Guys, I think he's about to commit an act of hubris they might not survive.
spirit of my silence, i can hear you, but im afraid to be near you.
inspired by inuit stone cut printmaking, an absolutely beautiful medium!
being doomed by the narrative is cool and all but i like when a character is doomed just by being a fucking idiot. sorry that happened to you but it is entirely your own fault and you could have just chosen to not do all that
“And I imagined her to be a very strong woman, because you had to be, back then, living in that kind of environment, in such a harsh nature. The worldview that they had back then, they weren’t really scared of death, because it was very common. The spiritual life was very, very strong, and very real to them. I imagined that death wasn’t as scary to them as it is maybe to us, nowadays.” - Nive Nielsen on playing Lady Silence Portrait by Aidan Monaghan

So was anybody going to tell me that
A. Sophie Cracroft and Lady Jane Franklin are buried under the same monument and
B. It is in a sad state of disrepair and in desperate need of a gentle clean and the replacement of its missing metal letters
Or was I gonna have to find that out myself?!
So now I must hear you instruct me in a captain's duties?
I know we're all here for the queer action but I will not stand making Sophia Cracroft and Francis Crozier out to be this pair that never could have worked. I know she gets The Beard treatment in lots of fanfic, but what little screentime they got together in the show, they had genuine affection for each other. They spoke to each other on equal footing, candidly, showed real emotion with each other, neither looked down on the other, they were casually affectionate, made each other laugh, enjoyed each other's company. Sophia's decision to not marry him comes from a place of preemptive heartbreak, of fearing and hating the lifestyle of being married to a man who was always at sea or may never return home. And to her great despair she found that heartbreak was going to reach her either way, hence her "I have made a terrible mistake."
actually sir john making francis back out of the cabin is something that can be so sexy
It’s about time people started seeing him in a different light and I’m glad my fancam could help
1846: Hope in the face of fears. Fear in the face of reassurances.
I feel an increasing anxiety as the time draws nigh, even tho I know that at this time there is no ground for apprehension...
(Lady Franklin to Dr Adam Turnbull)
misread this subtitle as “and you are weak in your vibes” and had to pause the ep to laugh for a couple of minutes. sir john vibe checked francis and found the vibes fully rancid
