Depending on when you see it

I don’t think I believe in a work being truly great depending on when you see it. I’ve seen a few titles, but I will admit that I’m not well versed in the shoujo genre. Despite this, I find Kuzu no Honkai to be really fun, innovative and enjoyable to watch. To many, however, it doesn’t present any new ideas or uses tropes that they found to be predictable within the genre. I’ll flesh this idea out more later, but basically whether you’ve been exposed to something a lot or a little, greatness should still be greatness. Minor tropes being repeated shouldn’t detract from the overall aesthetic and appeal of a show. If you’re jaded towards the conventions of a genre and can’t see past them, sounds like its your problem, not the genres.
