âDonât be embarrassing.â
34, 49!
Does your character feel self-righteous? Revengeful? Contemptuous?
Despite his propensity to sound nasty, Alexander doesnât typically say what he does out of malice (unless, of course, you act as though you deserve to be spoken to that way.) Generally, itâs just how he interacts with people. He never really learned how to speak to others outside of his family circle, which has proven a bit detrimental in the long run. If someone shows genuine distress because of what he said, though, he can at least apologize, though.
What about voice? Pitch? Strength? Tempo and rhythm of speech? Pronunciation? Accent?
If anything, I would say that Alex speaks like a âproper gentleman,â or what the American standard of that would be. Vaguely British and soft, but firm and slightly cold. He takes care to enunciate so thereâs no misunderstanding what heâs said. That might be why a lot of people can say he sounds very clipped when heâs angry, but itâs just the way he talks, heh.
Character solidifying!
1. How does your character think of their father? What do they hate and love about him? What influence - literal or imagined - did the father have? 2. Their mother? How do they think of her? What do they hate? Love? What influence - literal or imagined - did the mother have? 3. Brothers, sisters? Who do they like? Why? What do they despise about their siblings? 4. What type of discipline was your character subjected to at home? Strict? Lenient? 5. Were they overprotected as a child? Sheltered? 6. Did they feel rejection or affection as a child? 7. What was the economic status of their family? 8. How does your character feel about religion? 9. What about political beliefs? 10. Is your character street-smart, book-smart, intelligent, intellectual, slow-witted? 11. How do they see themselves: as smart, as intelligent, uneducated? 12. How does their education and intelligence â or lack thereof - reflect in their speech pattern, vocabulary, and pronunciations? 13. Did they like school? Teachers? Schoolmates? 14. Were they involved at school? Sports? Clubs? Debate? Were they unconnected? 15. Did they graduate? High-School? College? Do they have a PHD? A GED? 16. What does your character do for a living? How do they see their profession? What do they like about it? Dislike? 17. Did they travel? Where? Why? When? 18. What did they find abroad, and what did they remember? 19. What were your characterâs deepest disillusions? In life? What are they now? 20. What were the most deeply impressive political or social, national or international, events that they experienced? 21. What are your characterâs manners like? What is their type of hero? Whom do they hate? 22. Who are their friends? Lovers? âTypeâ or âidealâ partner? 23. What do they want from a partner? What do they think and feel of sex? 24. What social groups and activities does your character attend? What role do they like to play? What role do they actually play, usually? 25. What are their hobbies and interests? 26. What does your characterâs home look like? Personal taste? Clothing? Hair? Appearance? 27. How do they relate to their appearance? Suspicious? Hostile? Scared? Enthusiastic? 39. What do they like to ridicule? What do they find stupid? 40. How is their sense of humor? Do they have one? 41. Is your character aware of who they are? @indecypherablemind
Silas is prone to listlessness and aimless wandering; he can admit that much, especially when he finds so little reason to do, well, anything. This place is better than home, but only by a small margin for the moment. As far as he can tell without deliberately searching for anything, he has no ties here or anywhere. So here he is, walking in the midday fog of district gamma. At least itâs somewhat nostalgic.
Itâs a little hard to make out things, but at least the visibility is slightly better now than it is at night, and much less dangerous. Lips lift up into a very small smile. If Dionysus actually remembers right, this is where they both ran into some serious trouble just trying to get home right? He slipped up, and Cy ended up noticing his healing, good times. Ok, not really but at least he had company then.
Dio walks a little farther still lost in his thoughts. Maybe I should start over; find a little out of the way place and make a clinic. Funds might be tight but-
A familiar voice breaks through the fog, immediately grabbing his attention. It canât be. He wasnât here the last time. Itâs just the fog and area playing tricks right? Though isnât that at night? Silas has already changed directions, however, walking swiftly towards where he swore heâd heard him, heard-
âAlex.â The name is whispered under his breath as a form finally takes shape in the cloudy blanket covering the streets. Short stature, white hair, familiar brown eyes that probably widen as Silas finally gets closer, grin growing and starting to beam.
âCyyyy!â he greets, extremely more enthusiastic than he was a minute ago, âImagine finding you here! Youâre not back staying at the hovel right?â Itâs stated as casually as ever, but thereâs an edge of excitement and relief to his tone evident enough to anyone who actually knows him.
âHonestly, Herman, do you have to make a production of everything...â
It was a wonder to him how often the little pig managed to wander away from him. Alex had long considered buying some sort of harness for him, but with things as they were, he had no choice but to let him wander as he pleased when the pair of them went outside. A lack of leash laws was at least one thing this city had going for it.
Walking in the mist had its own set of problems, difficulty keeping up with a curious pet besides. It brought on memories Alex wasnât sure he wanted to recall. It had been so many years ago, even by the odd standards of time this city held, but even then...
The start of his musings were cut short by a sudden squeal and the clatter of tiny hooves. An exasperated sigh seemed to come through his entire body as Alex turned to follow after the piglet yet again, but he found himself unable to give chase.
There was a ghost standing in front of him.
âHah... This city would be so cruel as to show me an image like this... Another test, I suppose.â
âWell, Iâm not playing along. I donât have time for games. Whatever crypt you wandered from youâre free to return to.â
STRANGER THINGS SENTENCE MEME
episode 001-004.
âsomethingâs coming. something hungry for blood.â
âwait a minute. did you hear that?â
âweâre in deep shit!â
âdonât be a pussy!â
âjust twenty more minutes!â
âyeah, sheâs turning into a real jerk.â
âthe cause of the power outage is still unknown.â
âhe came home last night, right?â
âthatâs disgusting.â
âdo it, freak!â
âitâs like you have superpowers or something.â
âwe just made out a couple times.â
âiâll climb through your window. she wonât even know iâm there.â
âmornings are for coffee and contemplation.â
âheâs not like that. he wouldnât do that.â
âthe entire east wing will be evacuated within the hour.â
âshe canât have gone far.â
âyou think you can steal from me, boy?!â
âthis isnât some lord of the rings book.â
âdo i make myself clear?â
âis that why you ran away?â
âyou gotta answer a few of my questions first.â
âall i know is that sheâs scared to death.â
âyou think we got a problem here?â
âwe should be helping look for him.â
âi always had a distaste for science.â
âi always figured there was enough going on down here, i never needed to look elsewhere.â
âthis is crazy.â
âsmile looks good on you.â
âweâre not going back.â
âi know i havenât been there for you.â
âi donât even barely know whatâs going on with you.â
âi shouldâve been there for him.â
âthis was not your fault.â
âdo you guys hear that?â
âis that blood?â
âyouâre freaking her out!â
âthis is mental.â
âsheâs probably a psycho.â
âand tomorrow night, we go back out.â
âhey, um⊠i never asked your name.â
âi canât eat.â
âyou canât get like this, okay?â
âweâve been waiting six hours.â
âweâve been searching all night.â
âhe was scared.â
âif he sees the cops, heâll think heâs in trouble. heâll hide.â
âheâs good at hiding.â
âcops are good at finding.â
âyouâre in trouble, arenât you?â
âthey want to hurt you? the bad people?â
âjust stay here, okay? stay here.â
âwhat do you say? are you in or out?â
âoh god⊠thatâs depressing.â
âi just wanted to say, you know, um⊠iâm sorry about everything. everyoneâs thinking about you.â
âheâs a smart kid.â
âall that matters is, after school, the freak will be back in the loony bin, and we can focus on what really matters.â
âpretty.â
âjust trust me, okay?â
âiâm so sick of your excuses.â
âheâs not coming, is he?â
âyou shouldnât like things because people tell you youâre supposed to.â
âi donât know where my boy is. heâs gone.â
âdid you see him? last night? on the road?â
âiâm not mad at you.â
âis everything okay?â
âpromise.â
âi need you alive for the next few days, at least.â
âmissing kid, suicide⊠you must feel like a big city cop again, huh?â
âare you out of your mind?!â
âi think she knows what happened to him.â
âdo you know where he is?!â
âstop it! youâre scaring her!â
âthat boy was never very good at taking care of himself.â
âwhy am i just hearing about this?â
âitâd be super weird if iâm not thereâŠâ
âitâs just a loud noise. itâs okay.â
âthey wonât tell anyone about you. they promise.â
âwe wouldnât have upset you if we knew you had superpowers.â
âwhat is âfriendâ?â
âyou promised that youâd go.â
âweâre gonna have a great time.â
âhe just wants to get into your pantsâŠâ
âmake sure i donât get drunk and do anything stupid.â
âyou ever feel cursed?â
âhey, come back inside.â
âyou are a clichĂ©, you do realise that?â
âyeah, sheâs smart, you douche!â
âyouâre bleeding.â
âjust go ahead and go home, okay?â
âjesus, you scared me!â
âi didnât think itâd be a big deal.â
âyou can talk to me.â
ânothing happened.â
âyou need to stop this, okay?â
âpeople are looking for him and theyâre going to find him.â
âcan you just try and get some sleep? can you do that for me?â
âyou seriously think that the weirdo knows where he is?â
âif there is something out there, iâm gonna shoot it in the eye - and blind it.â
âuse your powers, okay?â
âif you get hungry, eat his snacks, okay?â
âi know the kidâs not in there, but i gotta check off this box.â
âno one breaks in here. certainly not some kid.â
âwhoâs in charge here?â
âscience doesnât make any damn sense to me.â
âi seriously have no idea who youâre talking about.â
âheâs in danger.â
âheâs dead.â
âiâm a dick.â
âhe must really have something to hide.â
âyeah, this isnât creepy at all.â
âthis is called stalking.â
âthatâs the thing about perverts. itâs hard-wired into them. you know, they just canât help themselves.â
âmaybe she freaked out when you went all psycho on the psycho.â
âwhy did they hurt you?â
âfriends tell the truth.â
âi understand.â
âtell me what to do.â
âi think something happened. something terrible.â
âthis is CIA-sanctioned research.â
âiâm not saying that thereâs some grand conspiracy. iâm just saying maybe something happened.â
âmaybe he was in the wrong place at the wrong time and he saw something that he shouldnât have.â
âhiding.â
âdonât waste your time with her.â
âwe are not calling the cops!â
âplease tell me itâs not the kid.â
âyou were supposed to help us find him alive.â
âwhy did you lie to us?â
âwhat is wrong with you?â
âwhoever you found is not my boy.â
he was hiding from that thing.â
âyouâve gotta stop thisâŠâ
âyouâre talking about grief.â
âi swear to you, i know what i saw. and iâm not crazy.â
âiâm not saying that youâre crazy.â
âi need you to believe me.â
âi want you to try and get some sleep, if you can.â
âcan you please stop that?â
âi thought we were friends, you know? but friends tell each other the truth.â
âyou hurt me.â
âare you sure youâre gonna be alright here by yourself?â
âscrew his funeral!â
âyeah, okay, but why didnât you just talk to me? thatâs crazy.â
âi donât know⊠i was scared.â
âmy parents are gonna murder me!â
âthis is not an okay time for you to shut down.â
âmaybe heâs haunting us.â
âheâs out there somewhere. all we have to do is find him.â
âyou look pretty good.â
âwe just talked.â
âthe troopers are on duty and you should be safe because we think this is just an isolated incident.â
âremember, if anyone sees us, look sad.â
âdo you think you can open it?â
âabort.â
âsheâs missing and something terrible happened to her. i know it! and no one is listening to me!â
âjust leave me alone!â
âpull me out! pull me out!â
âwhat? who is interested in this? this is so stupid.â
âmouth-breather.â
âi think thatâs a real messed up thing to do.â
âgrief shows itself in funny ways.â
âi shouldnât have come here today.â
âsheâs smart. sheâs real smart.â
so why are you lying to me, man?â
âwhatâs your problem, bud?â
âstick your nose someplace else.â
âthanks for ruining the game, dick.â
âyouâre gonna get us both killed!â
âsheâll find him.â
âi need you to find him.â
âhurt him?â
âi i guess iâd rather observe people than, you knowâŠâ
âjesus, the hell happened?â
For some unknown reason, the incredible urge to groan hits like a tidal wave.
Send me ââïžâ for a random, dumb, pointless fact about my muse.

< What, being fed up of humans makes me biased? I would never. >
< Listen. There have been things that happen here that can shift how even they act. People get their âpowersâ back, and maybe they have the ability to -- ugh -- âmind controlâ. I donât think some âidiot with a laptopâ is going to be much of a concern. Any robot weak enough to get hacked would have it coming, anyway. >
âI would wonder if youâve taken leave of your logic, but I admit there are things in this city that make absolutely no sense and mind control is the least of them. But since youâre so terribly opinionated and highly selective given what youâve said thus far, tell me what sort of androids youâre envisioning. Iâm rather curious.â
apersurewhynot:
< ... hm... >
< ... at any given moment, this city needs more robots. >
âA purely unbiased sentiment, Iâm sure. But Iâm not certain adding automatons to this cesspool will help matters much, even if they do have some form of sentience. Any idiot with a laptop might find a way to catch hold of them and then where are we.â

@indecypherablemind
âGood afternoon, care to direct a lady to the nearest bath house?â
âI canât help but wonder if I shouldnât perhaps introduce you to the concept of gravity first.â
Confront my muse.
Whether itâs about something they do or have done, something they said, or just something your muse wants to talk about- confront them. Aggressively if necessary.
atlantis: the lost empire sentence starters.
itâs just a myth, isnât it?Â
that is where youâd be wrong.Â
impossible, you say?
iâll take your questions now.Â
donât let it happen again!Â
well, this is it. i am finally getting out of the dungeon.Â
they canât do this to me!Â
i swear, he gets crazier every year.Â
if i ever hear that word again, iâll step in front of a bus!
i have new evidence thatâÂ
we depend on you.Â
you have a lot of potential. donât throw it all away chasing fairytales.Â
i can prove it exists!Â
how did you get in here?Â
i came down the chimney. ho, ho, ho.Â
iâm acting on behalf of my employer who has a most intriguing proposition for you.Â
are we clear?Â
relax. he doesnât bite⊠often.Â
join me in a little yoga?Â
he was crazy as a fruit bat, he was.Â
he knew how much i liked my privacy.
i keep a low profile.Â
he said if anything were to happen to him, i should give it to you when you were ready.Â
i wasnât born yesterday, son.Â
yeah, looks like gibberish to me.Â
itâs not gibberish to me.
i will make them believe.Â
this is exactly what i wanted to hear.Â
i am a man who keeps his word.Â
iâm going to the afterlife with a clear conscience.Â
if i could bring back just one shred of proof⊠thatâd be enough for me.
donât like to leave loose ends.Â
iâm your man â you will not regret this!Â
boy i am so excited, i canât even hold it in!Â
what in the cockadoodle is cilantro?Â
i got your four basic food groups â beans, bacon, whiskey, and lard!Â
alright, cowboy. pack it up and move it out.Â
if youâre looking for the pony rides, theyâre back there.Â
you dropped your dynamite.Â
what else have you, uh, got in there?Â
when you settle a bet, you settle a bet.Â
he always believed you couldnât put a price on the pursuit of knowledge.Â
this should be enriching for all of us.
you ask too many questions.Â
do not be such a crybaby.Â
now tell me your story, my little friend.
what have i told you about playing nice with the other kids?
i used to take lunch money from guys like this.
hard to believe heâs still single.
do you want to do my job? be my guest.
weâre getting killed out here!
we have a crisis on our hands.Â
weâve been up this particular creek before⊠and weâve always come through, paddle or no paddle.Â
from here on in, everyone pulls double duty.
looks like all our chances for survival rest with you.Â
weâre all gonna die.Â
put out that cigarette.
you didnât just drink that, did you?
donât move. donât breathe. donât do anything, except pray maybe.
youâre so skinny, if you turned sideways and stuck out your tongue, youâd look like a zipper.Â
weâve been pretty tough on the kid. what do you say we cut him some slack?Â
donât you ever close that book?
relax. we donât get paid overtime.
sometimes i get a little carried away.
i guess iâm still a little rusty at this.
and now iâm telling you, you donât wanna know.
iâm gonna kill him.
go back to bed.
alright, whoâs not dead?
now donât everybody jump up at once.
you really came through.they can smell fear just by looking at you.
about time someone hit him.
we come in peace.
someoneâs having a good time.Â
heâs like a kid at christmas.
this changes everything.Â
this changes nothing.
your journey has been in vain.
a thousand years ago, you would have slain them on sight.
we were once a great people. now we live in ruins.
the kings of our past would weep if they could see how far we have fallen.
our way of life is dying.
someone needs to talk to her. someone with good people skills.
i have some questions for you and you are not leaving this city until they are answered.
you are a scholar, are you not? judging from your diminished physique and large forehead, you are suited for nothing else.
you got another question for me?
thatâs what i do, thatâs my job.
such knowledge has been lost to us.
how was my accent?
thatâs an easy thing to miss.
i just wish he could be standing here with me.
we are not thriving. true, our people live, but our culture is dying.
we are like a stone the ocean beats against. with each passing year, a little more of us is worn away.
i have brought you to this place to ask you for your help.
you do swim, do you not?
why donât you lead the way because i have no idea where weâre going.
whatâs⊠whatâs with all the guns?Â
i am such an idiot.Â
this is just another treasure hunt for you.
i wouldâve told you sooner but it was strictly on a need-to-know-basis⊠and, well. now you know.
i had to be sure you were one of us.Â
iâm no mercenary.Â
mercenary? i prefer the term âadventure capitalistâ.
you donât know what youâre tampering with.
you take that away, and theyâll die.
if you gave back every stolen artefact from a museum, youâd be left with an empty building.Â
weâre just providing a necessary service to the archeological community.
iâve got to admit, iâm disappointed.
for once, do the smart thing.Â
i really hate it when negotiations go sour.
tell them to drop their weapons now!
youâre not applying yourself.
iâd suggest you put a bandage of that bleeding heart of yours.
you donât have the slightest idea what this power of capable of.
why donât you translate and iâll wave the gun around.
no donât! donât touch her!
but thatâs what itâs all about, right? money.
youâve read darwin. itâs called natural selection. weâre just helping it along.
weâre all going to die.Â
this is wrong and you know it.
weâre this close to our biggest payday ever and you pick now of all times to grow a conscience?!
weâve done a lot of things weâre not proud of, but nobody got hurt.
i followed you in, and iâll follow you out.
well, i think weâve seen how effective my decisions have been.
itâs been my experience that when you hit bottom, the only place left to go is up.
i didnât say it was the smart thing, but it is the right thing to do.
we better make sure he doesnât hurt himself.
bring jerky and ammo.
i love it when i win.
donât get shot.
you told me he only had guns!
less talk, more saw.
looks like somebodyâs working overtime.
i really wish i had a better idea than this.
you said we were in this together!
well, i have to hand it to you. youâre a bigger pain in the neck than i would have ever though possible.Â
it takes a lot to get under my skin, but congratulations. you just won the solid gold kewpie doll.
if we donât get out of here, weâll die.
i only wish there was more we could do for you.
i donât think the world needs another hero.Â
i hear thereâs an opening down here for an expert in gibberish.
you take good care of yourself.
let me get this straight⊠you didnât find anything?
iâm going to miss that boy.
i hope this piece of proof is enough for you.
zoratastic:
âYou humans certainly have odd ways of enjoying yourselves. But if it brings you joy, then I will support you 100%.â
â...thereâs an air of naivety around you that makes me sad, in a way.â
