Born Cages came out with a great vibe, and we were /really/ feeling them on stage. Do you know what I mean? I guess you had to be there. They have a nice classic punk rock aura that feeds our inner grease-balls and we are really loving it. They are hoping to be on Alt Nation in May, so look out for their single Rolling Down A Hill!

We had the absolute pleasure of seeing an incredible band, dreamersjoinus live in atlanta last month. Their sound was incredible, and their energy really amazed us all. They’ve been on the Alt Nation Alt 18 for 16 weeks now with their song, Wolves, and they’re currently opening for Stone Temple Pilots on tour! Be sure to check them out!

MisterWives put on one of the most electric and exciting shows we’ve ever been to. Full of energy, Mandy is always sure to keep the crowd pumped up. With a cover of Uptown Funk to close the night, it was a very memorable concert. We’re so glad our photographer, Chloe, was able to get these shots!

Smallpools - “LOVETAP!” - REVIEW

Indie pop band, Smallpools, debuted their full-length album “LOVETAP!” this week and it lives up to the band’s fun and catchy EP! The album features all four songs from the EP. “Over & Over” is my personal favorite with its catchy chorus and idea of spontaneity and escaping the monotony of every day life. Since the release of their self-titled EP, Smallpools has released two singles “Killer Whales” and “Karaoke.” Both of these appear on the album and are equally compelling. “Karaoke” stayed for an extended time on AltNation’s Alt18 and it’s clear why, it’s a little calmer than “Killer Whales” but it’s chorus is just begging you to belt it along with them at one of their shows. The eight new songs are full of the quirky lyrics we’ve come to expect from Smallpools. “Street Fight” may not be a musical masterpiece but the chorus is definitely fun, with lyrics “Caught in a street fight/You need a life line/Go on and use me/I’ll be your Bruce Lee,” it is certainly the sort of song you would want to dance to with your friends. “Dyin’ To Live” has the most relatable lyrics and draws the listener in with the universal desire to find purpose and stability in life, and the fear of missing out on something greater. “Admission To Your Party” is the one song I had stuck in my head for months after seeing them open for Grouplove last year, it has an infectious beat and I can’t help but sing along. This is a great full-length album and it’s just as impressive as their EP. With their energetic sound and catchy lyrics, it shouldn’t be long before they’re making their way into the ears of mainstream radio listeners.

Hozier + George Ezra at Variety Playhouse in Atlanta, 3.10.15 - REVIEW

Hello, readers! Last Tuesday (late, I know— my apologies) I was able to go see Hozier supported by George Ezra on his tour! This show’s date was originally sometime in October, but Hozier was forced to reschedule due to illness. Though six months seemed like it was unfair to wait, it was certainly beyond worth it.

George Ezra was Hozier’s opener, so he came on stage and did his thing. As soon as he walked on stage, the audience erupted in applause and screams of teenage excitement. He introduced himself and began to play.

George Ezra’s stage presence, though fairly minimalistic, was mesmerizing. He gently danced on stage as he sang, and his voice flooded the room beautifully. There were actually a few songs that I liked more live than I did on the album. (Cassy O’, Song 6).

Not to mention, George is an absolutely wonderful storyteller. He is also precious. I love him.

After George exited the stage, it was time to wait for Hozier. After around 45 minutes, the lights began to dim and my stomach leaped. He entered the stage and everyone went crazy. He said his thanks and went immediately into his first song, the Angel of Small Death and Codeine Scene.

Hozier’s voice, as I already knew, was absolutely intoxicating in person. He was able to get everyone tearing up, and then laughing all in the same song. He knew how to work the crowd, when to be silent and just let us take it all in, and when to show us how to have fun.

Overall, I would easily give this concert a 12/10. It was incredible.

I hope to see both artists again soon!
