born to a muggle parents brooke and julian baker, jude and his twin brother --- davis --- had no signs of magic in their blood. up until his receiving of a letter to durmstrang institute, his life had been pretty normal and uneventful. he had loving parents, a good relationship with his brother, and a privileged life. while his brother was known for his athleticism and charm, jude was more of the intelligent and stoic child. he kept to himself often and focused on his grades. the day he received a letter of acceptance to durmstrang, his life changed in many ways.
finding out about magic and wizards and the wizarding world had blown jude’s mind. always a person of facts and figures ( even as a child ), he never once thought about it being real --- it’d been a subject of fiction and fantasy. knowing the school took a special interest in him and not his brother made jude feel guilty to the point where he almost refused to go. to this day he’s glad davis talked him out of it and assured him there were no hard feelings. though part of him still feelsa bit guilty, going to durmstrang had been one of the best things to happen to him.
it wasn’t long before jude was at the top of his class, excelling in each course and earning top marks in his classes.when he wasn’t studying, jude was learning he had an interest in other boys. figuring out he was gay was something jude kept a secret. being muggle born already made him different from most and his orientation would only make things harder for him. hiding it was his best option so, that’s what he did. he hid it from both his wizard and muggle world --- causing him to have his walls up at all times.
of all his subjects, jude’s favorite had always been the dark arts. there was something fascinating and enticing about it. the more he learned the more he practiced it, the more interested in dark magic he became. while jude isn’t malicious or angry and he doesn’t plan on using his dark arts skills for evil, he does think it gives him an advantage. if he were to win the first tri-wizard tournament since it’s return, the glory that comes with it can be something that makes him feel better about who he is inside and out and maybe bring those walls he’s built so high down even if it’s just a bit. so, jude’s name goes into the goblet of fire and he plans on building up his magic ( including the dark ) in the meantime.
