” He looked back at the empty seats that had been recently vacated by their clients. “I mean I have to admit, her reaction was strange, but that can hardly be enough to be sure, don’t you think?”

“Of course, if you could tell then there is no other explanation,” he paced the the length livingroom, “Can I borrow your phone,” went up to shorted and placed his hand out palm facing up in expectation of the small device. His mind race numerous options and half of which had to be done through a phone that wasn’t linked to sherlock.

John gave him a look at the request, but nodded eventually and handed the other man his phone, without questioning it. While Sherlock was pacing, John decided to sit down in his chair and watch the other man do whatever he was doing.
