'Haneri' - A short film on how mental illness can often be treated in the South Asian community. Personally speaking I've found that sometimes even in my own family and ethnic group, the discussion around Mental health is such a taboo topic. Sure people may be open to talk about it and even sympathize, but not when the discussion turns to them or the mental well being of a loved one. They are unwilling to admit there is a problem, and therefore by ending the discussion before it even starts, they deny their family members the help they need. I have seen this many times through out my life, I wish people would open their eyes and help erase the stigma. I urge you to click the link to this beautifully made film, and I hope this starts a open minded discussion.
