A few years back I was priviledge enough to attend the IN THE SPIRIT Contemporary Native Arts Festival & Market at the Washington State History museum. One of my favorite artists from the festival was Jeffrey Veregge (Port Gamble S’Klallam Tribe). One of his most celebrated styles is taking age old Coastal style design and using it to recreate contemporary subjects such as Batman.

My solution to scam phone calls

So I keep getting calls from this "Microsoft support company" pretty much everyday about my "computer being hacked". Basically, it's a big scam/hoax. At first, I was baffled that they kept calling me, and chewed them out, but now I've decided to have fun with it.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Scammer guy has a VERY thick Indian accent

Today they called me and the conversation went something like this

Scammer:"Hello, yes sir your computer has been hacked we keep getting reports"

Me:"Nah that's okay jesus fixed my computer"

Scammer:"What?"

Me:"Yeah, I got some holy water and threw it on my computer and now it works!"

Scammer:"Hello sir? What?"

Me:"Yeah, God is my homie so I threw some water on my computer and it works now"

Scammer:"Jesus? What?"

Me:"Have you heard of the bible?"

Scammer:"Yes?"

Me:"Okay let's read genesis together"

So I google genesis because I don't have a bible handy and start reading it. I get to the third day and say

Me:"You know, if God can make the ocean I'm pretty sure he can fix a computer. That's why I threw water all over it"

Scammer:"What about the hacker? What did jesus do to the hacker"

Me:"Oh he's probably burning in hell right now"

Scammer:"Sir, I think you're mad"

and then I started reading from genesis again. He promptly hung up.

Would you mind telling me how the Ł in Dënesułiné is pronounced?

It’s just pronounced as a normal ‘l’. You pronounce the whole thing as Deh-neh-soo-lee-neh.

(You could actually just spell it as Denesuline as well.)

Just curious to know why the barred L is used instead of a regular L if it is pronounced the same. My language uses a barred L as well but the pronunciation is nothing like the English L.

Due to an extremely deadly winter here on the Northern Plains, a winter which has claimed the life of a tribal member, we are raising funds to deploy 20 home pilot projects to receive multi-fuel stoves to replace dependency on fossil fuels to heat our homes (namely propane). We will grow our fuel source and manufacture our own fuel sources in the immediate future to start this shift to renewables.
