When I signed up with my new doctor, the question “have you ever been tested for HIV?” was one of the first questions they asked me. I was surprised cause I’d never had a doctor ask me that before outside of a Planned Parenthood. When I asked about it, she said it was an attempt at the clinic to help normalize getting tested for it, to try and remove the stigma around asking for such tests by including it as an option in a basic annual physical, and honestly, I’m here for it. These things should be normalized, there should be no stigma over taking care of yourself and getting tested. It’s all just health.
