Early Life and Education
After completing engineering from Pune University, Indrajit Sabharwal joined ICL UK (which is now known as Fujitsu ICIM), Pune, in a job, where he had a salary of Rs 1,500/- per month. During this phase, he completed three part-time management degrees.
Entrepreneurial Ventures
In 1991, Sabharwal moved to Delhi, gaining experience in the companies Comptech and International Data Corporation. In January 1992, he joined entrepreneurship, where he formed the consultancy firm SI Consultants, from an initial capital of Rs 10,000. The consultancy firm partnered with some of its most notable clients, such as Modi Lufthansa, Xerox, HP Digital, and Sahara Airlines. It concentrated primarily on business development and IT solutions.
Establishment of Simmtronics
Using his knowledge and understanding of the industry, in 1992, Sabharwal started Simmtronics. He began selling memory modules and DRAM technology to clients such as Tulip Telecomm, HCL, LG, and Sahara. Under his leadership, Simmtronics began to offer motherboards, graphic cards, monitors, and USB drives. It also established manufacturing plants in Bhiwadi, Rajasthan, and Roorkee, Uttarakhand, to keep pace with increasing demand.
Global Presence and Success Story
Simmtronics increased its global presence by establishing its distribution subsidiaries in Singapore in 2005 and Dubai in 2006. The company won laurels by launching the cheapest netbook in the world and also by its "XPad" tablet series that catered to the requirements of various segments of consumers. Simmtronics had already reached a turnover of Rs 550 crore in 2012, which shows its growth pattern.
